I take my hat off to you and your moral standards! Exactly the way all dealers should work, sadly 99% do not. You Sir, are the 1% and deserve all the success in the world.
Couldn't agree more top man!
Also you are helping to keep older cars on the road for longer and believe me as 2030 gets closer we will need more people like you Lee .
You said it Lee, a lot of the dealers won’t do the servicing that you do and that’s why a lot of punters buy private. Utmost respect for your work ethics and as I like to say ( I’m an old geezer ) your old school, it’s an old saying that basically means you’re a stand up guy. Good luck fella 👊👍
Thanks Twiz
@@carukchannelthat’s why you’re running a successful business mate. Good luck to you 👌
Exactly!
Love the fact you, Chops Garage, Shifting_metal, Valley Auto and High Peak Auto's all look after your customers and show everything you do on cars. Love the videos and keep them coming.
Well done Lee this is how all car dealers should be. I sadly purchased from a so called big car dealer on my last car and paid an extra £1000 for a 3 year warranty then hey presto when it needed a new clutch dual mass and clutch release bearing they suddenly said oh 99% of the time its wear and tear well not my wear and tear id only had it a few months and it had only done 19k miles. My warranty stated all clutch components including dual mass flywheel still wouldnt do it even the motor ombudsmen was pointless. Id never pay for another warranty while i have a hole in my ars!.
I used to sell cars at a large Ford dealer, you are absolutely correct,
we sold warranties as they paid a good commission, but getting them to
pay out was next to impossible, they're merely an insurance policy with
no insurance. My company sold these, but it was a respected large group,
so the company itself stood the costs, but on a used car, that period was just
3 months.
Another good little video Lee. I like your work ethic and approach it’s admiral and rare these days
Nice to get a fully sorted car that needs nothing doing. I wish other dealers were as trustworthy as yourself 👍
Jeez Lee...u must be the most honest and decent dealer in the country!! Fair Play!! U are certainly building a strong reputation.
I'd definately buy a car from this man
Bought my Duster at 62k and 9 years old. The service schedule said cambelt due at 7 years or 70k. I got the strong vibe that the lady had been working to mielage not years so I bought it got an oil and filters service and a cambelt and waterpump - just makes sense
Heart warming video Lee. The new owner should watch this and appreciate what you do.
love your vids....love your honesty and work ethics....great cheap cars sold the right way for the ones who cant afford to go into debt
Hi Lee, it's great to see a dealer that cares, if I lived near your dealership i would buy a car of you and not worry about it from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
Lee your the only dealer I recommend to friends, work colleagues with complete confidence. Keep up the good work regards darren
great channel and your knowledge is great and a very honest car dealer
Top man, well done Lee 👍
Lee you really care for your customers good old-fashioned service 👍
Good to see how much you do before selling a car. Definitely a big plus and the reason i buy from a garage i trust. I wouldn't buy privately because i just dont know enough about cars
Preventative maintenance, yep happy customers, less problems to deal with, everyone's happy.😊
Hi Lee. You're a good man bro. No other dealer would even bother to look under the bonnet, never mind all that work. I could throw cash onto your desk and drive out of your yard, with not a Care in the world. You're so Decent and 💯 trustworthy. I'm Pissed off that I'm in Ireland and not in the U.K. Otherwise I would buy off you. That's a beautiful Aygo, Lee
Just watched Chops Garage piece about another Ford with a wet belt which was not damaged in the way you have described in your videos which shows some cars are affected and others not. As regards the Aygo watched earlier High Peak Autos Peugeot 107 and his view on the car. Always like how you deal with your cars. If you went further upmarket I think you would do well in dealing with some of the cars but appreciate the lower priced cars are in general not so electronic as newer cars. I wonder how the car market will change in the future. I appreciate the use of Topdon equipment helps a lot. Good work Lee and your team.
Hi Lee another great video 😉 I bought a 2008 c max titanium from a dealer locally. I was quite surprised by the prep they had done to the car with only 2 grand selling price . They had put on new brake pads and disks all round as well as new springs. The only problem I had when I first got it was the window washers were not working but I sorted that myself it was just the filter at the bottom of the water bottle had got clogged up . Mine is the 1.8 petrol witch is chain driven so no cam belt to worry about 😉 great old workhorse never missed a beat in 2 years .
Wish garages were all like this but sadly not. I have a garage i trust and used for over 20 years.
Exaclty my morals Lee....prep is everything, peace of mind for both customer and you. Good Lad.
