      I tried this method , and later changed every settings back to normal as shown. But my pc isn't working normally. Games like csgo is showing - werfault.exe error . Please helppppppp , even chrome isn't opening.

      Thanks, I am able to make some space available to shrink on my D drive by following these steps but still not all of free space is available to shrink. Event log - defrag shows bitmap as well in addition to three issues you have covered. Can you plz suggest how to fix this make all of my D drive’s free space available to shrink.

      I wanted to say the same thing. Simple mergre and delete anyone can do but I was having hard time getting those free space from C drive. Don't know why views are so less

      After cloning ur HDD to SSD, do you re enable all the setting that he mentioned? Do you re enable it after you plug in your SSD?

      I am facing the same problem. How did you solve that? The System Volume Information file is not show even when show hidden folders option is tick marked.

    Hey, I have 450 gigs of free space but I am able to only shrink upto 140 gig, It says "The last unmovable file appears to be: \$Extend\$UsnJrnl:$J:$DATA", what should I do in this case ?

      use "fsutil usn createjournal m=0 a=0 C:" on cmd as administrator, then it must show something that ends in 0887::$DATA you go on and use "fsutil usn queryjournal C:". After all that it shows something that should end in BITMAP, he has a video about that one.

    For me, it was the Windows Search index blocking the shrinking. Once I deleted it, it worked.

      @『77』3amoryツ index is basically a map for your computer to know where your files are to search and open them faster. Once you remove the index, you can resize the partition, but files and folders might load a little slower at first, before the system makes indexes again

      However, my disk is 1K. After system reserving I get 930GB, then after Win 10 installation and other data remaining around 730GB. And after all the troubleshooting I'm only getting 112521MB its around 109GB... Now what to do?

      @@itarmy2778 The latest issue is that, after I disable all 3 of the pagefile, hibern and restore point and reboot, everything works fine as I can see that I am able to shrink the drive. As soon as I re-enabled the 3 files and reboot then I am back to the original issue that I cannot shrink a volume beyond the point. Its very strange? If I want to shrink the drive again I can go and disable it all but doesn't seem right to do that each time to perform a shrink drive?

    Thank you, bro! I needed that to install Debian/Windows 10 on dual boot. Now I have both OS on my workstation!
    PRO tip for those with laptops: it MIGHT be possible for you to encounter problems at dual booting. On my Desktop I didn't encounter any at all (I just had to work around showing my Windows 10 on booting, but that literally took me 10 minutes to fix, so I didn't lose anything).

    PS. if amount of available space to shrink is only half of the disk size, simply re-open Disk Management multiple times and it will get to maxim available level.
