Sets up gourmet kitchen, eats mountain house! 😂😂😂
always fun watching your videos. 👍
You're such a dork LOL I laughed so hard in this video thanks a lot for sharing you guys have been a major help but giving me alternate things to think about when it comes to building my rig these old videos come in handy very well
It's always interesting to see what others take out. Oh yes, move to the mountains. I am so blessed to have a quiet place surrounded by nature.
One of the most important think to do before you going off roading, is go through your rig make sure wheel bearing, belts, wheel cylinders, brakes, etc etc, the most Maintenence you do the less chance to break down.
I agree, adventure is necessary!!
I like when you said. Not to fancy an make it simple.
Another great video Sir
My favorite piece of kit is my coffee percolator. I like to have coffee in the morning so, this helps me start my day on the right foot.
Tom Clark I used to pack the Folgers coffee bags, just need a mug of hot water.
In 2013 i took off to hit some trails and camp out in cloudcroft NM. The truck i took was my 1980 4wd Toyota pickup single cab. Im 6ft tall by the way, I slept in the drivers seat the whole weekend. I look back at that and wonder how i got away with that. 🤔😬😨👀🙃🤣
I always have a police patrol organizer bag in the back, that has every basic way to make, have a drink or a dried food something, with one of those cheep square butane cookers, a fire box twig stove, if fire is permited, but it is pretty safe.
"It has alot of compartments and pockets, you can fit alot of stuff in and you would not even know its there" it's about15 inches square easy to move and fits pretty much anywhere. semi soft sides which is good.
Always with me.
I carry A battery pack from advanced auto. USB port, has A radio, can jump start my car. 12volt outlet.built in air compressor. I have severe sleep apnea and will run my c-pap for 8 hours on full charge. Also A 400 wat inverter. Just thought I would share I paid maybe 130$ for I would say six years ago. I have changed the battery one time still works great.
seems like a lot of stuff for 3 days :) i'm used to a backpack only. it's just recently that I got into overlanding to get out with my wife and baby. would be nice to see a video on how to secure all the stuff in the car/trunk. btw, you got some great videos.
Being used to minimal bikepacking gear, this seems like bringing your house.
Right?!
Re-watched this and came up with some suggestions:
A backpack small to medium to carry water (water bottles) sm. first-aid kit some snacks sun hat clothing sit pad and hiking boots or sneakers. (Because you're driving in flip flops.) All this in case you have to walk out for help.
What about a home made or bout water storage/ shower system. Just set it up on the roof rack with a pop up shower stall. Not needed but definitely nice
"The reason you need light, is because it gets DARK" - couldn't have set it better myself 👍
:D
You should seriously take a look at the new backpacking air mattresses. You can really dial in your level of support and, if you have any back issues at all, it's a huge difference.
We use the 'EXPED DUO 10' it measures 77.6" × 52" × 3.9", in a ground tent.
If I'm solo I use the 'EXPED MEGAMAT 10 LXW' it measures 77.6" × 30.3" × 3.9".
This foam filled air mattress, is expensive but absoutly AMAZING!
Great 👍
Love it. Started a blog about water systems for camping. So basic and yet so complex😂. Subd. D🤙🇺🇸😎
i needed this video last weekend!
And another great and fun video! Thanks!
Loved when you said “who cares!?!?” about what food to bring. It’s also funny when people think they need a $1,000 fridge for a 3 day overland adventure. Uh, get a cooler and some ice. You’ll be fine. A fridge is only necessary for multiple weeks away from any civilization, which is not common in the states. Trips are more fun when they are less complicated and require less planning.
I left a $40 Igloo cooler with a half-dead six pack on my west-facing back porch for 5 days after a 4th of July party and the water was still cold inside. People are spending way too much money for diminishing returns.
I like that philosophy; why spend $$$$$$$ on the latest gizmo laden cooler when you can pack a cooler, the way long distance outfitters who go on month long trips hunting/fishing via a boat, or by pack train? You're not going to have too much electrical equipment if the next war comes along and a massive EMP blast rendering all electornics nothing but melted/ useless wiring....
I carry a hand held ACR PLB (personal locator beacon), works off NOAA satellites, suppose to be accurate within 100 yards anywhere in the world.
Glad you do this for free and not have to join a group and pay.
you should check out kids foldable camp chairs moste are rated for heavier weight. i have a mary kate and ashley one and my friends laughed at me for the whole 10 mile hike but when i was sitting pretty literally around the campfire they all started asking me were i got it and how much it was i got the last laugh 😁😁
Bug repellent. Picaridin for skin, Permethrin for gear and clothing. We use Sawyer brand, works flawlessly for us, and my wife is typically a bug buffet. Also tick removal tool(s)
Tire repair kit. I keep one in every vehicle.
Yup! Me too. Good catch
Are those Wavian gas cans? How’d you score those? I wanted to get those, but can’t get them in California. Don’t meet CARB regulations, which is crazy as they seal far better than the ones that do meet CARB regs.
