  • The switch lever does not move far enough to toggle the on/off switch. I'm looking for the reason why and what I can do to restore the lever's full range of motion.

Great patience my friend! My wife never understands why superlatives start to fly when working on projects. I asked her, have you ever worked on one simple task for an hour straight and gotten nowhere?? Try it sometime, let's see how soon you'll start hurling the superlatives ;)

Great job with your channel, Jim! I always learn so much especially since I’m newer to restoring vintage equipment. Just also wanted to mention that I just picked up a 1215 with this exact issue. Instead of WD40 I used a few rounds of Starting Fluid and in my case that fortunately freed it up without the need for an additional spring. Thanks for your fantastic work!

Good work. They are indeed mechanical miracles of Germany. The smooth operation and quiet, delicate cycle was never duplicated by anyone else. The tone arm had much less friction and mass than most others and the spindle setup also was revolutionary

I commend you for your perseverance and patience with this phono. I doubted the mechanism was the cause. How does a pivot point freeze up unless it was stored or used in harsh conditions? You once again methodically dissected the problem and used your well thought out theories to come to a successful outcome. I am now thinking out loud to see if it helps me. Thanks

I've spent hours just a minute away from success. Thankfully, there is only one more video to go on this turntable.

I dare to wonder if Emile Berliner had used the pick-up system the Thomas Alva Edison had used on his cylinder player and used it as the pick-up system on his record reproducer that would swing over the disc to be played and would be driven by the platter in such a way that the pick-up would move very slowly towards the label and then be forced against a second drive system that would move the pick-up back to the start and disconnect the drive from the platter thereby stopping playback then we would not have these record players we see today and Linear Tracking Turntables would be the norm rather than the exception and come to think about it the RCA CED was a Linear Tracking Turntable that played CED discs and I wonder why it could not have been made to also play LPs as well would have allowed to system to stay around much longer and killed off the VHS and LASER VISION discs as well.
