This made me smile. From the first words about finding love again, to his enduring friendships, and finally, about leaving the world a better place through tending to the simple things. Lovely man, lovely human being.
The music of my youth. Forever stamped on my mind and heart. Love that he keeps keeping on, never losing his true core self.❤
Well said KatyDonald.
I had the pleasure of working with Graham in 1994. One of nicest and kindest humans I ever met
Very fortunate indeed!! He always seemed to radiate a much different warmth than Croz or Stills.. what superb talented artists.
He kept CSNY together for years!
That was a delightful interview~ thank you immensely‼️🫶🏼🌎🇺🇸✌🏽
Thanks Graham. Lovely interview. CSN&Y was and remains one of my favorite bands. Have seen all of you and your bandmates in many variations more than anyone else in concert. Your beginnings as a band was magical, just as your relationship w/Joni is, one of my other favorites. It’s hard to believe she didn’t realize how much people appreciated her. Her songs, and yours, have helped me so much through life! And I’m happy you and David were working things out. I knew his end was near, but he was near to my heart as well. That first song you harmonized with Crosby & Stills still makes me stop and sing along. No wonder you left the Hollies for something special. Thanks!
Wonderful interview. We are losing so many of our incredible ground breaking musicians of the 60s and 70s. Thanks for capturing Mr. Nash in this interview.
Thank you, Graham, for your lifetime of contributions to our collective humanity. Where to go from here?
To eventually be buried in Blackpool England 🏴 Great Britain 🇬🇧 I would think.
Regards
🇬🇧 🤝 🇺🇸
@@steffanhoffmann And then on to his next trip, ascending each time, closer to nirvana.
@@rft2001 Once you're dead that's it mate.
@@steffanhoffmann Maybe or maybe not. No one knows. Some of the people who I feel got closest to the truth believe in nirvana, but there is plenty of room for the other view as well. I stated mine as fact because you stated your view as fact. In fact, neither of us can prove the other wrong.
Its nice to hear Graham speak so positively. His work will endure throughout the ages.
I’ve been a fan of CSN for over 50 years, had the pleasure of meeting Graham for an instant after a show. I was and still am humbled by his talent and integrity. The world IS a better place with you in it Graham.❤
What a gift to grow up on Graham’s music and harmony with CSNY. He is precious to me.
Graham Nash is a personable, truthful man. His singing abilities are that of Angel! You brought the sixties and seventies to life and made it bearable. Thank you my friend!❤
Thank you Graham for painting our lives with hope and love. I always share my umbrella with my love too.
I always loved Graham Nash. So glad he is happy and making music again. Very kind and good man.
Thank you for the love, I will be nothing without a fan like you.
He seems like a gentle, kind and thoughtful man. Maybe I'm waaaayyy off but I'm pretty good at reading people and that's my initial impression . That is usually accurate.
CSN, they’ve been a high influence on my life . RIP David!
Graham Nash has always been a sweet and decent man. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a photo convention when he was promoting Nash Editions. He was a gentleman. People know his work in music, but his creativity extends into many fields and his kindness permeates everything he does.
I have always admired this man. Not just his music, but his human existence.
Wonderful interview, thank you
Thank you Graham ..I lost my stepsister in 1970 she ran away from where she was living (abused) & came to live w us Nov ‘69 all she had was her brown leather fringe jacket & an Abbey Road album under her arm & she smelled like English Leather. She then introduced me to CSN & I knew at that minute that music, particularly your music would always be a big part of my life 🎵 I have gone to see CSN many times and both you and David’s solo tours and your books. I feel like you are a good friend! I am so glad that you & David reached out to each other before his death. David had a bad habit of open mouth insert foot ( as my Mom would say). Looking forward to your new album and all your music left to come 🎵 ps I also have a copy of Marakesh Express signed by you(one of my prized possessions) .❤️
We still love you Graham Nash. . . and We miss David Crosby, who was a passionate musician!
I'm a fan of Graham Nash and a big fan of David Crosby, his "if I could only remember my name" is in my top 10 albums ever, they are both great musicians, Graham and David together were magic
David's album is incredible.
