Please don't watch this and think this fool knows anything about Johnson City. This place is gorgeous especially in the fall. Everyone is kind. No we don't have beaches but we have great food and awesome entertainment. You don't need an 8 million dollar home...plus who wants to worry about Tornadoes or Hurricanes all the time..yeah I'm talking about you Alabama.

Your review on Johnson City, TN is so far off base that I picked up on how you were trying to dis the place within the first minute and a half. And I don't live in Tennessee, but I did at one time live in Johnson City. I don't like the city life and that is why I moved to the country in Kentucky. I'm not one to comment on much but I saw this on my front page of youtube. A couple things, one you started with the tree streets. Which is where I live no they are not the prettiest but this is technically a college town (East Tennessee State University and Milligan University about 30 minutes away). It seems like a ghost town because not many people work in the downtown area, you didn't even actually get into the city which is only a 5 minute drive. Johnson City is in the top 10 most populated cities in the state. If this happens to be a troll, then good job you got me. but if not, you're incredibly misjudging the city by only going a 3 mile radius. Happy Holidays though! Plus where you saw all the graffiti, the city is supposed be fixing most of it up in the next few years, which is why there was a lot of construction in the area you drove around.

I live in JC, and this is very negative about my home town. Do NOT like this guy's "take" on my area. He's coming north on 26 from Ashville to JC. Ole Guacamoles is one of the best restaurants in town! Great mexican food. The section they are driving is "tree streets" and that is older large homes made over into multiple units for college students and some older stately homes. One of the streets they are driving down holds our homeless shelters. We don't have any really bad areas. That's why I'm still here after 18 years.
I've chosen this area 4 times over moving someplace else in the years I've been here. Nothing happens around here. Great for raising a family, stable homelife, and reasonable prices.

Hold a minute, how can you go to a town you know nothing about and trash it, I really liked your videos in the beginning but as time has gone on you have nothing positive to say. First of all you are visiting older cities unlike the area you live in (tract housing), I know Florida pretty well and Florida doesn't have much to offer as architecture goes. No I am not from TN but enjoy the mountains and not the last 14 yrs of consistently visiting the different cities have we encountered bed bugs or filth, you get what you pay for. As far as southern charm goes you won't get it in Florida. I love Florida, have lived in many areas of Florida but the fact is it's a state with no history. Please don't stop trashing peoples hygiene, saying they don't care because i juts keep the rest to myself. I’ve never seen someone talk so bad about a city as they drive through less ideal parts, portraying it as a bad place. EVERY city and town has bad spots. Weird how that’s what you drove through first and automatically started with a bad attitude and formed your opinion, not even driving to great parts of the city. Johnson City was voted top place to move to. Your unpopular opinion sounds insane. Also calling it a ghost town? What? 😂 there’s tons of vehicles in every clip of the main city and people walking. As a Johnson City Resident, I wanna give major props to Southern Life for finding the worst parts of the city, I was surprised at these areas because I hadn't seen areas this bad. The neighborhoods are as such:
    Intro: Unicoi/Erwin
    3:03: South Side
    5:12: Tree Streets
    19:52: Mountain Home
25:14: Back to South Side lmao
It was really funny hearing you guys talk about the city, but I agree with Swittchy that this doesn't represent the city at all. You basically squared out all of the bad areas. The entire North Side (which is most of the city, it is skewed to the North), as well as behind ETSU is really nice. Southeast (Where you are) and dead west are your bad areas.

5:54 that would be a “street” where it’s less for cars and more for people.
A “road” is for moving long distances quickly in cars have nice wide lanes and rarely have sidewalks/areas for people.
A “stroad” is a abomination of the two that doesn’t do either.
The area of that town seems to fit the older design philosophy of cities and towns before WW2. Lots of LA looked like this before the end of WW2, and they destroyed many a black neighborhood to make the sea of concrete that has constant traffic jams.
