- Here's where you can try Attack of the Clones by Olof Helleblad Johnson: app.crackingthecryptic.com/b4...
Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits do not repeat on the marked diagonal. Cells joined by X sum to 10; cells joined by V sum to 5. Each of the purple regions contain the same digits in the same positions.

2:33 Start Of Solve - Let's Get Cracking! - Zábava
When Mark solves the puzzle quickly, I think there's a chance the puzzle is approachable, so I gave it a try and was pleased to have solved it. About twice the time Mark took, which for me is good. Thanks, CTC, love your channel.
I'm always impressed by your ability to go back, find, and unwind mistakes. Often when I've gone wrong I either have to start the puzzle over entirely, or peek at your video to figure out where I've gone wrong.
Shouting 7, not 8 on the diagonal
For anyone who wants to skip past the error, 13:30 is when he figures it out.
Normally I don't understand what's going on, but I noticed that as soon as he put it and wow it was annoying aha
this was honestly painful to watch.
Probably a case of Simonitis.
Indeed. The only question was how much he was going to have to unravel. It always amazes me how much of a puzzle can be solved after a typo like that. And it never amazes me that Mark eventually figures out not only that something's wrong, but exactly what, why, when, and how! 😺💚
14:20 :) Totally surprised how quick I was on this one, doesn't often happen. Loved it nonetheless.
19:28
A nice gentle followup to the earlier deconstruction chaos. Enough challenge to be fun without bruising what remains of my grey matter too badly. 😂
at 14:55, no it can't be a 28 pair because if you combine it with the 28 pair above, it forces both 2 and 8 into r4c9
Came here to say the same thing. You can get the 9x1 pair on the x in box 9 so quickly with this logic!
@@BryanSarlo91 That's what I did as well. And then I went off on a tangent thinking about 9, and was actually able to place them all once you knew r7c7 was a 9 with the clone and diagonal logic. I thought I was wasting my time, but also finished in 13:42, so maybe it actually helped a lot with later parts.
Amazing! All the little deductions coalesce in a brilliantly laid out solving path.
21:35, nice solve, never felt stuck, glad I started coloring at the end.
First time ever trying this kind of puzzle !
It took me 84:11 ! Wow but I’m proud of myself it’s sooo satisfying !!!
Woo!
Yay! What a fantastic puzzle. Really liked how I had to jump around the various logical elements along the way to the solve. 40:42
11:42 finish. A nice little puzzle, but you definitely have to keep an eye on all the angles with the clones. Fun!
I somehow missed the roping logic initially and went the long way around for like ten minutes. The puzzle still worked, but I felt a little silly when I noticed it and realized it was available from the beginning. (Took me a little over 40 overall, which isn't terrible given how sloppy my bookkeeping was.) Excited to see this solved much more elegantly.
17:03, solved it by coloring cells right from the start.
26:50 for me - I really enjoyed the way the logic jumps around the grid
I finished in 10:12 minutes. This has to be the fastest I have ever done a puzzle on this channel. Everything agreed with me and I was speed. I love these short and sweet ones, in between the chaos of the long solves. As always, it feels good to beat Mark's time. Great Puzzle!
Finished in 12:34. Fairly straightforward sudoku which is approachable.
Fun puzzle!
For those maybe wondering about Mark repeating 7 in a funny voice, it's from a judge on a British game show - Strictly Come Dancing.
Time-mark?
Thanks
At time mark 20:21 .
Len Goodman, sadly no longer with us.

Finished in 19:27. I always love clone logic.
I messed up with eight and felt crummy.
I felt rather sick to my tummy
But I felt a bit fairer
When you made the same error
And now I don't feel like a dummy.
Using letters to label cells is becoming one of my favourite tricks. Specially in puzzles like this one. Very nice puzzle and solving, Olof and Mark,
17:42, felt like I should've been faster at this one. The Diagonal + Clone logic is more important than just the numbers themselves.
I used an alphabet substitution within the clone squares. Then used sudoku logic to solve it and replaced the letters with number as soon as the digits became apparent. This is my first time solving faster than Mark. But then again, I wasn't talking on camera while doing it but I still feel accomplished.
I did the same. I make good use of the letters. Mark and Simon were kind of resistant to including them in the app and virtually never use them. No idea why.
61 minutes for me. I very much enjoyed watching the misplaced 8s unravel in this video! I kept checking your progress against my completed grid and chuckling. 😝
I find it fascinating how some logic seem really natural for me while others it takes me a few minutes to get in the right headspace for a solve. This was a natural one with a finished time of 14m49s.
15:25 for me, started off a bit slow, but once I started colouring things fell into place nicely. Loved how the rulesets worked together on this one!
I was pretty sure because of the video length that I could do this puzzle, and so I tried it. What a fun puzzle, and I enjoyed the video, too, Mark. Anytime you solve a puzzle quickly, I am impressed. Anytime you have to backtrack, I learn how to think when figuring out where I went wrong. And I love the live solves, no matter what. Thank you!
9:47 for me. Not a bad puzzle.
Got it in 12:45 for me, nice and quick one today!
19:16 Fun to click through, one step at a time.
This one was so much fun! Thanks Mark!
00:10:48 - my time. Nice little puzzle.
I love clone puzzles!
13:17. Super fun approachable puzzle
11:07 for me. Nice puzzle!
No need to apologize for a typo, even if it costs time. Like others said it's always nice to see how you backtrack an error you made and get it right the second time.
