Fun fact: Roger Ebert liked Home Alone 3 better than the first movie, even saying it's not as violent (he must have missed the lawn mower trap scene).
I actually thought Home Alone 3 was just as, if not more violent, than Home Alone 2. Not only because of the aforementioned lawnmower scene, but also because of electrocution, falling down several floors, having wardrobe fall on you, as well as a barbell, etc. Heck, some traps were even more or less taken from the second film! I wonder why Roger Ebert thought that this movie wasn't violent.
That trap wasn’t even funny. It was just... brutal.
What i want to know is, how did he motorize a manual push mower? Pretty sure that's a push mower. It looks identical to the old ass rusted one my parents got.
Because it wasn't as violent? This is the same guy who liked the Mad Max films and also Robocop (to some extent).
It did lead us to one of his greatest debates with Siskel, who hated it. Ebert also didn't like the 1989 Batman, while Siskel loved it. Another great contrast, Ebert hated Eight Crazy Nights, Roeper liked it. Personally I like Eight Crazy Nights. It's a guilty pleasure, with some fantastic animation. It's the same animators who did The Iron Giant.@@tjjordan4207
Dude, this reaction was a genuine surprse to me! This was my very FIRST home alone film I watched as a kid in the late 2000s. Looking back now I did see it as inferior to the original home alone, but I still remember it.
To me this had the most insane traps
Home Alone 3, the directorial-debut of Raja Gosnell. The man behind the live-action Smurfs AND the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, Big Momma's House, Beverly Hills Chihuahua...
God, no more please. I can't get any more flaccid.
Some of John Hughes' writing decay is noticeable in the mid-90s from what I understand began after John Candy's passing since Hughes was so close and loved working with him. Hughes sadly became so depressed since and it shows through his writing being just cash grabs afterwards.
That’s just very depressing to tell you the truth. 😢
I agree with what Doug says about the lack of realism in this movie, as well as some of his criticisms in general, but he neglected that this movie franchise never had any realism. The first movie featured a kid being left home while his whole family went on vacation and going on to outsmart a pair of career criminals and rigging his house with so many traps that people can easily imagine him growing up to be Jigsaw. Not to mention the burglars from the first two films would've been killed several times over from the damage inflicted by those traps. I'm not saying this movie is amazing, or even as good as either of the first two, but it IS continuing the same pattern that the first two movies established IMO. What this film lost was the feeling that the family the kid had was loving, and the extremely over the top humorous reactions of the people falling into the traps. The lack of both these things definitely hurt the film, but not to the extent that it's completely awful IMO.
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying these traps, although as violence as they are, they’re not getting the appropriate impact, nor the right reactions of these characters. The dude in the glue shoe bucket keeps making the same goofy face, even when falling down the stairs. The reactions from the wet bandits were over the top, but reacted appropriately, and thus made it look like they actually hurt. There is never a sense of pain from these four criminals.
@@jake9565270I had mixed feelings about the third movie… it was nice having a new story and new characters but the villains were far fetched
North (1994) is actually Scarlett Johansson’s feature film debut
3's definitely not as good as 1 or 2 but its still watchable and has its own charm.
I cannot, however, say the same about 4, The Holiday Heist, or Home Sweet Home Alone. You can just look at them and know immediately that they were souless attempts to cash in on the franchise. At least with 3 you can tell there was at least A soul in it.
You should see AVGN playing Home Alone games with Macaulay Culkin.
Hell yeah. Amazing episode
Video starts at 4:22
Thanks Caleb
Thx Caleb
This was Scarlet's 6th movie. Her debut was North.
Came here to say this 👆🏻
North with Elijah Wood?
@@nsasupporter7557 Yes. NC made a video about it
@@dragonlynx9969 I think I saw it when it came out but of course I don’t remember anything about it hardly. Didn’t know Scarlett Johansson was in it.
The FBI agent explaining to the family about the missile chip will never not make me laugh. That actor's no nonsense delivery combined with Scarlet Johansson's dumbfounded face is fucking hilarious to me.
