Rice has been consistent across the whole season and started all games that I am aware off, and has been a revelation for Arsenal and he could lead them to their first league title after 2 decades. Whereas Gvardiol who was benched frequently across the season, just now started picking up form at the end of the season.

I think Mark has misjudged the Manchester City thing. I think the issue with Manchester City is that they have such an aura of invincibility that smaller teams put out weaker sides because they think getting 3 points is impossible even with their strongest side. So they put out a weak side, resting players and give up 3 points and instead look to the next game.

It's hypocrisy for Mark to call out Tottenham and say they'll purposely underperform because they do not want Arsenal to win it and give up on any shot at a Champions League spot, but will not say Manchester united fans similarly did not want to win against Arsenal and have City win the title.
It's the same situation with United playing Arsenal, so to say United play with spirit and Spurs do not and will therefore fold is straight up disrespectful.
Mark speaks like the Spurs players and manager have collectively decided to bottle the game and that's why City will have an easier game than what Arsenal had, as if United fans do not want Arsenal to win the title instead of City.
Both situations are exactly the same but Mark calls out ONLY one perspective and says it will be easier for City as the other team has something to gain from losing to their opponent.

There's only one club that has the finances to properly compete with City (Newcastle) and the Premier League decided to tie their hands with an avalanche of rules that City never had to deal with in the early days after their takeover. And anyone who now gets big investment (like if Qatar had bought MUFC) will be buried under the same red tape. Meanwhile City just carry on living off the platform they built while no-one was looking, safe in the knowledge that they are literally untouchable by the teams around them. What is a rivalry in football about? If you don't care if your rivals win a big trophy, even in exchange for lesser gain for your club, are you even rivals at that point? Focusing on yourself is great advice for life, but it doesn't apply to football. If you only focus on your results, are you really rivals with anyone? What is the Man Utd - Liverpool rivalry about if you'd hand them the league in exchange for a chance at CL qualification? I don't expect Ange or the players to throw the game but I will be hoping they lose.
Ruining your rivals day is an important part of supporting a football club. Look at Chelsea after the Battle of the Bridge, for example. Bitterness and pettiness are a part of football fandom, even if you consider it ugly. Reading the discourse around this conundrum these last few days, it seems there are quite a few fans who don't get this and think you should just hand the league to your biggest rivals. So be it, but for me rivalry is important in football.

Goldbridge deeply underestimates Villa injuries this season. We’d been getting knocks every game and the team has looked exhausted the last month or so. Still UCL footy next year either way!!

Guys, check out the Brownlow medal in Aussie rules football. It is a glitzy “best & fairest” player of the season award, live on TV each year a few days before the Grand Final. It’s been going since 1924 and is a vote by the umpires after each game. The votes are tallied live just how you described it. The Premier league could copy the format using, getting maybe a vote each from the Captain, Manager, Referee and public vote, each worth 1 point every game player. This would then account for injuries, disciplinary issues and consistency across a season.

Laughable how Saka isn’t even mentioned as a POTY candidate and Foden is touted as the second coming. They have the same number of goal contributions this year in the premier league.

Will sums it up perfectly when he says: the silent, sane majority of football fans aren't the ones who make the headlines because they aren't saying anything controversial (I'm paraphrasing). This is true in every aspect of life where opinion is a marketable commodity.

A good metaphor for Man City not being treated the same, it’s like growing up with brothers or friends and all of you like boxing, even if one of your friends is better you want to beat them, but then a new guy shows up, bigger and stronger than everyone and he’s on steroids, you don’t know them, no connection and you know you will lose so you just let it happen and move on. Ultimately I think that city jumped to the top so quick that no one respects them for doing it.

Selling our best two players just before the start of the season and shopping in the bargin bin apart from Hamer hasn't worked at all. should have been in for a chris wood not archer and should have gone for a Evans type at CB who has a wealth of prem experiance .
