Yep very true. They rip your heart out in the process and couldn’t care less about it. They just leave a trail of destruction behind them like a twister.
I’m slowly healing from my experience with a covert narcissist. But they change you forever.

They become "you" and you fall in love with yourself initially..without knowing it!

ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY they can and DO!!!!!! Unfortunately, I know this now from first hand experience.
I've been through Narcissistic Abuse too and my Narcissist used to live 9 doors away from me until 2010 and when the friendship ended in 2008, he bothered me around the village every 3 years (apart from 2020 due to the pandemic) and finally in 2023.
He's now in a psychiatric care home that's 15-25 miles away from me.
He'll never be allowed out alone and without a carer.

Yes they do! The narc I rejected and went No Contact has ruthlessly hunted me for years! The attempts to get any reaction from me have become predictable and every one of them have been documented for more than three years. The smears are off the charts. Yes, indeed, they can be totally obsessed.
When I got hit, I didn't feel she was mirroring me, she was lively and very friendly, but I did feel that much rapport actually. I didn't compliment her either, just she was friendly so I reciprocated.

The obsession seemed like wow, look at this, then it was just a need to be obsessed over a perceived slight of him, not for a real connection. I did not imagine someone spending such energy just for a kind of punishment.

Not true in my case I was obsessed over him gave him validation love control over me but he ghosted me and finally it ended in dissolution of marriage
Yes they do become and stay obsessed. My narc just discarded the new supply and the new supply came to me and told me how our narc ex is still so obsessed with me. They never let go.
