My god, this is the sound of my 21st year here on earth. It was so difficult, but there was harmony.
Man F awesome this is music
Totally awesome video stunning
I saw this same acoustic C&N show at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, Los Angeles, 1970 or '71. Mama Cass Elliot was in the first row and took a bow. The laughter was real. The humorous antics between songs was as great as the music. Now we're just a bunch of old dudes. Ah, the good old days. Youth is wasted on the young...
I’m making up by listening to all the bands I didn’t get to see or buy their albums. 👌🏻
Maybe one of THE BEST performances EVER!!
Agreed. Recommend: 'Another Stoney Evening', a concert of these two giving another outstanding performance.
I agree
Oooweee that Guinnevere is giving me chills. Pure angel sound from heaven, here on Earth. Imagine being there.
That key change in the bridge is an absolute heart stopper. Crosby nailed it compositionally, big time.
At their absolute peak!!!!
In more ways then one
my favourite performance by these two!! David... what a guy - high as a kite with the voice of an angel.
Everyone keeps on saying that he's stoned out of his gourd but I've always thought he was being himself! Then again, when isn't David Crosby high?
@@Michael69 I’ve listened to a couple of interviews with Crosby, and he admitted that prior to his incarceration and subsequent liver transplant, he never performed on stage without being under the influence of something
@@sandtoy11510 I dig it. Jimmy Page also said he never did one gig with Zeppelin sober. I wonder how much of it is exaggerated or just misremembered. Either way, I love the stories! Thanks for sharing 🙂
two genius
Simply superb.
They are so brilliant together
Man... Traction in the Rain just breaks me... What a beautiful song. I mean, all the songs are absolutely outstanding, but Traction in the Rain has this special thing that always gets me.
Very mischievous and happy bouncing spirit.
I love this performance. Their voices are so clean and beautiful!
Damn! I'm always amazed by what Crosby adds with his vocal harmonies.
I'm a huge fan of David Crosby, my older brother turned me on to CSN in 1974 and I have never quit loving them
👏👏👏👏👏
Man they're on fire here. They sound so good!
Thank you for this upload. My all time favorite. DC at his prime.
I think I've been in heaven for half an hour
The perfect combination of songs, voices and personalities
David is like a smiley walrus and Graham is so polite together they mare like marmalade on toast even go as far to say Strawberry Jam Genivelle is so enchanting and musically alluring it pulls you in like a very strong polarity force and she has green eyes and drawn pentagrams it's just super abilities and songwriting skills together.. I really get this performances I hold as their best! It has got it all! Not a creative stone left unturned!
Mesmorizing. Truly lucky to have come across this
Happy I stumbled on this performance - Amazing!
it doesn't get any better WOW !!!
Never realized until listening to David Crosby alone and songs he wrote ! Leland Skylar played a homage to DC. What an amazing voice. Watched some earlier tapes and realized cb how funny and sweet he was. From this end I certainly did not know him.
I never realised what a voice he had until I had heard his demo of "Almost Cut My Hair" from the Demos album that came out in 2009. Beautiful vibrato and control
Who would thumbs down such a Beautiful Set-Love this!
GREAT
❤

Ahhhh David, you are high as a kite. As always! Legend!
50 years ago, incredible
I remember going to their concer in Osaka, Japan. Must have been back in 77 or 78. I thik it was ther first Japanese tour. And the last song they performed was Teach Your Children. And everyone was singing along! Watching this video takes me back there!
David had such pretty eyes.
And a pretty heart, too ❤️
Thanks for uploading this!! One of their best performances!
Fuck me this is 50 years ago
I love Graham Nash
I've been reading the awesome new biography on CSNY so this is great to visually see where Graham and David were after the end of the1970 CSNY tour. Thank you for posting this! They seem so happy.
Is that the one by Peter Doggett?
Two D-45 Martins. Doesn't get any better.
1969 D-45 (The first year of resale after the war)
I heard that csny got it.
I was lucky to have been working in the sound department at the BBC then and not only got to see this performance but to hold and play Crosby’s D45 Martin between rehearsals. Incredible time.
Martin's yes! Those guys voices are a natural God given talent.
Great quality! Thank you!
I feel like society's overall noise level has increased and patience has faded since those days. You could hardly play a number as soft and silent as Traction in the Rain today without constant bickering in the audience.
