I first saw them marching out of Aden. There was concern over attack, but they left marching in full dress accompanied by pipes and drums to the waiting ship. I was so proud of them I cried. I was 28 and the memory has never,left me whenever I see the Black Watch. X💗💗💗
As a U.S. Marine veteran I can only imagine the dressing down that one soldier, whose magazine dropped. received.

Oh, I heartily agree. I weep with joy, and get goosebumps. Although born in Australia, I have Scottish and English from my father; and my mother was Filipino, but mostly Spanish and a spot of Chinese!!! But the Scottish is strongest in me. There has been a family story that someone among our forbears was in the Black Watch. If I but hear the Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch, my blood's up, and I'm brought to life!!! Their glorious music is NOT for those, who have watered down skim milk in their veins!!!
Really, really great, i love the pipes, i'm playin' in a baravian "Spielmannszug" as a drummer, but no pipes there. My girlfriend is from Bulgaria, the have pipes too, never known this before.

Wife's great grandfather was in the Black Watch during WW1.
Was in this very spot three weeks ago. The Military Tatoo was phenomenal! Made me even more proud, of my heritage!!!
My grandfather walked up this parade ground in 1899 when he joined the Army. He was a company sergeant major in the 2nd Battalion, Black Watch, and died with 2000 other soldiers in the battle of Kut in 1916. The Seaforth Highlanders lost 2400 soldiers in the same battle. RIP
That is amazing about your Grandfather, he is a real important part of our countries history. You must be incredibly proud. Make sure his name is on all the monuments/listings that is attached to this, if you haven't as of yet💂💂

You have to love the fact that regiment band members are warriors first. The regalia, dress code and instruments are part of tradition, but when in conflict, they're right into fatigues and armed, ready as trained to defend.
They are the Regimental medics.

It's 3 scots now,not the black watch,the 1st battalions colours were lowered in Perth giving way to 3 scots,they have no battle honours which were held by the black watch so your dad should hold his head high that he belonged to one of the finest and proudest regiment in the scots div as I do.Touch the hackle feel the power

That was so nice to see these guys back at the castle love these pipes and drums that poor soldier must of accidentally hit the release mechanism but what I can't understand is why the the lieutenant didn't go forward and pick it up straight away instead of marching out then coming back for it you don't do that thank you very much for posting

Oh, I’m so glad someone with some authority picked it up instead of a random tourist. Watching from the US as prior military married to retired military, I cringed when I saw the magazine fall. My great grandfather was from Scotland and I’m totally in love with the sound it the pipes and drums. Never get tired of hearing them.
Accident or not, the poor chap will have been punished. You could see the look on his face, he knew he was in for it. And the lad behind him had a grin that said he knew his mate was in for it
I don't think it was the release button. In seven yers in the Artillery I never saw that happen. Probably, he didn't jam it in hard enough. Lucky he didn't have a stipe to lose.

I will always remember this, with the chappie walking back and forth across the front of the venue, he can hear the pipes and so is looking for them back and forth, back and forth and then they appear behind him in what appears to be the Dunbar tartan. All is well with the world, typical officer, with no idea what is going on and the Dunbar's displaying and playing clearly to the officer idiot.

For a special event - August- they hold the military tattoo concert with Military bands invited from different parts of the the world, but with lots of pipes and drums from Scotland and displays of Scottish dancing.
