I live in conroe and we still don’t have light but we are using a portable generator and we have an ac unit in the window since yesterday and I wash clothes and hang them in the house to dry. Thanks to God for everything good.

I live in Houston. I was without power for 5 days, and am incredibly blessed to have gotten it back. But the suffering is extreme and I feel no joy. There are so many thousands of people in peril.
Glad you got power! I'm still hoping to get it restored today but I'm in the new, updated map that has put me in the "pending review" category. This is so frustrating. Not just this storm but the constant problem with infrastructure and lack of preparedness, as one of the wealthiest and largest cities in the world, as well as supposedly the energy capital of the world.
Blame Abbott and Cruz for intentionally leaving Texas in the dark !

Texas decided to remove themselves from the national electric grid. Florida doesn’t have this much of a problem, even with a Cat 3. My husband flew into Houston just before the hurricane and was shocked at how poorly prepared Texas was. Now he’s working catastrophe relief there amid flooding and power outages without the comforts of home, 12 hours/7 days, almost no cell service, and power outages. What a nightmare! Hugs and prayers to everyone!

@@mattv3668 The power grid has nothing to with the trees that fell on the power lines, the hundreds of poles knocked down, or transformers blown. Abbott has dropped the ball on so many things. Next time, people should vote in the Primaries to get another choice for governor.
Last week saw the first time EVER in south Texas when a hurricane was followed up by a nasty storm in the same path within less than a week or two.

I was there during Hurricane Harvey in 2017 . Just as bad, we lost the car and apartment . That was enough for me , left soon after.....stay safe and stay dry