Your a good car salesman ❤
You truly do go above and beyond Lee. Well Done!! Many happy customers I am sure. What's not to like :)
Great information Lee very interesting. My Cmax goes in next week for cambelt 88000 miles just for peace of mind
Good job Lee, peace of mind 👏
Fair play Lee. Nice and honest attitude, and like you say its piece of mind for the punter.
If only all vendors did the same as you.
Well done m8. 👏
Most dealers selling cars under £3000 don't do anything, you do great prep
Because there's no profit otherwise
@@999hireactionvehicles9 exactly
If I was in the market for a 'wee cheepie ' I would make the journey(250 miles away) to yourself, safe in the knowledge that I would get a properly sorted car.
Great as always, but also the bit about the ability to add that value because of your labour etc, not sure there are many dealers like you about, keep up the great work
Very honest lad lee
Was about 2 days from purchasing a 1.2L vauxhall grandland, loved the car, drove excellent, was packed with features that we loved... then I found out about its engine. Now whilst the dealership showed that it recently had the belt replaced, after seeing yours and other people's coverage of that puretech engine we pulled out and were gutted. That being said, we try to keep our cars for at least 8 years to get our moneys worth and we service regularly (8-10k). We still couldn't justify taking the risk with that engine.
Would be great if someone offered a service after they went through the effort to redesign the timing system to use a chain instead but that's just a pipe dream.
@@JB-ys5bf I agree with your decision to pull out , I bought a crossland but only found out about this stupid wet belt after I checked it and there it was full of cracks contacted dealership they said yes needs changing , the car is still under warranty but because it had not broken down they said I’ve got to pay it’s been done now and they charged me £475 they said we have done all we can to keep costs down meanwhile I had contacted Vauxhall who said they don’t think I should of paid so hopefully I will one day be refunded, mine is on 42 k and needed belt changed there is no way it would of got to the 60k change recommended, it’s a shame because I’ve drove all three mokka crossland and grandland full of tech but that purecrap engine lurks under the bonnet .
Cracking podcast as usual Lee all the best mate from Bristol
Thanks bryan
Great stuff doing that work before handing over the keys. Shows how much you care about customers. Last car I bought, the sales guy recommended getting the oil changed. Like you they have their own work shop and so could have done it.
Great job mate and hats off to you for your diligence and customer service. Doing all those jobs when you've already sold the car 👏🏻
The very best of luck to you in your endeavours. 🤝🏻
Lee i wish there was more people like you in the industry i live in Australia and you need to be careful of the dealers here not all as honest as you are keep up the good work...
Sent an astra out today at a loss. Spent £1700 prep on it in the end, tyres, exhaust, 02 sensor, glow plugs, service, MOT, £500 paint, cambelt done. Made a loss on it but least it's right, sold straight away and moneys back in the bank to buy another. I've done cambelt on every car I've sold but I need to stop doing it, it just helps me sleep better. Someones getting a bargain with that C-Max, from a dealer, with clutch and cambelt done. Top work Lee 👍
Love the videos Lee, very entertaining and informative, makes my day..
I have to 100% agree with you when it comes to timing belts.Just not worth the gamble.Ive just had a timing belt kit and water pump fitted to a Fiat 500 and ive kept the old parts to show the buyer. Its a really good selling point as well.
Another great video Lee, good to see the likes of yourself, Joe from Berrow Motors (Shifting metal) and a few others on CZcams that there’s more honest dealers about than people think keep at it mate.
Great video respect for your work ethic not many dealers would do that much work on used cars 👍
Suggestion. Just a thought when I was watching this Video. I know you touch on cars and their faults or the best bits at times, why not buying guide videos on various cars, like the comments on the Aygo, i know how much you love them.😀
You are a stand up guy , just subscribed
Many thanks peter
Great videos nice to see someone like yourself put in 100% into looking after the customers, love the auction videos all the best and thank you
Fully agreed: spending a little on prep saves on warranties AND is worth a fair penny in commercial goodwill and reputation. Am looking for a small car for her indoors within your price range and would be willing to drive from the *North East* due to integrity and peace of mind.
From watching your channel you can tell you like to send your cars out properly prepped for the buyer, that gives a real peace of mind for the buyer. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
With great respect, how does the ordinary punter know all the checks have been done unless they camp out in your workshop. On my last car service, after a couple of weeks I just happen to notice the garage hadn't replaced the oil filter, rather than going back to complain I decided to go down the old fashioned route and do it myself. Obviously I have now changed my garage which by the way I have patronised since 1974, although we have had a change of ownership.
