The long awaited review of the Cadillac XT6 is finally here!!! We are very disappointed with how lazy Cadillac was with such an important model for the brand... we see an emergency refresh coming. Incase you’re also wondering... the Lincoln Aviator is being loaned to us in early February so stay tuned!

This has proven to be more reliable than the Lincoln and better packaged than the Lexus RX 350L with it's useless rear seats.More premium and luxurious than the Acura MDX or Infiniti QX. This vehicle is way better than you presented it to be. Sorry you only like Honda and BMW products. You should check out Alex on Autos to see how to do an unbiased review.

Cadillac rushed this to the market and it shows. Supposedly this was supposed to ride on the omega platform with the CT6 but they scrapped that plan due to “increased costs” Nevermind they literally made that platform and only 1 car uses it AND they don’t even market the car which means they don’t make money off that platform. ridiculous yet 10/10 GM Logic

I just picked up my 2022 XT6 Premium Luxury last week and I couldn't be happier with it! Terrific looking and functional, great space and comfort, reasonably priced for it's segment, great tech and safety features, plenty of power and a smooth ride! It's my first domestic US car brand purchase in 20 years.

IMO, Cadillac should build nothing but rear wheel drive luxury/performance vehicles and leave the front wheel drive luxury vehicles to Buick. THIS is what originally got GM in trouble - too much platform sharing and not enough originality from each division.

I totally agree. If Cadillac suppose to compete with BMW and Mercedes then they need to put shit out that can 100% compete with their lineups. Make everything RWD/AWD. Make sure the V-Series can compete with M and AMG. Make a FWD model based off the Trax/Encore so that it can compete with BMW X1 and Mercedes A-Class. I just dont think Cadillac is good competition for BMW and Mercedes. Lexus is doing a good job at making models to compete. Just wish the RX was a RWD based SUV.

Brandon N. The main problem is GM and them wanting to impress their shareholders. GM is a Wall Street company and they are not actually interested in developing their products to Their full potential because that costs money. As long as their products are “good enough” people will buy them and they can save money by sharing everything off the basis of a Chevy platform. Their whole logic is wrong. I could go on and make a damn novel but essentially GM does not want to be cream of the crop.

The one with magna ride AND the suspension that lowers itself 5 cm when you approach to aid in entry. The one with the 10.1 inch (versus 8 inch) touch screen. The one with the 24 speaker Revel audio system (versus an 8 speaker Bose). The one with the twin turbo V6 that makes 400 hp standard with an optional hybrid version making 494 hp (versus a NA V6 making 310 hp, the only powertrain it offers). Yeah, compare it to that one then come back and tell me that this feels premium. I don't hate. I call them like I see them. I'm a native Detroiter...born and raised. I pull for Cadillac and Lincoln. But Cadillac struck out with this vehicle and Lincoln knocked it out the park with the Aviator; especially when you consider their price points. It's that simple. Sir, your fanboy boots are showing. Please realize you’re comparing a FWD based stretched Cadillac XT5 to a flagship Lincoln Aviator. The Aviator is literally the best thing Ford Motors company has to offer consumers. The Cadillac XT6 is far from that for GM. Lol. Take a deep breathe and comprehend that first! Now, believe me, GM knows luxury and the XT5/XT6 is not the vehicle they decided to make their new flagship. The Cadillac Escalade is coming to directly compete with RWD based luxury SUVs like the Navigator and Aviator and it will effortlessly blow them both out of the water and show you Lincoln fans what true American luxury is.
Did you mean the same 30-way adjustable “Perfect Position” seats that people complain are too complicated or hard to get comfortable in? You mean the 10.1-inch infotainment system that has a processor speed of a 10 year old iPod touch and was just recalled in the Lincoln Aviator? You mean the twin-turbocharged V6 that’s straight out of the Ford Explorer (that was also recalled) which you can obtain for thousands less? Oh you mean the hybrid, twin-turbocharged, ecoboosted, very likely unreliable complicated concoction on the $93,000 Grand Touring Black Label Lincoln Aviator? Lol. Realize that’s 2021 Cadillac Escalade price bracket, a vehicle even the Navigator cannot successfully compete with. Comprehend the fact that’s completely priced outside of the Infiniti QX60, Acura MDX, and Lexus RX-L’s market. These are the XT6’s competitors, not the Aviator. You sound ridiculous. Did you watch the review? Quiet on the inside, spacious, comfortable, ride quality is great, etc. NATURALLY ASPIRATED Engine sounds great, feels great, more than enough power and will be more reliable than any of the turbo engines in a Aviator. That’s what consumers in this segment want, comfortable, reliable, intuitive, daily drivers.
Hop in the Lincoln Aviator? Tried that, it was recalled shortly after release and they’re currently delayed from arriving at dealerships. The vehicle is already experiencing issues, buddy. But it doesn’t matter since none of the things you mentioned would justify a $20,000 price difference between the two fully loaded.

