    If I had known Aikido 6 1/2 years ago I wouldn't be in a wheelchair now. As I get better and have my necessary surgeries to repair the damage he did .... as soon as my doctor says that I am able I'm headed for the closest Aikido Dojo and signing up to learn how to defend myself. I will NEVER let someone who is bigger and stronger psych me out and harm me again.
    Your videos are truly inspiring. Thank-you for letting me know that I CAN defend myself with proper training.
    💜 Searia

      Thank you for this very open comment Searia, Azu, Ondrej, Steve and myself all read it and we were all touched that our videos have reached you and given you a positive out look on what was a very traumatic experience, When you are ready to start training at an Aikido Dojo look for one that focuses on the real application of self defence, not all Aikido dojo's do, take some time to choose.
      The whole Aikidoflow team are sending you our positive thoughts in your recovery,
      and please drop us comments from time to time in the new videos and let us know how you are getting on. Jason.

      Aikidoflow Thank-you so very much for reading and responding to my comment. I first saw Aikido being used in a really bad "B" grade marshal arts movie. That's when I hit CZcams and found Aikido Flow. I would love to see more videos with women in defensive positions. I've started to meditate and I found a DVD on controlling your breathing. Both very good places to start I think. I was thinking of going to a gym and starting to use free weights (recommend by my physio therapist) to develop my upper body strength. I can at least start towards better health and strength now. I met with staff at the hospital that will be doing my first surgery in a year to a year and a half. They are even providing me with a dietician to improve on what I've been eating while I've been sitting on my ass which has unfortunately succumbed to horrible eating habits.
      You all have been noting but total inspiration for me and I love you all for it. 💜 Searia

      Learn a proper self defence system, which focuses 100% on self defence, not some martial art. Aikido is more about self developement, not self defence. There is way more practical stuff out there.

    You guys are amazing, i was studying wing Chun before but now i think you guys have inspired me to learn aikido. Currently, i can't afford to go to a dojo to be taught anything but i am now old enough to get a job and so when someone accepts me i am going to start looking for Aikido dojos in my area, but my only problem is, i don't know how to choose a dojo, could you guys please do a video explaining how to choose a dojo? That would be extremely helpful if you could, but otherwise thank you so much for everything you are doing here it is amazing, well done.

    Its fair to say most attackers aren't going to resort to grabbing you. The first thing they are going to do is either kick or throw a punch. Can you please cover what to do when someone larger than you comes at you at full speed throwing multiple punches and/or kicks. In addition with all the mma schools out there now, they may try to get you to the ground. That would be another great episode to produce.

      Marshall Lord I am not sure I agree with your first comment and I sense that with your last comment neither do you. It all depends on he situation and the context as to how they will approach you. You would be surprised how often the grab is the most likely attack.

    Can you show how you'd respond to someone trained in something like BJJ/ MMA trying to take you down or grapple. I studied aikido for many years and think it has a bit of a weakness here. Perhaps why it is rarely seen in MMA type competitions? Rik Ellis being an exception, but while I've seen a video of him explaining how to use aikido in MMA it is hardly recognisable as aikido. Thanks.

    • @MrMattias87
      @MrMattias87 Před 7 lety +2

      You shouldn't worry about that unless you're picking a fight with someone that is trained.
      Chances of that happening is high, But if you don't then the chances are low.
      I never had to use Aikido against someone that was trained because I don't pick fights. Instead I make friends with them and exchanged knowledge.

    • @paulhedges6131
      @paulhedges6131 Před 7 lety +1

      I fully agree with what you say MrMattias87, and certainly would far more readily walk away from a fight than pick one. However, I ask for two reasons. First, sometimes it may be necessary to defend someone else when you can't walk away - and this may include trained people. Second, there is at least a perception that aikido is not effective against MMA/ BJJ so I'd like to see how Aikidoflow suggests it can respond to this.

    • @TheMagicJester
      @TheMagicJester Před 5 lety +1

      It's not seen in mma as there are rules that prohibit many techniques but there are elements there and BJJ is not original and takes techniques from many forms and styles

      I've been doing aikido for about 7 months now and these are some of the simpler but still effective techniques. not to difficult but watch it a few times over to get it straight.

    • @SteveHughesMusicT-hex
      @SteveHughesMusicT-hex Před 7 lety +2

      Kwame Yeboah depends how you define easy I suppose but in my experience, most aikido or any martial art training can take time before you come to a place where you're happy with your techniques. hope that helps :-)