Good lad Lee, fair play 👍
Great ethic that Lee. Absolutely the right way to trade and allows you to hold your head up high 👍🏻
Superb Lee. I'll definitely be buying from you at some point, regardless of the distance. Thanks for the update.
A colleague of mine has a nice one. He's recently bought a '13-plate Aygo 'Fire' in that striking GT86 metallic orange that Toyota offered briefly. I've ridden in it, and it's a surprisingly quiet car on the motorway. He prefers the Aygo to his previous '59-plate Golf TDi in fact.
I think you are in a minority of car dealers who just want to move the metal for as much as they can get. I like your business plan and I will bear that in mind when I need to change cars.
That’s why I watch your videos Lee you are a top guy 👏👏👏👏👏 thank you so so much for your great videos 👍
Thanks 👍
What a great attitude towards work ethic. Not many garages are as good as you
Fair play to you should all be like yourself top mark
Fantastic prep Lee, you're a credit to the trade.I had some cambelt shenanigans once, and I always do that as a first check now when doing pre-purchase questions; if that question doesn't get answered I simply move on to the next dealer/vehicle
can't imagine a lot of dealers who prep there cars like you do. i know of a couple of dealers who get there cars delivered from auction, put straight on the forecourt and a price in and no wonder they haven't good reviews!!
Spot on 👌
Love the channel and the Toyota Aygo Blue is a fantastic motor. Bought the lad one 125,000 on the clock and it runs like a dream. Keep up the good work.
Ours has the same mileage, I have Mot'd them with 170k still running strong.
I wish more car dealers had your approach.
I bought an 11 plate Ford at the start of this year. Only 35k miles on the clock but no cam belt change in the service book. Ford say replace after 10 years but the dealer said they wouldn't do it. I had to get it done elsewhere after I purchased the car.
Amazed its lasted 16yrs on original cambelt
Top man! I'd buy a car from you.
You need some perspex roofing panels installed to brighten up the workshop Lee.
I'm not saying that other buyers should/would do this, I'm saying me, if I found out that you had done that for me to give me peace of mind I would have at least offered to pay for the parts and a drink for the mechanic to say thank you.
I'm sure you must have a good reputation in your town Lee, do us a favour sell up and move into ours. 😊
Do you still do mechanical work yourself Lee or do you leave that to your mechanic now?. Great to see that you put the ethics into the trade. 👍
A 16 year old car will the originals cambelt. That done well. Or been lucky.
As ever brilliant interesting video from Lee the most genuine straight ss dye car dealer, the blue Similar coloured car certainly won't be £20 a year road tax, presumably you mean your Maserati , gourgeous car not sure what model it is but its not a Ghibli or quattroporte .
That's all that fella @chopsgarage does. Polish a bit of money into the scrapper and then send it. His comeback rate is horrendous. The locals reckon his rep is now so bad in thr area he had to put his cars inside 😂 shocking really.
Chops Garage of Sunny Devon - Good ole' James.🙂
@owensteele1645 same as that fat ginger bloke in the same area. Keeps getting the money taken back by the finance companies coz of the dodgy scrappers he's polishing and selling. You'd think the customers would see the fake Rolex and run 🏃♀️ 🙄 🤣
For the man in the street to go to a garage and pay for belt and clutch and the other bits it'd probably cost half the price of the car again.
A good, trustworthy dealer is where people need to go if they're not mechanics themselves.
Wow good to hear you have good values were is your garage please and do you sell meny cars 🚘 and vans ??? I would definitely trust and buy from you
I'm thinking of getting a Honda Civic, around 2017. But that little Aygo makes me think that all I need is something to last 3 or 4 years, it will be left outside as I only have community parking. Won't have to care about dings or washing it regularly (I live near Aberdeen). Only concern would be driving it on the motorways or on the continent. Love to hear about other peoples experience with them.
You weren’t at G3 today? Thought I saw your Maserati parked up and wondered if you had been at the auctions.
Good video as always😊
I was there last thursday in my car, not been this week mind
I bought a Mercedes in March from a Dealer in Derbyshire who has good reviews, They gave me a price for my old car so when I went to pickup my new car, the salesman said he forgot to test run my old motor when I was in before so he went off 10mins later he's back with my bonnet up and steam everywhere so they knocked £500 off what they originally offered me. The quickly washed my new car then the salesman processed to tell me various things that were not working on my new purchase, I bought the car because I needed a vehicle the next day but I have found various things wrong with it since then and it cost over £7000 . So people like you do a good job considering what you charge.