This was the first movie that i heard of the song Home Again by Oingo Boingo which surprisingly enough I didn't know was Danny Elfman's band (and yes its the same one who's done almost all of Tim Burton's movies and interestingly enough John Hughes' and Les Mayfield's Flubber.).
11:24 that plot came out of nowhere .
Nice your doing these reactions the critic, even though I do kinda like Home Alone 3, this review is funny.
The last good Home Alone movie. It's not perfect, but it's still pretty fun
Same I love home alone 3 and 2 like how does he say 2 suck and 3 or at the least 2 like
@@eagleangel5568if I remember correctly, he changed his view slightly on 2 but still sees it as inferior to the original. Mainly because he views it as a copy paste of the original plot but in New York.
@@DisorientedWanderer really but wouldn't that mean 3 is good since it's not a copy and paste lol 😆
@@eagleangel5568 that's true, but I think not keeping Kevin causes it to lose a few points for him. I don't mind 3 personally. It's the only other one I can tolerate outside of the first two. 4 and beyond are just... I'd rather watch that Christmas story live monstrosity. But never again will I watch Christmas story 2. It still haunts my dreams.
@@DisorientedWanderer i Like 4 but definitely the weakest but never watch the others after 4 but I love 3 personally like I love and obviously 1 and 2 are classic but idk how you can hate 2 like how
I recommend the three of you should watch Nostalgia Critic's review of the 2nd worst Christmas Special titled...
Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe In Santa
(WARNING)... it's worse than the christmas tree.
Beware.
I remember how much I laughed when Doug pulled out the gun.
Shut, That, Door!
Doug also reviews Home Alone 2, Home Alone 5 and Home Sweet Home Alone. Watch those next.
My god home sweet home alone that was...you know 4&5 were bad but good god 6 you there's missing the mark but then there's really missing the mark.
@@nickdorenkamp959 who the hell thought it was good to give the bad guys really sympathetic backstory and motivation while giving the kid absolutely nothing funny and making him annoying as hell.
He just recently did the original one
3:55 WRONG My Good sir! The feature film debut of Scarlett Johansson was in another which came out but a few years earlier. That being the Rob Reiner directed disaster known simply as "North."
I actually have a soft spot for home alone 3.
I have mixed feelings about 3. I liked it because it was a new story and new characters, but the villains were too far fetched. They were these high tech terrorists plus there were 4 of them
This was the last Home Alone film to be released theatrically.
I don’t dislike this film by any means.
BUT, it is a lot more contrived and unbelievable than the first two (and that is saying something). And the villains are nowhere near as memorable as Harry and Marv either.
I'm gonna have to Quote C.S. Lewis when it comes to kids entertainment..."A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest."...Hence is why I don't like it when other people despise critics like the NC here for reviewing kids stuff....If it was a GOOD kid's movie, it wouldn't be torn apart like paper
The traps were funny but overall it was a bad movie. Also John Hughes probably would’ve had a much better post home alone career if he didn’t write movies that were too similar to Home Alone or movies that had slapstick comedy
Alex’s parents deserve to lose custody of him. What idiots.
Doris is a rat, not a mouse.
I honestly like this movie. It's not the best Home Alone (obviously), and it isn't that good of a movie, but I still enjoy watching it every now and then
Plz watch his Grandma got run over by a Reindeer review if you haven’t already, it’s definitely one of his best and should be seen by all of you!
Love your NC reactions whatever you react to
I remember enjoying Dennis the menace when I was a kid but i remember hearing some things the kid went through on set. i don't know if it's true but doesn't change the affect it made on me and it kinda tainted my nostalgia
Pls react to Nostalgia Critic reviewing Home Alone 2, 5, and Home Sweet Home Alone.
You guys need to react to “the Nostalgia Critic, grandma got ran over by a reindeer”.
Fun fact: there’s a deleted scene in the polar express
How deadly are the traps in Home Alone by The Theorizer
He's done all the movies
My first Home Alone
I enjoyed Home Alone 3 as a kid, and I still like it as a guilty pleasure and I like the traps in 3
Olek Krupa is in fact a polish actor
The first Home Alone movie I saw, I actually recorded it on VHS.