Great info.keep the videos coming. Old school cooler favorite kit.
Hey broski, you should look into a 10lb co2 tank setup for airing up. It's super fast and costs sub $200. Let me know if your interested, I'll send you some links.
I have considered that setup. Not a bad way to go.
“Just going camping by myself with over $200,000 worth of stuff.”
Hey man thanks for sharing. I'm going solo for a little more than 3 days. So my load out is some what larger. I ordered a deluxe Coleman cot with pad and this thing is ENORMOUS! Lol... it's just shy of a rooftop tent lol.. Who cares I'm still bringing it!.😎🤙🏼
All info derailed after seeing a painted toenail. Just kidding. I think weather and temperature should be a huge priority for those of us not in Southern Cali (thankfully) where huge swings are not uncommon.
"The reason you want lights is because it gets dark."
This is getting too advanced for me.
I'll survive if I have plenty of beer and a bag of chips
He's wearing a Dungeons & Dragons T-shirt... Super Nerd!! LOL!
nice video!
What do you do to entertain yourself when you go solo?
Anything I want! :D :D
@@OverlandBound but seriously... lol
Speaking for myself, my Kindle is my friend. Sitting by moving water, listening to the wind through pine and/or aspens, and waiting on critters to stroll by. And 4wd trails, definitely.
My number one piece of equipment that I can't leave home without...is my Inreach mini
the reason you want light lol so funny
Great video 👍
A fridge - beer gets hot fast in Australia!
a proper vehicle with fuel, water, food everything takes care of it self. Of course I like all the other luxury items. Days of packing everything on our back are over.
Do you carry a side arm...?
Yup
@@OverlandBound outstanding..
I really wish you guys would do a video showing how to properly setup your Ned kit. I bought two of them and would really like some insight into how you guys organize it
Check out the playlist called Overland Bound Bootcamp. You’ll find what you’re looking for as far as medkits.
We are going b to do this!
Covid kinda stopped that video but Michael and I are on it!! Hopefully soon!
There are a lot of different schools of thought on med kits. I am a nurse and only take minimal items. The most important thing is to get some first aid knowledge. It can be formal or informal training.
Lolololol haha your a mess! Great video as always
Alpackaraft. Never know when your gonna wanna go out on the wata.
How long did it take for you to build your base of gear?
Well I constantly iterate and have more gear in my garage that I dont use than I care to admit. What I have now for this vehicle has been a process since 2010
What is that roll up mat??? I can’t find it anywhere. I try to search mats, roll up mats, or portable mats and I keep getting yoga mats or sleeping mats! What is it called???? Where did you get it??
Sleeping matt is a Thermorest. Tool roll is adventure tool co. Floor matt is just a floor mat something like: www.homedepot.com/pep/interDesign-Formbu-34-in-x-21-in-Medium-Bath-Mat-in-Bamboo-81032/204156896?mtc=Shopping-BA-F_HDH-G-D59-59_13_TEXTILES-Multi-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-BATH+RUG+ROBES+SHOWER&cm_mmc=Shopping-BA-F_HDH-G-D59-59_13_TEXTILES-Multi-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-BATH+RUG+ROBES+SHOWER-71700000056526143-58700005281489771-92700051993985162&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0qTl9M-d6gIVRAnnCh2zuQPGEAQYDSABEgKDW_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds but not exactly
I never go out without bug spray / repellent... Nothing ruins my primitive camping experience like bugs eating me alive... Great video!
your taller then me i have an fj80 how do you sleep in the back of the 80 i dont get it lol
Tail gate down!
@@OverlandBound or... if possible take the 2nd row out or folded forward can accommodate someone 6'2" - a drawer system with 2nd row folded forward also works
Great video. One add: Maps
I was wondering how you deal with bears? Personally I have never had a problem but would hate for my 4runner to get a busted window. Do you keep dehydrated food In you rig? Would love some insight on that. I from outside Sacramento so I'm guessing we explore the same parts of the Sierra's.
lol, "... binoc lenses are like witchcraft..."
🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️1!
You forgot to say bring your dog.
flag = free lunch?
Haha, come on over!
@@OverlandBound do you carry enough hot dogs and tortillas for everyone? lol
I didn't see a fishing pole or tackle.
In the tail gate storage!
Da plane da plane lol
Jajajaja. Duro. Pa ese que no tiene vida.. jajajja el hater
Adult beverages
Don't use "off the reservation." It means a person who has gone outside racially prescribed lines of behavior.
Why do you bring so much stuff? Might as well just camp..oops, sorry, "overland " in your backyard. Leave the excess at home, truly travel light and get away from the conveniences. I walked 300 miles, camped every night, with a 24 lbs pack. Overlanding is excess.
You’re excused. This channel is for vehicle dependent travel for a wide range of durations, from 3 days to 3 months to living on the road full time. But thank you for watching!
Your videos are informative but I really don’t want to waste time listening to your poor jokes. Just keep you videos informative. I don’t come here for entertainment
