  • This time on Knucklehead Garage it is finally time to start on Project Towverlander our Ford Excursion Build. We start off with doubling the horsepower coming out of our 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel engine. The problem is none of us are professional diesel mechanics and us knuckleheads only have 3 days to pull this off. So here we go! This 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 Diesel came with a modest 235 Horsepower and we are aiming for over 500. We will get there with a Bigger Turbo and much bigger injectors as well as a plethora of diesel performance goodies to keep this engine bullet proof and reliable as the good Lord intended! But is a fast 7.3 powerstroke even an obtainable goal? Especially a Heavy Ford Excursion 7.3 Diesel equipped behemoth like ours? You will have to stay tuned and find out. Let us know what you think of our 7.3 Excursion build so far in the comments below.

    All you need to take the fan off is the large cresent and a hammer. With the belt still on, apply some pressure on the cresent wrench at the point of the pulley slipping on the belt and pound straight down on the end of the wrenches handle....not on the side of the handle.... just straight down on the end. Works every time for me. Pulley wrench becomes obsolete with this method. I tighten the fan back on using the same tools and procedure. Love mod videos on the first Ford Superduty's, OBS and 7.3's, the only diesel i have ran for the past 23 years...great job!! Subscribed.

      Call Strictly Diesel. They may be willing to hook you up. If not, they might be able to tell you how long until it’s available. Be sure to tell them we sent you.

      Best be handy and have a good set of tools. They are robust and reliable, but things are going to need repair and replacement. Oil leaks, door locks, brakes... they’ll all need attention.

      It probably needs injectors also.

    Why didn’t you reseal the oil pan and rear main?

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  Před 3 lety

      no need

      The rear main seal on a 7.3L rarely leaks. The truck has spent its entire life in Georgia, so there is no rot on the pan or any leaks. Taking it off to reseal it would just introduce the chance for a leak where one didn’t previously exist.

      It gets rid of the leaky bowl and adds better filtration. After tuning and exhaust, it’s the next thing I’d do.