Utter madness. You should have bumped that straight back. In fact if you've kept all receipts you could contact trading standards for advice on that. Laws in place with such a basket case for at least some of your money back.
I once test drove a 4 year old Kia Venga for sale from a Kia garage and the brakes were so bad, like really bad and asked are you going to change these? To which he replied no they’re fine 😂 it’s beggars belief what some traders won’t do even when it’s as plain as the nose on your face! If I lived anywhere near Crewe I’d happily buy any cars from you!
Have!
😉
There are the things we all hope for in our local garages but are never quite sure we get… do you have a web site address showing what is for sale? We will be looking for a tow car early next year and the wife wants a fiat 500 😅
This is why you can sleep at night
So many lazy trade sellers don’t bother doing this
We often think we’re busy fools - But it pays dividends later
need to change the cam belt
The aygo ya could drop it iff a cliff & it would still run!!!!! Have a C1 & it's bloody brilliant to iwn, no tax, chesp insurance, 60 mpg & it's terrific to drive, chesp motoring doesn't necessarily mean a poor car, these are case in point 😊🎉
Funnily enough I rang a dealer about a M135i, FSH but due a service to keep that maintained. Asked the guy about that and he seemed to think that just giving the car an oil and filter was enough for a 14k car. It’s crap because he wants to sell the car as a FSH but I’d have to take the car and then get it serviced to keep the FSH.
Great business principle “ you reap what you sow “ and can’t fake being genuine , hope to buy a car at yours sometime
Respect
Wouldn’t mind that Aygo for meself lol… how much Lee??
Keeping it, its to cheap to run to let go 😁👍
When I buys a car that's the 1st thing I asks a seller is have the cambelt been done and if so is there a invoice to confirm this..
If not then I'll agree a deal then get it done myself ASAP..
Hi do you get pacific case for people. As will be looking for a car end of November.
hi ive been watching some of your videos love em .i just need a bit of help please ive been sarching on youtube for the tire pressure for vauxhall zafira 2012 model cant find any hope someone can help as im going camping next month thank you
It's the story of FORDS....cambelt water bottle headcasket now its wet belts.....they have been in motoring how long but still same old story
Love your vids Lee, very informative and interesting as usual. However, this is just a minor and hopefully constructive criticism, no such phrase as ‘could of’. It is a misunderstanding from could’ve. Won’t change the world I know, think it is just triggering my ocd for spelling. Just ignore if you think I am being too sensitive. Lol.
Very good points you said about other dealers I bought a car from arnold clark paid over £17k but only three months later I needed 2 tyres on front was 2mm and back one's 2.5mm so not great compained but they were not interested never again buy a car from them
Good grief man punters will be expecting under 2 grand cheapies rebuilt before sale
I was so hacked off with Ford for my Fiesta first car in my life had to replace the CLUTCH 5 times!!!. Put me off Ford for life, went Japanese.
Is it a old fiesta (m.k.2) or m.k.3 ) the new won,s have problems
Without sounding completely senile, I refuse to buy anything other than japanese. Particularly Honda. This is from experience:
I've a very busy small business and don't have time to be waiting around all day or for days at a time for repairs/niggles. I've had relatively new VW, BMW, Mercs but there was always some niggly fault and in some cases big ones.
Honda- gets abused daily, never breaks ,ultra reliable. I've had 3 now. Currently have a 1
6 diesel HRV. 0 issues in 4 years. The DPF is right next to the turbo so gets nice and hot and doesn't get clogged up even with stop start driving.
That's what I need to earn a living. Keeps me mobile without fuss. Yes, the German marques are undoubtedly nicer to drive etc but I don't care. I just need to get into it and know it's going to do it's job. I honestly don't know why Honda isn't popular outside of the pensioner demographic in the UK. They love them in the states but they do have a much, much bigger selection
May you stay in business and the cowboys don't.
Do not buy anything with warnings on an mot
Yes, always try to rectify previous advisories
My son bought his 1st car from a main dealer even though I warned him not to,move on 7 months it needed a wet belt changed and other things and the price came to £710.He will never go back to THAT main dealer, when you're spending £10k you expect a perfect car and this was for the mot, they didn't even mot the car,our fault we thought it would come with 12mths. Learn by your mistakes. Excellent video