Kevin Barry Lol. Leave Cadillac in what way? Technology? Innovation? Reliability? Platforms? Powertrains? Transmissions? Sales? LMDAO. Currently Hyundai is accomplishing NONE OF THE ABOVE. GM is literally better in every category as of today’s date. Sir, the G90 can’t even outsell the CT6. Anything from Genesis that’s this size or larger on a RWD platform will compete with the Cadillac Escalade which will effortlessly blow it out of the water. Although going RWD for any Genesis SUV would probably be their best bet, I assure you Cadillac is not worried. If they _are_ dumb enough to put it on a FWD based platform to keep the price down (which they may wanna consider since nobody’s gonna pay too much for a Genesis) then the Hyundai Palisade will cannibalize majority of it’s sales in house. Thanks to the Hyundai Palisade, the competition remaining in this segment (Lexus RX-L, Acura MDX, this Cadillac XT6, Volvo XC90) will only have to obliterate the remainder of aforementioned GV80/90 sales since the Hyundai/Telluride would have already taken majority of it’s sales. Again, GM is not worried about Hyundai.

You're trying yourself up in a pretzel trying to defend an 80k dollar shit box which is essentially a Chevrolet,. that will be lucky to be worth 30 or 40 in 3 years. Give me a break.
Hyundai is the better deal. I'm sorry. Unless you're a badge snob, which is pathetic in its own right. You know it deep down inside.
The Genesis will absolutely beat this vehicle in sales. This is a forgetable vehicle 100% And its built on its own platform unlike this badge engineering baby. And will cost less. And have better tech. Shall I keep going?
Oh okay now you wanna compare the escalade which to my knowledge is a FULL SIZE suv not mid-size. Genesis isnt looking to go head to head with the Escalade, more like X5, Q7, Lincoln Aviator, Lexus RX... I mean for a troll, GM should have really sat you down in class and given you better notes to repeat, beford sending you out into the wild wild comments. 😂😂

No they compare it to benchmark sedans like the Sclass, 7 series and Audi. Of which the Cadillac is not one of. Go watch the videos if you don't believe me.