Otherwise, your solve path, excluding the error, is as short as it could be, I think. Except perhaps, that the 7s instead of 8s on the diagonal are resolvable. The given 7 in box5 and the 7s already in the clones show the 7 in box 8 had to go into row 9 and so the 7 on the diagonal has to be in r8c8.
But seeing the roping in rows1-3 was something I only realized later, although it is clear from the two rows the two upper clones share from the geometry alone, without even a digit needed to deduce that. So those are the things you're still showing your expertise and experience and that's much more important than not mistyping. Misyping is something that also happens to younger people, especially people called Simon, I think. I deduce that from another youtuber also daily solving Sudoku puzzles. ;^)
Only half a minute slower than Mark. Wow. I used colors for the ropes and applied this all over the grid, which helped tremendously.
That was extremely fun! Thanks!
Nice puzzle; 9:20 for me. Very much enjoyed it!
Very nice and relaxing puzzle. 16:43 for me a good time. Normally I'm rather slow.
24:46 - That was nice.
13:37
I usually take twice as long as the video duration of Mark so I am really happy with my time.
55:03@#5633. With a break in the middle to get some sleep. I shouldn't have started it at the end of a long work day. I couldn't concentrate, and kept missing even the easiest stuff. After a few hours rest I came back and finished it up fairly quickly.
12 minutes. I started by placing letters for all the purple cells and solved using those, replacing them with numbers as I went.
I like making clone puzzles color puzzles for the fun of it. Probably took me longer but it looks nice.
I'm usually not very good at the clone constraint, but this time everything went smoothly and finished in 15:15 (conflict checker off)! Really great puzzle from Helleblad, many thanks to them!
Was pretty confident that eight in the bottom right corner will be correct as it often happens.
A nice puzzle, short and sweet! My time today was 9:04, solver number 9620.
Lovely puzzle - solved it in about half an hour and I am quite proud of myself ^.^
Really fun one, it took me 32 mins. Great video too
9:31. It was easier for me just to start coloring all cells, and it work as a charm
There are a few possibilities yet to be used. "A-Clone Again With You" -- "A-Clone Tonight" -- "I Just want To Be A-Clone". Just for starters. 😋🤪 -- I'll find my own way out .......
not sure why this flowed so super easily for me but i finished in 11:47, which feels weird when i usually take much longer than most others
3:54
ouch
--> 5:30
just keep tracking 7s. two more can be placed immediately.
then continue with other digits ... 1, 2, 3
Mark has two puzzles today
Better than no one🤩
15:28 for me, fun solve !
19:17 for me. Great puzzle.
15:08 for me. nice and easy sudoku.
20:58 for me. A solid performance.
Pretty easy one, done in 11:36
Ok, maybe my 40 minutes did include leaving the computer to make breakfast and prepare my lunchbox, because it felt more like a nice breakfast puzzle than a wind-down-after-work puzzle.
Stopped the video when he filled that 8 in the corner and came to read the comments to see what people are saying... 😃. (disclaimer: I didn't attempt a solve by myself, Mark is quite difficult to beat on these fast solves)
13:07 for me. Not much super fancy logic, but very fun all the same.
9:35 for me. Pretty easy but fun
I've finally done it, beat something faster than mark!! 17.13
19:24 for me, that was pretty quick.
Solved in 16:26, pretty proud even if it's a very easy puzzle.
wow I'm surprised you caught the invalid 8 so quickly.
oh gawd. 7 became 8, and now he's actually using it.
you're missing R4C7 is a 2 big time. It resolves the 2/8 pair in box 3 and that in turn resolves the X in box 9 and the location of 2 on the diagonal.
Where's the caption (and link to play it)? CZcams layout is messed up. 😞
Shows what Simonitis can lead to when not cured in time.
00:26:37 With only one mistake today I did pretty good.
The 2 in box 6 could help😂
The easy one! Solved in 12:57.
So sad, that he rejected to use the 2 in Column 7 together with the 28 pair in.
In fact the 28 X in row 1 rules out the row 7 X to be 28 as well, because the Clone would then require R4C9 to be both 2 and 8.
Look forward to Ghola references in future
Interesting without the givens
The design is completely colour solvable. But B1R1 colour(green)has pairwise letter solve and B1R2 colour(blue) has its own pairwise solve.
The given 1 dissolves.the green pairing and is needed. But only tells the digits of the other 2 colours.
Need another given to dissolve the other colours...thought maybe knowing the 7 cells were equal would finish but nope....but 1 given 5 instead of the 7s could dissolve it
Nice one. 9:10 for me.
I blame the diagonal obscuring the pencil mark.
00:20:56
There's some irony to be found in Mark making a mistake because of a typo in a video where he puts Stormtroopers in the thumbnail.
He has also referred to poor scanning as "scanning like a stormtrooper" before, although I think he borrowed it from someone else's comment on a previous video. The scanning around the 2 in r4c9 would seem to qualify.
12:04 for me
6:31 for me.
37:39 slow but got there. Solve 304
13:40 for me
41
Cool
33:14 for me and solver #3847.
You said 7 and typed 8
Feels like mark's penchant for bifurcation leads him to miss more obvious sudoku logic.
relatively simple solve, 5:31. Could've done better ho ho ho
8:45 for me, my fastest solve of this difficulty ever. Felt great!
Next time you need a clone title, try "Multiplicity." That's reaching back a ways but it works!
5:52 for me. Nice puzzle!!