I am a proud fan of Croz and Joan. Will always be. But I consider Graham Nash to be a mere support role person. Good one at that. No disrespect intended. But he is more like Art Garfunkel in Simon and Garfunkel act. This means, the brains behind the artistic output is someone else's primarily and one person just supports and complements. The album If I Could Only Remember My Name is brilliant.
"If I Could Only Remember My Name" is definitely one of the greatest albums of all time. So unique and beautiful.
@@sh230968Your analogy is horrible...
@@sh230968 I believe you are severely wrong here.
Nash wrote important songs from the start in CSN&Y and forward - still does.
He was and is a spectator/ideologue/commentator - but yes, fortunately also a heart-writer.
Besides his high harmonies guaranteed the angelic dimension in the mighty band.
C being the spirit - S the solid main-motor.
Eeehh, Y the kind of unfathomable scarecrow. .
I have loved this man for many years of my life. Not only is he an amazing musical talent, but the intelligence he has just pours through his veins. We must protect him at all costs!
What a wonderful man and excellent interview!
Changed my life too,for the better. I thank you all.
Can't imagine what my/our lives would have been like without all that beautiful harmonizing and inspiring lyrics from CSN and CSNY. And Graham's voice was the cherry on top of it all. And his spirit certainly fed all of their music as well. What a gift, this man. I'm so glad to know he's happy. Blessings onward, good man!
Love this guy, genius musically. T and B politically are both NUTS. I am also an elder and will be sad to leave the planet while it
is still in such a volatile state. I am just so grateful to have shared the planet with some of the best music most likely ever created.
Volatile state?? Precisely the time you'd want to leave, I should think. Non-stop adversity of one sort or another on the heels of the pandemic. Even the once optimistic Nash looks and sounds defeated and forlorn.
@@davidmurray2539 I don't think he sounds defeated, just tired, because I think he tried through his music to enlighten. As for me I came to work for peace and will do so until I cannot.
@@bluerayfrequency7335 There is simply nothing that rock stars past and present can do about the absence of peace. However, I'm respectful of the work you do without even knowing the nature of it, just by assuming it's at a level of actual contact with people or causes directed towards making society a little saner, healthier, better. Graham Nash is by many accounts a far more controversial figure than the overwhelmingly fawning comments on this thread would have you believe. And I'll leave it at that.
This was wonderful to watch. CS&N were and are my favorite group. Things change but my memory of their music is still a part of me.
I feel the same 💓
I’m pushing fast towards 60 this summer and while drive-dancing the other day listening to the 10000 Maniacs, ‘These Are The Days,’ I realized how our historical music soundtracks can emotionally and physically transport us back to those times. Beautiful experiences with music live on forever. 🫶🏼🌎🇺🇸😘💙👍🏽
Thank you for the love, I will be nothing without a fan like you.
I just went to his concert yesterday. He is fantastic. Great man for writing songs which are so meaningful and impactful.
When you watch Joni Mitchell play the Isle of Wight she tunes her guitar to an alternate tuning. This is one woman in front of thousands of people their to see their favourite Rock band. She's up there tuning her guitar with not a care in the world. That took some huge courage in my eyes I know I could Never do it :-) Peace
Graham has held true to the spirit of the 60's after all these years. Activism, peace and love is important, especially in these days of division and turmoil. What an interesting gentleman.
He left his wife and kids in England to be w joni Mitchell. That's not very loving
Ok, one bad thing. Marriages break up all the time, especially in that industry. He's left a legacy and reputation to be proud of.
Going to give this album a listen.
@@KittyCarlile-490 Point taken.
@@johnhalverson1133 this was sometime ago. I back off my early comment. I've really no comment here. Seems like a decent fella. Always liked his album For Beginners, particularly Military Madness
What a classy stand up guy
We're fortunate to all be getting old together
No kidding. Iam 78!😮
@@user-fg4fr2bz5y 50! Keep rocking on!!
