- Ill be talking about the best fertilizing method for medium to high tech tanks! topics range from ALGAE, COSTS and a TUTORIAL on how mix your own fertlizers!!!!
Estimative Index is pioneered or popularized by Mr. Tom Barr. This is not just some arbitrary marketing phrase. An index is a reference point from which we can measure differences or deviations. We determine the amount of food required for a certain collection of plants under a certain set of conditions (maximum growth conditions). This amount required for max growth is the Index and we estimate what amount will then be required as conditions vary.

HASHTAG: #aquariumfertilizer #liquidfertilizer #EIfertilizer - Jak na to + styl
Thanks for making this vid. So informative and i learned a lot. I wish u make more contents
thank you! you can check out my youtube channel, I have a few videos available there.
Hi, can you tell me the fertilizer brand u use coz I can't find any
im using aquariumplantfood UK. for USA market look for GLA EI fertilizers. you can buy the individual recipe on a agricultural supplies shop
also, guess what. lots of people dose ammonia/urea as a source of N. they have algae-free tanks as well. this is because plants also prefer ammonia as a source of N over no3.
yeah, plants do uptake ammonia but can still cause damage. the only reason why that is possible is because of the established bacterial colony in the filtration system that is able to convert ammonia into nitrites and nitrates. ALSO please do consider the difference between ionized and unionized forms of Ammonia. There's a big difference there.
the only people I know of that are intentionally putting ammonia in their tanks are people kickstarting the nitrogen cycle but not as a source of N for plants. I'm a member of a bunch of niche Aquascaping and fish-keeping groups in Asia, the middle east and the EU so far can't seem to find the "LOTS OF PEOPLE" you're talking about.
please see 2HRaquarist's section about ammonia here ( www.2hraquarist.com/blogs/filters-overview/how-to-cycle-a-tank ).
pretty good explanation why "DOSING" ammonia isn't a great idea
Lots of people,,,, everyone who uses seachem and tropica products dose ammonia and have algae free tanks, so it is not fair to put down ammonia as the cause of algae.
EI is the Fertilizing for fun method
hahaha!!! i should have used that for my title!!!
Straight tap water gamit m pre mg WC?
Yup. Hard to very hard yung tubig ko pero OK naman, may ilang plants lang na iniiwasan ko gaya nung eriocaulon pero mostly OK naman lalo na yung mga Cryptocoryne species
Are the powders specially Made for aquarium use? Or are the powders pure chemicals?
Pure chemicals that can be used in aquariums. Ei method is popularized by Tom Barr. these chemicals are what's present in most if not all commercially available aquarium ferts. the Advantage is that you get to choose how much of each you want or need for example you need more phosphates for GSA, need less nitrates for red plants etc.
@@AquaristForFun ok soo i can buy the pure chemicals from a non aquarium store?
Yup. BUT and its a very big BUT! be careful when buying POTASSIUM NITRATE because aside from it being used as a fertilizer it is also a major constituent/ingredient in the production of gun powder or home-made explosives. So don't be a shady guy when buying the stuff they might report you to the authorities. HAHAHA.
but klidding aside, yes you can make your own and buy the ingredients individually. You might find difficulties finding the trace elements and potassium nitrate.
ever since i've used this DIY EI method, every 500ml bottle is like 1.16 pounds and saved me a lot of money and never had any issues with algae
@@AquaristForFun ok thank you soo much!! Can i ask you wherry you buy the trace elements? Everything is easy to find for me expect for the trace elements.
Lodi where do you think i can buy those ingredients here in the Philippines? D kasi ako sure kung tama or legit yung nasa lazada/shopee
sa shopee and lazada. Nung ginawa ko yung video na yan, i made sure na meron available sa Pinas. lahat meron naman. actually mas makakatipid ka sa ganyan, kasi mula noong ginawa ko yan video na yan, nakaka isa at kalahati palang ako ngn timpla tapos ang dosing ko is 20ml MWF and 20ml TThS
pwd pashare link ng pinag orderan m DIY ferts sir? :)
eto boss!!! www.aquariumplantfood.co.uk/

sa IG ako madalas mag post ng updates
eto boss
1 x 500g Potassium Nitrate
1 x 250g Potassium Phosphate
1 x 500g Magnesium Sulphate
1 x 250g Chelated Trace Elements
sa shopee/lazada meron
eto recipe ko,
Macro Solution
Mix, Shake & Leave to Dissolve Overnight:
4tsp Potassium Nitrate
1tsp Potassium Phosphate
6tsp Magnesium Sulphate
500ml Water
Micro Solution
Mix, Shake & Leave to Dissolve Overnight:
1tsp Chelated Trace Elements
500ml Water
Dosing:
Macro 3x a week. (10ml per 50ltr of Aquarium water)
Micro 3x a week. (10ml per 50ltr of Aquarium water)
20-50% weekly water change.
things to note boss, need mo mag 50%water change every week (Sunday)
and since EI fert method, need mo mag trim ng mas madalas, and wag mag expect ng super deep reds.
if gusto mo ng super red na plants, LEAN method ang gawin mo

Hehe sorry. I updated my description box with some of the links I got references from. There were a few more but instead of actually mentioning the topic they just mentioned it when they grew algae in a lab. The media used was either nitrate or a mix of ammonium - nitrate with different growth rates.
Other factors can still affect algal growth like lighting, fish health, CO2 levels, N and P availability, Plant health, beneficial bacteria colonies etc
