In today's video, Chase puts a full set of motorcycle rain gear on a 4-hour torture test to see if it can do it's literal ONLY JOB...keep him dry. As if the stakes aren't high enough he will be headed to a motorcycle press launch so if he get there wet it might be time to make some new wardrobe purchases! what about using regular latex or rubber gloves under your riding gloves or over the gloves
OC: I actually enjoy riding in the rain. My trick is that I don’t ride like an ass, and I have all the right gear, including waterproof gloves and boots. I’ve used Alpinestars rain gear for my first handful of years. Now I have a setup with built in waterproofing and it’s SOO much better. The biggest downfall I found was the bulk and restricted movement from another layer over my regular gear. The new setup though, better than I even expected it to fit and feel.
Dainese Tempest 3 jacket and pants, Dainese Nexus 2 WP boots, and Rev’It Summit 4 H2O gloves - best investment in gear I’ve made.
I have that REV'IT! one piece rain suit.. I like the one piece a lot more than any two piece suit because it keeps water pooling in your lap from being blown under the bottom of the jacket.
Kind of hard to beat a good Water Proof boot too.. I have a couple different pairs of TCX WP boots and they'll keep my feet dry if I walk out into a river with them..
I have had to do multi day all day rides in the rain/storms to get where I was supposed to be to make my trip planning work out. It's a joy and a curse of riding. You are in the weather sunny, or not. I like the take my riding boots and hit them with shoe polish right before a trip, basically waxing them so they are more water resistant. Water will always find the dry spots. It's just part of the game. Solid video.
OC: My first ride in the rain was unexpected. Spring evening stopped to pick up some parts and right as I was about to leave ... it started. I had a rainsuit that said it was rated to 50MPH from a big box sporting goods shop. Before I got to the highway I was soaked and only going 30. By the time I got home 40 minutes later I was a drowned rat. My jacket and pants have rain liners, but for anything more than a brief shower, I'm probably damp at least. My cold weather gloves are very water resistant, but if its above 65 degrees, they are insulated enough to make up for it in sweat. After seeing this, I'll be looking at Rev'It rain gear.
Extra ziplock bags are a life saver
Even on the rain I wish we had those rides here in NY. Great video. I have ridden 6hrs from Brooklyn, NY to New Holland PA in a constant down pour 10 ti 2 inches of rain per hour, it worked out for the most part but will never do it again.
My secret is dont ride in the rain lol
One piece rain over suit. I’ve tried many different options ranging from cheap to expensive goretex and these suits retail for about $100 AUD and keep you dry and warm. They suck in humidity because they don’t breathe great but will keep you dry for about a season or two before they spring leaks. Get a size big enough to fit all your layers underneath and make sure the pant legs go down to the ankles when in a riding position
One of my coworkers is in a tough spot with only 1 vehicle which is a motorcycle. He uses some other brand of those shoe covers and they work great for him! That’s a serious bummer that the pair you have didn’t work at all
Pro Tip: Most banks have a covered awning. Even if the lane is 'closed' they won't mind. You're using it for shelter.

I ride a 1987 Gold Wing mostly. Much dryer than an open bike. I wear mountain gaiters over my boots. These cover 3/4 of my boots. Everything but my toes. I like full side zip pants so I don't have to take my boots off in the rain.
I have that same jacket, are those the Nitric pants that match? I'm heading to Baja soon, but I'm leaving from the PNW so I'm glad to hear at least the jacket kept you dry!
Danner Acadia 8" Gore-tex boots. They are expensive.....$300+, but my feet have never been wet in them. And I have ridden about 15000 miles in the rain over the years.
You can spray your gloves with scotch guard. My secret is to ride nude and keep dry clothes and a towel in a dry bag.
You meant 'nude' as in, no gloves...right?😅
Rain gear that stores like a sleeping bag is only for emergencies.
OC: I've ridden through 50 minutes of rain on the ruckus. Radar got be bad because i was not supposed to rain for another 5 hours according to the weather app so i was not even remotely ready for the torrential downpour i experienced lol😅
Mechanic black gloves and your hands will always be dry, at the beginning it feels funny but then you get used to it. I have never been completely dry because the moisture of your body will not be able to escape.
I've tried this but I literally hate the feeling on my hands sweeting inside of those gloves. Id rather just have them wet from rain then that clamy feeling. If you don't mind it they are a solid move!

Ridden in Monsoon rains on numerous occasions. No good advice for feet or hands outside of waterproof boots/gloves and good luck, but keep any and all clothing tucked. If any textile in your kit is hanging out, it will wick water badly. Learned that one the hard way.
For the gloves I keep a pair of plastic food prep gloves around in case of emergencies. Never buy "all weather" assuming its water proof...my gloves and boots are resistant at best.
@@BummySheep I've started carrying a pair of Nitrile gloves. I've heard they help keep your hands warm under gloves as well but haven't tested that theory yet.

OC: Once on a road trip from Atlanta to New Orleans it rained the entire trip. We stop and get gas and under the canopy at the station the rain stops. We go to leave and the monsoon begins again. My pro tip Buy waterproof and make sure it's waterproof before heading out. Or pack alot of extra clothes 😂😂