As a fellow Salfordian. I love this man, not only for his music, but his outlook on life. Had the great pleasure of seeing him at the Lowry a few years ago. Missed him this year through various circumstances, but hope so much to See him on his next visit. He has worked with so many great musicians. C,S,N,Y and all the Hollies. Of which Tony Hicks was such a brilliant guitarist.
This band and Joni are what inspired me to be a HIPPY CHIC! 62 AND STILL A HIPPY!
What a touching interview. Mahalo a aloha nui Graham for sharing your music with us ❤
Thank you for the love, I will be nothing without a fan like you.
My heart broke hard when David passed.. please live the rest of your life for him too.he said no one could sing Guinevere quite like you with him..best wishes n keep touring.. please come back to Chicago n St.Louis..❤.. forgive 🙏
Graham Nash has had the most interesting life and artistic trajectory. He was a star from England with the Hollies. He crossed an ocean and a continent to become a legend in North America, over and over. I would love to hear him talk about THAT - the "dark miracle of Chance" that saw him through those transitions, and how he feels about that. I am a fan, and I completely believe in his talent. I'm just not sure that Walter Isaacson got the best from him!
No Mama Cass Elliott there in Laurel Canyon as the matchmaker and party central, NONE of this would've happened. At one of her parties the look on Clapton's face (yeah, Mama invited him there too) when he sees Joni for first time in the yard with her alternate tunings is priceless while Monkee Mickey Dolenz wanders taking 16mm home movies of the party🎸
What a bright, smart, intelligent man. So gentle, polite. Songs for beginners is one of my favorite album. But I love Now as well, This Path... and many others. Especially those with Croz. I love Graham. I've always considered him the gentle soul of CSN(&Y) ❤
Joni is something else something very special
Gosh, this is so beautiful.
Can't wait to hear your new album, Graham! Life-long fan!
I'd say he's a mixture of sadness and beatitude all rolled into one.
I chose Sleep Song from Songs from Beginners as the soundtrack for a Super 8mm film. I made it at College of Marin in the 80s and showed it in our film festival. The words and rhythm touched my heart and inspired me. It was the theme of so many of my relationships. I always wanted to show it to you in my dreams. Graham your kind, caring spirit comes across in your voice and I feel everything is going to be alright. Thank you for all you music!
Ahh! He chose "Our House," and "Teach Your Children"...they're MY favorites, too!
Folk hero to me, long may he run!
Love his comment after hearing the harmonies at Joni Mitchell’s house: “I’m not stupid. I’m a musician.” Goodbye Hollies.
Good interview. Graham Nash is an iconic eloquent master musician and artist. Graham, come back to Ithaca, NY and the Finger Lakes, we miss you!
Graham gave a terrific show in Cincinnati last year.
Grahams a Heavy lifter....with a Magical Voice from above....Big Winner....We re very fortunate they all met.....even Uncle Neil....that took it to another level too.....Keep Rockin Mr. Nash and God Bless you...
So great to hear from GRAHAM again. Saw him live in Ghent (Flanders, Belgium) 2 years ago and wow what a great performance.
WOW. NO WORDS.
Fantastic interview
Class act this one!
I just sat, listened and cried, to my first idol that brought me busstop, look through any window and so much more. Joni Mitchel was, is and will always be loved as will CSN&Y they were a part of our generations finest growing up, I learned to play the guitar on Our House, Teach your Children Wooden ships, Old man, Alabama If I am afraid of passing away it is because I wonder if I'll meet them all in heaven or not. is there a special heaven for them? Thank you Graham I hope you will read this and send me an autograph I will carry you around when I go to Morocco sorry my lack of words not sorry for being emotional.
oh yeah an Yellow Taxi, Woodstock as Joni sang it
Graham…..
Long May you run 🤗
One minute he's chasing groupies in 1960's Manchester, then he's part of an American Supergroup, and suddenly here he is in his 80's. Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana.
