    I was impressed with the quality when I received this product. Yes, on warm days your rain jacket will be as wet on the inside as the outside, unless you wear a long sleeve shirt or jacket underneath. I wear the suit over a jacket and sometimes chaps. I've ridden in hours of pretty good rain and only the tips of my pant legs and top of my shirt collar get a little damp.

      Hello DrFritz, I have switched to the replacement for this as of last season, and it is a bit more breathable. Not perfect, but close enough as I always have another layer under it. Thank you for stopping by and commenting! - Frank

    I commute 112 miles, one way, 4 times a week, in south Louisiana. I've been using these Nelson Riggs and they don't keep me completely dry. My legs below the knees get wet, but not soaked. My left shoulder gets wet, which means that the stitching on that shoulder leaks. If you are looking for something that keeps you completely dry, you're going to have to look elsewhere.

    Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking at rain gear but it’s always so hard to decide. Seems like every brand on the popular sites has either 5 star reviews or 1 star. Either people get completely soaked or it’s a nice dry ride. This particular brand and suit seems to be the better of them all.

    Good Review! I use Nelson Riggs panniers and a roll top bag for touring/camping. Been very happy and dry with them. I have been considering getting their rain gear since it comes in hi-Vis colors. I currently use the rain gear that came with my Olympia Jacket and pants, works good except it is black 🙄. I also enjoyed seeing familiar roads, The gray house on the right at 4:58 for many years belonged to a good friend of mine before he wandered off to New Mexico.

      Actually Olympia's rain gear works great, especially the Horizon jacket. I'm not sold on the pants, even at 6'2", they're way too long, so they need to be hemmed by a tailor, and there is no adjustment to tighten up the leg closures after putting on the rain pants.

    So I bought one of these Nelson Rigg rain suites on my way home from Alaska. The rain gear didn't make it home. So it didn't last a month. The pants Ripped out at the bottom, the pockets ripped out, the collar ripped. basically this is too light weight for any continued use. Also it has no liner, so it's just sticky plastic with no Vents. It's cheap, you get what you pay for and it's a waste of my money.

    I've got the Nelson Rigg rain gear, but the problem with the pants is the same with other mfrs., even HD, which is the butt / crotch soaking from the water that collects on the seat while riding. The jacket does a pretty good job at keeping the rain off me, but it is more "damp delay" versus waterproof.

    • @OneOldManRiding
      @OneOldManRiding  Před rokem +1

      Hello, the jacket is rock solid, the pants have started to leak a bit in heavy rain. I am thinking it's them wearing at the seat from sitting. Not much I can do about that as I sit in the rain ☔🤣. I consider the seat a wear item. I also move around on the seat a lot for comfort. - Frank

    I think that one of the best, if not the best, probably the best is the Scott Ergo Pro rain gear. So much so that in the UK there is a motorcycle store that stop carrying all other rain gear because they don't want to less subpart rain gear. The jacket is stretchable and breathable. Which helps with the getting too hot issue. It doesn't stop it, but it helps.

      Too bad not sold in the US. Have to find online and have it shipped to US. Been wanting one of the Scott rain jackets. I used a military Goretex parka which is breathable and has huge armpit vents that I leave open so I don't get clammy. Better than stewing in your own sweat from non-breathable rain gear.
