  • I never had a battery powered riding mower... let alone a zero turn mower, but every other outdoor power tool I own is battery powered, so I figured I would do a 100% battery powered OPE transition.

    I've had mine for about 3 weeks and driving this thing has a learning curve. One thing about it, after using that joystick for a couple of hours, your right arm is going to look like Popeye and feel like a teenage boy who just discovered adult content on the web.
    It takes me literally half the time to mow as my John Deere E130 and I use low speed, low blade speed. Also, like you said, the deck is super tough. I accidentally hit my brick steps and broke 2 bricks. The deck has a scratch.

      @jimmtech Před rokem

      @@bethelle9099 I first heard about this on March 8th - Home Depot decided to get rid of all riding mowers in-store, less than 80V, so there were a lot of Ryobi mowers including some zero-turns and also some Cub Cadets and John Deeres, but mostly Ryobi's. I was able to find one at a Home Depot for $500 - it was the 48V version that has nicad batteries(original retail was $3999, then sale priced at $2499). Virtually all of Home Depot's in-store stock was wiped out within 2 or 3 days - there were some stragglers that lasted for another couple weeks - these same mowers are still available online but at full price. ($2500-$8000). Home Depot wanted to make way for new mowers like 80V. For a while Facebook marketplace was flooded with these mowers. You still may find some good buys on Facebook marketplace because a lot of people bought several for resale but were not able to move them. At this point if you're shopping Home Depot in store you will be hard pressed to find a riding mower less than 80V or a riding mower that is nicad. Bargain hunters monitor deals by the minute, and if you don't act fast, deals disappear fast. Most deal hunters avidly follow: DT6, DOT, SD and BS.

    So as someone who started with with the first ztr mower the Dixon. The first joystick was snapper and has a joint behind the deck to float. It was neat as I grew up on video games till you tried a ditch or tank side. You vibrate and fight rear wheel speeds trying to not slip slide. Also if you have anywhere on your property, that mower you need height for the deck you can't float it. Because your drive hand also controls deck height. Now I mow my farm with gravely pro turn 200 60 inch and my normal home with a deere 900 series. I can float the deck with my foot. Also blade tip speed controls lift along with sails on the blades. So faster lifts more grass. If it shortens battery life and or weather makes you wait to cut the time you can cut and charge plays a factor. Also it's single shear on antiscalp wheels. I'd prefer double. My deere cost 8k out the door taxes etc. Bigger tires smoother ride less impact on soil. Plus a recharge aka refuel is a minute or two. But grass like that joy stick is fine.

Even on low speed for blades and speed, it won't cut 5 acres. More like 3. I am crossing my fingers that I don't have anymore battery issues. I am not the first to report this problem. just got one 2 weeks ago. got 42 inch . love it but I have to buy more batteries(came with 2 80 v and 2 12 ah batteries) to do my 1 and 3/4 acre at lowest speed and blade speed.. The second time I mowed I used my push mower to do edges, around trees and other obstacles. The more I have to maneuver drains the battery too much. Second time I almost made the whole yard. The cost was $3999($2000 off) and free bagger, plus I added extended warranty. home depot had that black friday deal. I am debating if I am going to buy the 30 inch ryobi push mower(if goes on sale i definitely will). It would give me an extra battery to use and make the precut go faster. right now using my ego push mower21 inch for the edges. Love ego products but the black friday price made my decision, previously had the ryobi 100 ah 38 inch (7 years) mower but instead of replacing the 4 batteries again and the deck, I bought this new one.

    I have sent emails to EGO and Ryobi asking them to sponcer me. I don’t expect any response but hey…. As a self employed lawn mowing contractor I am into the battery revolution and use a battery spin trimmer and push mower but like you, I need what my gas Toro zero turns can do and the cost to test out a homeowner quality zero turn is tooooo high.
    So, spending the $35,000 for a Toro Revolution E-mower is not happening, but I would test and promote the homeowner models that are at war in the suburb homeowner market. As a neighborhood business, my neighbors have hired me to work their properties for 30 years and as an old man now they know I’m going to tell them no BS. When Ford wins at the track, customers buy a Ford. When the lawn pros use Ryobi, that’s what the homeowner will buy.
