I grew up in Johnson City (1959-1979), as did my parents. What is now called Johnson City looks nothing like the vibrant and incredible downtown that was within walking distance of my home. In the 70s the “big fish in our small pond” wanted to push business from downtown to the north end of the town. They did and destroyed the city in the process. I wish I could show everyone just 1 day in 1964 and a stroll through downtown at Chrismas. It truly was magical.
We moved to JC last year from New England. Much happier here.
Enjoyable walk and great looking little town 🙂 I liked it , thank you for sharing 👍!!!
I have lived in JC almost a year now and I love it! Thanks for doing this video. I will send it to my family and friends who haven't visited yet!
I wish I had time for more - but perhaps another time!
Hi Krissy.
I plan to move to NE TN from FL in a year or so.
Is JC affordable? Not sure if you rent or bought but ae both options affordable there? Is it easy meeting new people?
@@gypsygirl9 Hello! I can only compare JC to Boston where I came from. It is extremely much more affordable. The people are so nice here. If you like to do outdoors type of activities or anything in the arts, you'll have no problem connecting with people. Good luck!
@@krissyworth508 thanks. I was birn in RI and always loved RI and Boston too!!! I just know the economy in those.places us always bad.
Super! Looking forward to walking with you more!
Hey great! Thanks for watching!
Missed it earlier but glad to see it! Buddy of mine used to live around the Tri-Cities. Nice to see it here!
Glad you enjoyed!!!
Nice and interesting walking tour, thanks friends for sharing 👍🤜🤛🙏🙏🙋
You’re welcome!!!
Hey wanderer don't forget the Famous walkways of Morristown Tenn. Pretty cool to see downtown like that
I will do it!
I am considering moving to Cherokee NC and loved the surrounding Tennessee towns. You give a great walk about. Thanks so much! Do you have other videos about Cherokee and the Mountain towns surrounding.
Is there a hospital? Medical services. Again thanks so much!
Not yet! But I have plans for a tour of the blue ridge parkway. I do have a good downtown Asheville walk and some Biltmore videos
The Blu Ridge Park way is amazing. I will check your Ashville video out. Frankly I am looking for small towns. I have lovely friends here, but I am so tired of being surround by big buildings. Same thing happened when I lived in the Bronx. Thanks again for your speedy response! From Francine AkA Mississippi Dreamer( my old trucking handle)
It’s hard to belive that so many live here, one get kind of small-town spirit here, charming😃very nice walk my friend, i enjoyed it! Thank’s! TC!👋
🚶🏻👌🏻
great.
I'm your fan.
Wasn't it nice to find you have a German Restaurant in your own city? I am sure this would have been a prettier walk in spring or summer. Thanks for the tour.
How are you?!friend,ejnoyed-gorgeous editing. all the best, =))
Looks like many of the buildings are boarded up and for lease. Is this an accurate assessment?
I would say that’s accurate here and in almost every small town in America unfortunately. That’s the impact of ‘big box’ retail and malls over the last 40 years.
Thanks for the video. I was looking at moving to Tennessee or NC. And had Johnson City on my list due to the cooler weather. However, after watching the video it seems like an older, somewhat run-down town. I didn't get a good vibe from it. So i will cross it off my list
Yeah cause it was made in the middle of the 1800s and it just started getting popular so it has not a lot of people
@GermaTroo I see. So are more people starting to move there then? If so, I would imagine in time it will start expanding and modernizing.
Loads of vacant shops as the downtown slowly dies, same problem in the UK
I’m optimistic that folks will continue to invest building things like micro breweries, condos, and art galleries
ITS NOT A SMALL TOWN LMAO If 70,000s people makes it a small town then its a cramped ass town lol
Thanks for watching. Everything is relative I guess. Smaller than NYC or Miami - larger than a lot of places.
Lived in Johnson City all my life never heard ETSU called EtsZoo it's E.T.S.U.
thanks for sharing that!