I cannot thank you enough for uploading this in its entirety, in one piece. This is my absolute favorite performance of theirs. Thank you!!! 💖
You're absolutely welcome! Be sure to share it with all those who love their music :)
Michael I'm planning to do just that in a few minutes on twitter!! 💖😊
The singing interweaves so delicately in this performance. Touching.
magic
The best of the best from C&N
thanks for this!
Fantastic thank you for uploading this peace brother
Thank you man!
My youth...
I hear you way in the past
Thank you.
That was amazing. Recorded two days before my 16th birthday; I'd like to go back.
Actually ON my own 16th birthday! Greetings. Me too....sigh, for my youth.
Joni was crazy to have dumped Graham! What a hottie! Lol Thank you Michael for up loading this. Been a fan for many many years! What a gem! I hope these two can forgive each other BC life ends someday, but I'm not them so I'll shut up now. Life is nothing without music, love & someone to care about!
We all wish they would kiss and make up but who knows whether it'll happen or not. Crosby probably won't last another 10 years and Graham is not going to be the one to make the first move.
My ex who was in bands always talked about how being in a band is like being in a intimate relationship. Sometimes you can't always go back no matter how great it use to be. BUT the heart & love creates an opening. I hope they can at least make peace, b/c dog gone it they made beautiful music together for a really longtime!
@@ceciliaa8073 That's a great analogy. I've never thought about it like that before. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
@@Michael69 thank you for putting this gem up on the tube. The pros of staying home during the covid. You get to listen to good music that you use to listen and see live. Stay well🌹
@@ceciliaa8073 Have you seen Graham and David live?
Early beatboxing on Marrakech Express
at their best.. never been that good after!
Hope this one stays up! Love this performance! In times past, the post of this whole performance ends up going away for some strange reason.
I'll try my best to keep it up!
That’s what she said! Yeah I said it
I remember their song "love the one your with"
Way back then I went to a concert at LA Valley College and Peter Yarow of Peter Paul and Mary sang his song.
"If your not with the one you really love no one else will do"
Merci Merci!!!
They were the exact representación of the happy culture. Love and care about our “mother ” Earth and our brothers and sisters.
Well, I was 7 months old nearly to the day.....................
Hey Michael put a sync on your setlist
If only they hadn't edited out Right Between the Eyes. It was on the original BBC broadcast but I only have a poor generation VHS of that. It was cut from subsequent reruns.
I had no idea! Thanks for the info, I hope I can find that somewhere online
@@Michael69 Here's the original setlist Simple Man Marrakesh Express
Guinnevere
Song With No Words
Teach Your Children
Right Between The Eyes
The Lee Shore
Traction In The Rain
Crosby, in his early years, just didn't know when to shut up and just sing. Otherwise, this is a beautiful snapshot in time.
It's who he is as a person and he has not changed one bit. He likes being a clown but can also be dead serious when necessary. He seems to be enjoying himself and the audience seems to enjoy his presence, too. If he didn't joke around in between songs nor would he sing or play the same way either. You can't have one without the other. It's David Crosby.
Well, in case you didn't notice, he also seems high as a kite...
@@fiucik1Graham was probably just as high. They must've shared a joint outside the studio beforehand.
Lee Shore. For Shore !! :)
I love those harmonies..Both guys may have been coked up or whatever... They were amazing !
that Marrakesh 😦
amazing
These 2 guys together are phenomenal.
Crosby obviously drugged outta his nut makes no diff. Its outstanding.
Footstompin' Leroy Scott I think they were just stoned at this period
@@darthjesus420 I think it was a little more than just that.
51MontyPython maybe cocaine. I’m not sure when that began
Guinnevere 5:52 The Lee Shore 19:48 Traction In The Rain 24:34
i'm surprised they didn't play the song Chicago! maybe they hadn't written it yet!
Is that Tony Clifton in the background @ 4:53? ;-)
Haha no it's Ray Thomas of The Moody Blues
@@bobcorbin3294 haha, really?))
What's with the laugh tracks?
It almost seems as though they have recorded the audio of the audience separate to that of Crosby and Nash and have tried (rather unsuccessfully) to piece them together so it flows well.
@@Michael69 It sounds like the audio has been enhanced somehow when it was converted to HD. I think the sound is better on the 5 outtake clips of the individual songs that have been on CZcams for awhile.
It should be mandatory that this is shown at schools.
❤
What's in that guy's mouth at 18:25?
A smoke?
I think it's his pick.
50 years ago musicians ought to know music. How to play real instruments. How to do really singing. Not anymore. Today, rap crap and shit hip hop deny all that.