I love this guy since 1969😊 best band CSN and a really great Human with a Big heart ❤ thanks a lot for your music, your wonderful gigs and your wonderful personality
Oh goodness. I was involved in an accident . I was shocked and the person who hit me confronted me . I was very apologetic and horrified at what had happened . He didn't say anything. Then he smiled !!!! It took me a few minutes to realize who he was. TY Graham Nash .
Graham Nash.......You are a class act!!
I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing Graham here in Sandpoint Idaho on 7/7/23. Thanks for the interview.
Rose tinted specs need to come off with these people
Thank you Graham. I first saw you in the Hollies in Green Bay, WI in 1967. You and the guys opened for Peter Noone and his gang and I still remember your drummer breaking a snare drum which was quickly replaced. Bobbie Elliot? I think was his name and I remember noting how pale you guys kinda looked. I guess like those other guys said, that's how you get your tan standing in the english rain. I Loved the Hollies and that other band you were in after that. God Bless Graham Nash!
I love Graham Nash so much
“A better life” Oh so Soul felt by me!!!! Early in the Trump Presidency, I realized his threat to my children and grandchildren! I became very outspoken and continued through much criticism. I have not quit because the fight is for them not me. At age 66, I am so determined to fight for their future. Leave this world a better place than what we had❤
Well said! I am with you!!
It is so conflicting and we will probably never know the truth. Just last night I watched an interview and he said with his own mouth that they sang together for the first time in Peter Tork's living room and then in other interviews, (like this one), he says it was in Joni's living room. He has also said it was in Mama Cass's living room, lol. Not that big of a deal, just wonder which it was...
He was also in the 60’s group the Hollies, a very successful band.
I love you and saw you in concert in London where I used to live in the late sixties in Kensington Gardens...I am so happy for you to have found a woman worthy of you and you worthy of her..
Thank you, Gentlemen!🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞
I'll say this -- there have been maybe half a dozen albums that changed my life fundamentally. (And hundreds that helped make me who I am!) One of them is 'Songs for Beginners.' I had already loved all the CSN(+Y) stuff, superb, and meaningful, and impactful. Then alongs comes SfB, and -- wow.
I always thought the first song they sang together was Helplessly Hoping.
me too, guess not. but i bet they gave a few more of Stephen and David's songs a test run that night ... would have given anything to have been there but I was just a wee lad 😢
I really wish David lived to call Graham so they could reconcile.
Graham could have called David by good old phone, rather than setting up a date to Facetime. Kind of sad that Graham now mentions David so lovingly, when he was mad as hell at David for so long and apparently refused to talk to him. Nothing like dying to bring out the accolades absent during life.
David had tried to apologize many times , but it was Graham who refused to talk to him.
Funny how time changes memory.
Nash is the sweetest guy. I hope he lives forever. But I miss his goatee. That's important! Lol. (I know!) They never mention his huge contribution in the Hollies. The other huge brit invasion group named as tributes to Buddy Holly. His political songs are excellent, as they describe the individual experience of people caught in it. Not preachy, but earthy.
When has Graham mentioned the Hollies contribution to his career? All of his reflective comments regarding the Hollies are about the glory of leaving them.
@vintagekart2 well, he may not have liked them, but he did some pretty cool work in them. On a carousel, pay you back with interest, there was likely an identity crisis, as they had another lead singer, but I always thought they were a great band. Bus stop, Carrie Ann. Stop stop stop. He was credited as the groups leader on the first album, though Alan Clarke had most of the leads... Graham sang most of the REALLY high parts on the bridges... just like stills in Buffalo, they had to venture forth... I don't recall him feeling regret over his time in the Hollies.
I have listened to JONI MITCHELL on several levels and sang her tunes back in the day ..... an awesome talent in PLAYING GUITAR, PIANO, COMPOSING & OF COURSE A NATURAL SINGER OF PHENOMENAL QUALITY AND UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE in musical performance - shear beauty in expression and tonal excellence !!! None like her..... EVER !
The man had the clearest vision a long time ago, it's clear to me that now it's pure and more clear than ever.
Nice interview.
It's time for the "NOW NEWS."
NOW, as in right now.
