  • The estimative index method is incredibly simple:
    💉 Dose liquid aquarium fertilizer every morning as per your 'EI daily' calculations here - www.ukaps.org/forum/pages/nut...
    🚿 Conduct a 50% water change once per week to reset.
    In this video I unlock the secret to get rid of algae in your aquarium via the goldilocks of fertilization methods; the estimative index. I'll give you a really quick overview of what EI is, how I have used EI Daily Dosing to achieve balance in my aquascapes, and how to work out the right dosing for your fish tank too.
    This method will achieve fantastic plant growth which will out compete algae and make sure your aquarium always looks awesome!
    The UKAPS forum were kind enough to let me showcase their nutrient dosing calculators in this video, so huge thanks to them too!

    This method truly has changed my entire approach to aquascaping and high tech planted aquariums and is how to properly use aquarium fertilizer to beat algae for good! After over six months of using the method, I have incredibly consistent and healthy plant growth which has outcompeted any potential algae. The aquarium looks awesome, and the method is so simple that you simply cannot go wrong. So long as you keep up with weekly water changes that is.....
    It truly is a huge relief to have finally got rid of algae. I've had issues controlling algae in my aquariums for a number of years. This method to destroy algae seems like the easiest and best one to me, since the main by product is awesome healthy plants. I literally cannot remember the last time I saw cyanobacteria, brown diatom algae, hair algae, or green dust algae in my aquariums. It feels so good to remove all algae from my fish tanks!

    Can you do a EI dosing for low tech plants for Cherry shrimp and Community tanks with dense plant stocking.

  • @WhatIsMisophonia
    @WhatIsMisophonia Před rokem +1

    Well, this answers the question on a previous video about why you water change if you have heavily planted tanks... Still, purposefully over dozing just to do a massive water change every week seems unhealthy and more work than what's necessary. Frequent water changes, especially large water changes of up to 50% can be hard on fish, and also hard on people who have multiple tanks larger than nano size. Test kits can be a little pricey, but it seems like it'll save you a lot of work in the long run to avoid having to change out all that water, not to mention saving some money on the extra fertilizer you have to use over time.

    I know this video is a lil old, but great info. 1ml per 10L only once per week is fairly "lean dosing" which is the method I use for slow growing plants such as Buce, anubius, etc.

    I wonder, from the height of my newbie's still budding 'wisdom', if such method's success may be mostly down to the fact it ends up inadvertently mimicking the very same conditions plants have grown accustomed to (unintended pun) in nature.

    Hey, do you have any tanks with shrimp or snails in them? I stumbled upon TNC complete and I would love to try this methode. However I'm a little bit cautious when it comes to overdosing this fertilizer since it does contain copper.
    Did you ever had any issues with that?

    Thanks for the video. I’m thinking of trying this method as I’m suffering from gsa in my co2 injected nano tank. I’ve tired everything and I can’t seem to stop it.
    When I put my details into the calculator it is saying to dose 3.1ml. Is this a daily dose or is this split over the week?
    Thanks

    • @AquariumShed
      @AquariumShed  Před 2 lety +1

      Hiya, glad my video has helped. If you've selected EI daily then that 3.1ml calculation is a daily dose. Unfortunately pre mixed fertiliser is heavily watered down so to reach your targets you'll often need quite large doses. The most efficient way is to use dry salts, but that's probably a layer of complexity you don't immediately need. 👍

    • @AquariumShed
      @AquariumShed  Před 2 lety

      The thoughts surrounding that one vary. It's the same principle as the dry salts, so whatever you've read can be applied here. That said, I personally do not do a rest day and have had great results! 👍

    • @AquariumShed
      @AquariumShed  Před 2 lety

      I don't think just calcium and magnesium sulphate are going to cut it on their own. You'll need an NPK fertiliser and iron dosing at the very least. I now make my own fertiliser from dry salts - czcams.com/video/FPGVWuKef1g/video.html
