This video is the worst commentary I have ever seen and very deceptive. I live in Pensacola and before I retired, I was a manufacturer's rep traveling throughout south Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the coastal areas to Tampa. Yes, Mississippi has the least attractive beaches because they are manmade and not natural. Gulfport and Biloxi have some decent tourist places along with the casinos. NASA has a major facility near Gulfport along with Keesler Air Force Base. There are also large manufacturing corporations that have a presence near Gulfport too. Pascagoula has the very large Ingalls Shipbuilding that builds Arleigh Burke Destroyers for the US Navy. If Mississippi was so bad, why would these major companies locate here along with NASA. Next, you could not be more wrong about Mobile, Alabama in which is rich in good paying jobs. In the last several years, three large steel mills moved to Mobile to produce plate and flat products. One of these plants is owned by the largest steel company in the world. Airbus that is a competitor to Boeing has three plants in which one of those plants assembles airliners. The other two plants are support plants making parts to be sent to the assembly plant. Austral Shipbuilding located on the waterfront builds Littoral ships for the US Navy. Amazon has built and started a large operation in Mobile and also Walmart has opened a warehouse hub to do the same as Amazon. If Mobile was so terrible, why have all these companies located here. It is because the quality of life is good in Mobile which has a couple of large universities on the westside, fishing, and hunting, lots of museums, and too many other venues to mention for a city this size in which you did not mention any. The midtown neighborhoods have charming cottages along live oak streets with Spanish moss hanging over the streets. Seafood rules the restaurants in the Mobile area. The only negative thing is that it is hot in summer. Lastly, I am offended by the lies you bring up about racism in Mobile and Pensacola. As far as Pensacola being so far from the rest of Florida is a good thing because we don't want to be like the rest of Florida. Your drive up Pace Blvd and US 29 are not the nicest parts of town. Why did you not show out the charming downtown area that is alive and is perfectly safe to roam at night because of the crowds that enjoy Old Palafox Place and sit and enjoy the park at the end of Palafox to see our new 3 mile bridge that goes across Pensacola Bay and see our Naval Air Station that is the Headquarters for the Blue Angels. I see people swimming in the gulf waters in winter and I admit it is too cold for me but many take to the waters anyway. Winter requires windbreakers or a hoodie but no winter clothes are necessary. I like the way you cherry picked your trip to Destin in which was misleading because you drove through the best and most expensive real estate in the panhandle. If you go anywhere north of US 98, you will see slum area where these areas were moved away from the ritzy areas. Destin's premier tourist places struggle with employment because the city destroyed the working people to service these high-income real estate properties. I did not bother to see what you think of Panama City but it is a city that is about equal with Pensacola. I am very offended of your assessment of racism in our area. You are wrong and things are getting better every year. There are more problems up north and progress has been made here and I won't say what race I am because it is none of your business. Shame on you for misleading people!!!!

It’s not bizarre to me.. I find the place peaceful Many moons ago I read Zora Neal Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, no one wrote about the Everglades like Zora, no one! And the names of the towns, lakes, rivers.. phew. She wrote in dialect, she captured the way the folks talked. The opens with a scene after the great hurricane that dismantled southern Florida .. in 2021 I finally visited the Everglades and Big Cypress …. Visited Zora’s grave and left some momentous.. This video ranks amongst your very best Jose, it was a real pleasure to listen and watch. I can tell you did your research on this as it was full of interesting things I had no idea about. Being from the "armpit" of Florida, as the empty coast area is referred to, I am right there with you in saying it's still a very sleepy area. I am happy to see your take on Clearwater Beach, as to me it is hands down the best beach I have ever been to. I did spend a few days in Siesta Key some years ago but we had to evacuate that area as a hurricane was coming in. We lost the rest of our condo rental for the week as well, and didn't get a refund on it. We managed one day on the beach and perhaps because it was an overcast day, I wasn't that impressed with it. Even though I am gone from Florida since 2011 now, I still love the Tampa Bay area very much and have traveled a good bit in the other areas through the gulf states that you described. Excellent documentary I would love to see more like these from you!

I fail to understand the point of your drive down State Street. I mean IF it was as dangerous as you say, surely something would have happened to you two. You continue to highlight the highly dangerous city, yet you don't explain why, You don't explain how the corruption, and federal cuts have devastated this city. All you mention is "Oh! You create a negative narrative with talks of the cars not stopping at stop signs, a car with no headlights, a car speeding as if this is the ONLY TOWN THIS EXISTS. If you feel so emboldened to drive through late at night then really drive it, stop visiting businesses that are open, then try it during the day. Visit the schools, and businesses and talk with them. See the children, hear the challenges the teachers face, and with less than 27k, people living there, how it's next to impossible for the town to be what it once was. SMH!
