I think it's just an old school hockey my way or the highway mentality, or another way to show he's in charge not the players. My minor hockey team was the same way because they just bought jersey's 1-33 lol.

Not only did he walk away with the Sedins, the entire first round that year was hot trash. He found the only two good pieces.
I was just appalled by the Vancouver fans when they booed the Sedins, not for one year, but several.
Brian Burke is correct in this one. Some Nux fans r just nuts. Scary thing is that they seem like they dont know much about hockey on top.
Vancouver's got a lot of that "fake city person" kind of thing that I don't quite know how to describe.
Lots of the bizarre negative takes come from people who don't pay attention to the sport at all, but they want to fit in and feel involved.
I just wish Burke drafted Seguin and Hamilton instead of trading for Kessel.

I believe it's a traditionalist thing; in hockey, high numbers used to only be given to rookies in training camp.
