- In this video I am rounding up all of the HiFi reviews I have completed in 2023 to announce what were my standout products in several key categories with some I am naming as winners / best products too. However lets be real about this as even with a full work load I can only see a tiny % of the products available each year so cant listen to and compare everything. I've been involved in audiophile products, and studio kit for many years. I also have and interest in filming technology. All said interests have been part of a paid profession over my lifetime.
For me personally the greatest advancements have come from the budget end.

Personally, my best buy to date is the eversolo DMP-A6 , I completely love it. I just need to buy a nice integrated amp moving from my arcam avr20 like MF m6si or hegel 190 to work with my arendal 1723s towers. Well done Terry, and Merry Christmas.
Within this price range you should consider Rega Elicit Mk5 or Exposure 3510 integrated as well. As I also intend to upgrade from my Rega Elex Mk4 I think about whether I should go for a hybrid .... there are some interesting Italian hybrid amps such as Unison Research Unico Due or Pathos Classic One Mk3 which are about the same price level. Have an audiophile Happy New Year :-)

Audiolab 9000N Vs Eversolo DMP A8, nice to have a direct comparison :). These two are roughly in the same price category.

Hey Terry, thanks a lot for all the nice videos you made this year, I had a great time watching them and I did discover a lot of cool staff and brands I didn’t knew about before, Big Up!!
As for a review suggestion, I think the Allnic H-5500 phono preamp might be interesting for you as it’s in between the old school warm tube sound and the solid state impactful type of sound, so it apparently work great on every style of music.

FOR 2024, would appreciate you keeping CD in the frame and how it still fares against alternative formats. A lot of us still have CD players and large collections that we intend to carry on enjoying, despite current trends and claims that CD is defunct.

You know what I never thought of that, point well made :) I think the main difference is I hear a lot of subwoofers and the benefit of them for a lot of systems in my calibration work. I will try and hold that line but point well made

Oh, the PX8, the biggest disappointment of mine, I have quite a sad story with them. Bought in November 2022 and was happy with all I got until suddenly the bottom part of the headband just glued away. That leather strip is not fixed there properly but loosely glued instead, so, during casual wearing and rubbing over my bald head, it just teared off in 2 months since purchase. Big respect to my local deal, they offered me refund or change. According to them B&W was aware of the situation as I was not alone and fixed the issue in newer stock, but guess it, it went down the same way again (and again). After having 3 pairs (!!) with the same problem I just asked for money back and bought Focal Bathys. And briefly seen your pair in the video I can say it almost at the spot of tearing off like mine.
Yeah that also happened to mine but I just re glued it and it’s been fine. I thought it happened because of where I store them and how I remove them from it - this quite snug hook thing on my desk. It was a simple fix but interesting I thought that was just me. Maybe its. bald thing 😄
I’m curious which one you liked better between the Focal, and the B&W’s? I’ve been looking at the Focal’s myself. And hadn’t even thought of B&W until just now. But they look really nice. ✌️
@@amb3cog from the sonic side of things I really like both. They are quite different in presentation but each has own spirit if I may say :) If to be super precise and select just one, I would keep Bathys. The sound stage is better/wider in those and overall sound is more refined on the whole frequency spectrum compared to PX8. The PX8 have more striking highs and unusable EQ while Bathys are balanced and can be adjusted via their app to follow Harman curve which makes big difference to the music I listen somehow. From the dynamics standing point both are great. Wearing experience, microphone (not for windy days tho), battery, ANC -- all good. One nuance I can highlight is that PX8 have more precise volume adjustment, while Bathys do more "coarse" steps when I'd like to have a step in the middle, but that's not a dealbreaker. I got Bathys for exactly the same price as PX8 due to holiday discounts and I really don't want to take them off. With PX8 it was cool and nice, I listened to them when I'm out & about and put on stand when back home, while the Bathys I wan't to continue listening to :)

Hi Terry, your Mark Levinson headphones, are produced by Harmon Kardon. Mark never mfg’d a headphone. HK years ago sued ML for the exclusive rights to his name. Sadly HK won the lawsuit. ML can’t use his name on any products he sells today. I’m 68yrs old, & based on principles, I’d never buy any HK product, especially any bearing the ML name/trademark😡.

…I’d Just found out yesterday Samsung owns Harmon/Kardon group, so that company is way bigger then I already knew and they practically own the South Korean Government along with a few others…*edit* companies that is not other Govt’s