There is a more Capable, more Refined, more Luxurious, more Comfortable, Better Executed, Higher Quality Mid-size SUV: Lincoln Aviator! I consider myself a very educated and conscientious vehicle shopper. I will also admit that I've been a very loyal GM customer, having purchased 13 new GM vehicles within our household over the past 30 years. I’ve been actively researching a purchase of a Mid-Size Luxury SUV for the past year. When GM announced the production of the Cadillac XT6, I was waiting with baited breath to learn more and tests drive this “NEW” model. When I finally had the opportunity to drive the XT6, I was immediately left with serious concerns and disappointment. Having test driven the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator prior to the XT6 may have influenced my opinion of the Cadillac prematurely; so I thought. However, as I took careful time to seriously compare of these two American Luxury brands, I felt compelled to turn away from the Cadillac XT6 and pursue a purchase of the Lincoln Aviator. Let it be known that my reason from turning away from GM wasn’t because of any negative experiences with previous GM products! Simply stated, I've become increasingly frustrated with GMs failure to seriously differentiate its product lineup to include Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. With the exception of some simple exterior/interior cues, GM still insists on sharing one common parts-bin amongst all of its product divisions. From the powertrains to the dashboards, all GM divisions share way too much in common. Additionally, the exterior and interior appearances are lackluster and appear very "dated". The issues that these GM models face can no longer justify the significant difference in pricing that they command. GM has lost its ability to “wow” me with its “new” lineups. Specifically, my comparison of the XT6 and the Aviator allowed me to undeniably conclude that these two vehicles are Not Even Close in many aspects. If anyone has completed simple research, they cannot deny the facts. It is clear that GM demonstrates some serious neglect in the XT6 engineering by fast-tracking its development. As a result, the XT6 became a stretched version of the XT5, which limited its development, therefore forcing comprises in function and performance. Indeed, the XT6 it attractive and functional, however, for five distinct reasons I predict that the XT6 will remain out of reach of the Lincoln Aviator in sales and owner satisfaction. These five keys areas are: Use of C1XX platform (stretched version of XT5); Front wheel drive; Use of 3.6L V6 (LGX) naturally aspirated Engine; No option of a Hybrid variant powertrain; A base MSRP that is within $2K of the Aviator. Regardless of these major points, when considering the XT6, you are simply looking at a well-dressed and rebadged Enclave, Traverse or Acadia that present with the simplest differences in grills, tailgates and dashboards. In sharp contrast, the new Lincoln Aviator is a truly redesigned luxury vehicle that cannot be mistaken for the 2020 Ford Explorer which shares the same platform. Lincoln did some serious homework and accomplished some serious engineering goals. Not only has Lincoln separated itself brilliantly from its Ford brethren, but it truly put a lot of distance between itself and the Cadillac XT6, as well as every other foreign competitor in the same Class. The Aviator's exterior stance and interior quality have been far better executed. The Twin-Turbocharged 400 HP V-6 engine, rear wheel drive and AWD demonstrate unmatchable performance and are simply enough to make it a much better value than the XT6. It is obvious that the Aviator was meticulously designed from bottom up. Although the Cadillac XT6 has its strengths, as a loyal GM customer for decades, I must regretfully admit that it still falls short in nearly every measure when compared to most other Mid-size Luxury SUVs in the same class. It is disappointing that the XT6 was conceived which such limited time and resources. I truly believe that it would be a regretful mistake to purchase a Cadillac XT6 without first exploring the Lincoln Aviator! With my opinion aside, only future sales will definitively dictate who will come out ahead. Do your own research and buy wisely!

At that price point, it is a good value in this segment compared to a fully-loaded Aviator Reserve or Black Label which cost a lot more. I mean I prefer the Aviator more over the XT6 but they're both tight on the third row legroom. My mom's LR3 has 36.3" of legroom in the third row so it can fit adults. The XT6 & the Aviator barely have 29.2-29.5" of legroom. The only midsize 7-seater SUV that comes close to the LR3 Is the VW Atlas with 33.7" of legroom in the third row. I know all of these SUVs have the 2nd rows on a sliding track system to allocate more legroom to third row passengers which is helpful. But the only other 2 SUVs that come close to the LR3 in third row legroom are the Ford Expedition & the Lincoln Navigator. Even JetBlue has 35" of legroom between their rows of seats 🤦🏾‍♂️🙄😂

The American companies have had infotainment issues plaguing them and to have a Tesla style screen will not help. I don't even see this as a competitor to the Aviator. It has its place in the market and will occupy a certain spot for a certain buyer, but an Aviator competitor? I think we all know that ain't the reality. I think even the new MDX will easily outdo this when it comes out with thoroughly fresh style, proper tech, and established Acura quality and resale value. And the Palisade just gives you a ridiculous amount of niceness and far better interior packaging for a substantially lower price, sorry to anyone who can't handle hearing that.
This rig needed to have all the tech, style, and road presence of the CT6 to come anywhere near the Aviator, and to even begin to establish their image, and....well I'm not gonna pretend I even understand why GM declined to go that route. We will likely never see the 3.0T as an engine upgrade, because Cadillac has never used it in a FWD application. Those gauges look like they belong in a Cruze. The infotainment and display screen is almost yesterday's news. I'm sure we won't be able to hold our breath for a proper modern plug-in option, like the incredible Aviator.
Thanks GM, you really phoned in this one. We all know this is just a Traverse Plus, and you'd have to be out of your skull to pay anywhere near $70K for it.
