- In this video I'm going to show you the steps to fix the error that says "you cannot shrink a volume beyond the point where any unremoveable files are located. See the defrag event in Application log for detailed information about the operation when it has completed."
Yo, I have been dying with this issue for the past 2 days! Multiple hours spent without any progress. THank you so so much! I hope your video pops up as the first result in every google/youtube search! And Damn Windows, needs to do something about this issue! But why would they? They don't care if we are able to use linux or not smh!

Using the MiniTool Partition Wizard worked for me. Thank you! Now I am going to try cloning the new smaller hdd onto my ex-smaller ssd drive.

i have tried the first method but it did not work. The available space is still low but after i tried the second method, i was able to create a new partition with the size i wanted. Thanks
Not sure why, but the System Volume Information folder doesn't show up in explorer, but I can CD into it with terminal/cmd. Turning off system protection does not delete it.

I tried with your method 1 video and second video both. Still unable to shrink my C Drive further. There is around 500 GB sitting idle. Using the MiniTool Partition wizard 12.7, C drive is do not show any unused space to shrink further. Totally no result so far using all your steps. Mine is Windows 11 Home/Version 22H2/OS Build 22621.1555/ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22640.1000.0/ Please suggest if any other method

Does the windows disk defragmenter also move the files? At 2:30 you suggest you can use "other system tools."
I've used Mini tool partition wizard in the video. There are lot of other free disk management tools available that can solve your issue.
@@itarmy2778 haven't you tried the windows defragmrnter tool itself before you try third parties tools?? Pls, answer the question.

As in your first video, I did powercfg.exe /h off and changed the advanced system settings. Now I'm going to use MiniTool, should I reset the settings?
Hey, is the issue sorted? Even while using the mini tool, those things like disabling page files and hibernate.sys files help! And once you get your unallocated space back, revert back all system settings to their original form! Also, there are times, where u cannot do anything at all on your laptop when the page file is deleted. Just toggle between on and off based on requirements until you get your unallocated space, and permanently keep it on at a high value, after getting the space!

I already used your methods that you told on your video that you posted on 8 apr 2019.no use an over the top , some hang issues in lap....so reset my windows with great hopes...but surprisingly cudnt shrink again...same error shown in event manager which is ' \$Mft::$DATA ' .i can give u more details if u want...please respond....been on this for hours...yet no use....didnt use ur software though.....i hv a screen shot of event log if i can send to u if that helps....pls help me out

first of all thanks a lot for this video i was searching almost 6 hours for a solution and finally i found your video. i wanted to shrink my cleaned up win 10 partition but with your steps i "only" could get something like 120 Gb out of it, now it says that it cant move some bitmap stuff

I did what you suggested: defragger>Settings>Boot time defrag>Run once.. and the space I was getting for partitioning was 24GB earlier, now is reduced to 3GB!??!??!?! Please tell me how to undo this.