True Blue! 💙
❤ always and always
Musicians still have first ammendment rights to speak out their political ideas in America.
Graham, you are definitely NOT CRAZY.
I have to say - I gave always loved their music - each, together in duo, three and even four (incl. Neil Y.) and I am disappointed that Graham did not mention - indeed praise the talent of Steven Stills .... he was a multi instrument talent, singer and composer far above any in this conversation .... he is underrated vastly in the industry. Graham knows better. They were once a phenomenal musical experience ! Still love them and Joni ...... God bless and keep you all !
It tuns out that pop stars are human beings with all of the flaws of the rest of us, in varying degrees, with the major exception that they are multimillionaires. The youth movement made them wealthy.
I only have got into CSNY in recent years. Today i realised why .When CSNY were at their height i was heading to college. Now im making up for lost time.
Mind-blowing, better late than never I guess.
It's Christiane Amanpour - sophisticated journalist and international reporter.
They became the establishment.
Wait, was it at Joni's or Cass' house that CSN first sang together? He changes the story
No,he doesn't, Nash and David always said they met at different times.
Thanks for my 1977 politics and Graham giving me the voice of civil rigjts
i love that he called her cass elliot
Immigration man is sounding so loud and clear right now. Thank you, I have enjoyed this video
♥
Seems like a great man
His kids and ex wife don’t speak to him
His body not working too well anymore but his brain better than ever
Which golden idol are you the mouthpiece for?
Are you high again?
Sure as hell ain't your orange turd.
Now that singer David Crosby has passed away on January 2023. This group renamed as Crosby-less, Stills, Nash and Young or Crosby-less, Stills and Nash, Crosby-less and Nash.
So up his own arse. Wrote many good songs, like MANY other 60s bands. I liked Crosby's bluntness and honesty and he had the best voice, for my money. Graham likes to embellish EVERYTHING.
It was a very measured interview. Absolutely nothing puffed up, and I have no huge investment in Crosby/Stills/Nash. So your crassness says far more about you than it does Nash.
Seriously,you sound like a Simpleton.
I like immigration man. The version he does live in a park.
He left his wife of 38 years and immediately moved in with his girlfriend that's 37 years younger. Oof. Could you imagine dating someone that's younger than your own children?
😢
Yes, if the date took place entirely in the dark and I had the wherewithal to slam the door shut against all thoughts of my children, or their ages, but that's just me.
At last sensibility instead of crass comments 🇬🇧 👍
What I wanted so bad was to see David crosby see his friends from CSN & CSNY before he died 😢 I watched remember my name but all those yrs of playing & friendship you can't let go of the past mistakes 💔 and go see him he miss his friends 😢 & what about his wife Jan is anyone there to help her !! I have loved both bands for so long and at the end I was disappointed in everyone why can we or all just get back together as friends before he passed !!
It was just sad all of it
R.I.P. DAVID CROSBY
I'm sorry I never heard of that or about that !! Did you read it in a sleezy magazine 🤔 do you know this for sure or just more BS to man who can't defend himself !! Leave Jan I find that hard to believe but whatever !
The man loved his home his animals his WIFE & SON ; SO your saying he's gonna give all that up for a younger woman I'm sorry I can't believe that show me proof or call it as I see it BS !! ALWAYS AFTWR THEY DIE HEAR COMES THE LIES MORE BS 💯 NEVER WHILE THERE ALIVE !! WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS 🤔
GREAT JOB 👍
DONT BELIEVE IT ********
In the order of my love for each member, it would be CSYN. I must clarify that C sits right in the sky. S is high and lofty too but C is up there. Y is so so. N is less than so so. Yet, respectable.
That call should have happened. I'm certain in his mind it was "Just as I thought" when it didn't. Clearly it was needed and he's not 100% "over" it like he would be.
Some things are just meant to be.
I think it is a mistake to make any song, let alone a classic such as Teach Your Children, available to an advertiser. It spoils our enjoyment of the song.
Wow...that first statement must have stung his first wife of 38 years/mother if his children. I would have expected him to be kinder.
