- How to easily mix concrete with an electric mixer. Just follow my foolproof 1234 method and you’ll be able to do everything from strip foundations to concrete floor slabs, fence posts, garden steps and garden paths, and without worrying about getting the quantities or ratios wrong.
I’ll be posting links to the spreadsheets very shortly so watch this space.

thank you for this video. While you may have felt that this was too long, i have enjoyed watching every bit of it. No time was wasted, straight to the point, and packed with knowledge.
What would have been great as well is you could have shown how you clean the mixer afterwards and what about the safety aspects of it. Maybe tell people not to put a shovel in while it's mixing and wear a mask. If you are going to aim your videos at the novice then these are important aspects that should be covered. Having said that, thank you for taking the time to produce your videos.
Thanks. Yes to all of those, great points to note and often diy errors, I was worried that the film was getting too long, trying to get that balance between length and detail.
@@build-better-things Ha, I came to say almost exactly the same thing. Love the detail in your videos, that's often passed over in others. So, I was eager to see any tips on those pesky peripheral issues, as mentioned, like: how to get *all* the mixed concrete out of the mixer for each mix and cleaning when done (always a bit left in!) - I tip the mixer onto a spot tray instead of a barrow, so I can tip it almost vertical, and scrape inside barrel with a rubber kitchen spatula (more effective and quicker than one might think). But you do then have the extra step of shovelling the mix from the tray to where you want it. Also, what to do with the 'spoil' - the excess concrete you don't need, or even the dirty cementituous water from cleaning, when you're done, nobody ever mentions anything about that! Lol
Great vid as usual. And what a spot for the garden room, great overlook. You mentioned a while back that you were planning on doing a vid on the retaining wall/fence, is this something still planning? Keep trying to pause vids to see what you have done there, i.e size of planks, if it goes below ground level, if theres a moisture barrier/drainage?
Hi. Yes that’s coming. The things you mention are all included and explained. Thanks a lot for your comment
🎉
Here’s the vid I mentioned.

Quick question about the rating of the breaker - is it 32A? Thank you for your videos really helpful.
I believe that part needs clarifying, on consumers its 30 amps at the Ring (plug sockets) and a 30 milliamps for the RCD protection. also make sure the extension cords are fully unwound as it will increase the maximum load rating for the cable.
You're a clever man, no doubt about it and your videos are extremely detailed. For 'us' complete novices the 'art' of mixing concrete and mortar is exactly that, an 'art'. It's this basic skill that seems the most intimidating if you've never done it before. What I don't understand is you've made such a detailed explanation of mixing concrete and then you go and speed up the actual mixing of it which is really annoying. You've gone to all that trouble, couldn't you have shown us the mix in real time. I say this respectfully, it would have been so much better if you hadn't speeded up the actual mixing!
Thanks for the feedback. Im guilty of cramming the whole thing into a video I already thought was too long. That’s the reason for the speeded up clips. Maybe I should make some others focusing on specific parts.
To be fair, it is also possible to change the speed of playback on CZcams, on the settings of the video, to a slower speed.