I liked Home Alone 2 😅
Me too
why'd you skip nostalgia critic's home alone 2?
This film gave Jackie Chan vibes. From the beginning I mean.
fun fact! "Alice Ribbons", the actress who plays her in this movie is the same person who goes on to play Laswell in the reboot Modern Warfare tilrogy!
This is the only Home Alone movie that doesn’t take place in Christmas
Mrs Hess was not in AHS. Anyone know who they are referring to?
0:00-4:18-8:39-9:47-
You guys should react to his review of Nutcracker in 3D or Deck the Halls!
To be fair, they establish (well, hint at) Alex is very intelligent and very good with electronics and building. With allusions to his schoolwork and the contraption to feed his fish, Speedy. And you can tell from how he speaks he is quite smart. Maybe not to the degree the movie would want you to believe, but they did lay the groundwork for it this time at least.
Love from a Vaush and Cinamasscre fan!
Who is the girl with nate. I had never seen her before. But she is now in every video for last month or so.
That's Kate, she's been around for quite awhile now.
Don’t know if this is intentional but the sound cuts off at 21:29
Probably intentional, considering how demonetization-happy companies can be and the fact that particular part has the Looney Tunes theme playing as a joke about how cartoonish the scene is.
Home Alone 3 is my personal favourite of the Home Alone movies. I know it is considerably 'extra' with how it tries to include itself next to the first two films, but I feel it was the only movie past the originals which did the movie series right.
Same
8:53 Actually, Mara Wilson is an atheist.
I'm going to correct myself here; she used to be an atheist, but now she considers herself agnostic.
@@MrThischarmingman2 So like 90% of Atheists.
@@rambofan334 Not me.
I was terrified of the sequel of 101 Dalmatians the scene where cruella goes crazy where everyone becomes spotted
You mean 102 Dalmatians
Fun fact: The Boss of the group when he captures the kid (the scene with the bubble gun ) he says "Rozgniote cię jak karalucha!" (I'm going to crush you like a cockroach! in Polish)
3:08
10:38 Chinese nationalists.
26:39 the film: We think he intercepted a top-secret electronic device stolen from a defense department contractor by a group of international criminals working for a North Korean terrorist organization.

So there's another youtuber thats reacted to these 3 movies, he's pretty funny with some entertaining takes like the Nostalgia Critic. He's called the Unusual Suspect
I kind of like Home Alone 3. The first two are obviously the best, but this one is kind of entertaining
I love the older NC reviews more.
11:16 'What is this, Die Hard 5? What does this have to do with Home Alone?'
a poorly aged question?
to be fair though, Home Alone 3 is more entertaining than the actual Die Hard 5 (i can't believe i just said and/or wrote this).
Speaking of Home Alone, I recommend reacting to Doug’s reaction to the Nutcraker Movie with Rachel returning from LA
Speaking of John Hughes, he actually wrote the script of Dumb and Dumber… but he sold it to the Farrelly bros and asked his name to be discredited. That is wild, I just learned that recently
I never really liked the other Home Alones, and always preferred this one
To me, Home Alone 3 was the last real Home Alone movie. I haven't watched any of the ones released afterwards, but I always got a knockoff vibe from them.
The third movie was more like a “reboot” than another sequel
Damn they copyrighted the looney tunes part.
Is it even Christmas in this movie? I see no, but no Christmas. I watched this ounce and I don't remember a Christmas tree, lights, or even a mention of Christmas.
It’s set in January, you can briefly see a Christmas tree in somebodies trash at one point
@@mrcritical6751 It's like the Die Hard sequels stopped being Christmas movies. It loses some of its identity.
Hehe 666 views let's gooooo!!!
Edit: Say what you will about this movie, I will always appreciate the lawn mower trap! That's the kind of Rated R Home Alone shenanigans I wanna see the Corridor Crew make more of!
Well, at least this movie doesn't break the canon of the first 2 movies. Unlike Home Alone 4; the worst Home Alone film of the bunch. This is coming from a guy who only saw the first film once and the rest were just the Nostalgia Critic reviews.
I like Home Alone 3 it's my favorite overrated movie
Overrated?! How in the world is it overrated?
