  • This is a tabletop review of the HK VP9. In this video we will discuss the history and development of the firearm, and provide side by side comparison with other popular models to establish scale and help visualize what it would be like carry this based on familiar platforms. We will outline all of the features, and how these features may or may not be important to you based on your personal needs. Range performance will also be discussed along with different tested methods of carry and how comfortable it is to carry on a regular basis. Last, we will provide an overall opinion of how this firearm stacks up for concealed carry purposes. Thanks for watching!

    I went to my local firearms store, having done a boatload of research, with the Sig P320 firmly on the mind but decided to handle a cross section of pistols ... nothing felt better than the P320 UNTIL I held the VP9 ... and it was like Harry Potter in Ollivander's Wand Shop when his wand chose him ... I would swear I both saw and felt the warm glow and the gentle breeze stirring my hair ... needless to say I didn't get the P320 ... I now have 4 VP9s and 2 VP9 SKs (my only other handgun is a 2nd gen Python) ... and I simply love all of them

      @@arielbenitez98 You cant go wrong with the P30L !
      I spent the coin an got a good IWB holster by ''LAS concealment'' which wasnt cheap at a bit over 100$ but you get what you pay for !
      Its tough to put into words just how good the ergo's/shootability/pointability/feel are [for me personaly] on the P30L but as somone who CC'd a Glock19 for years, Ill say that its my opinion that the P30L is FAR superior to the G19 in the afore mentioned catagories !
      Dont get me wrong I still love my G19 an I do still carry it from time to time but since I purchased the P30L it's won its spot as my primary /go to CC handgun !
      Again [for me personaly] the ergos etc are just fantastic and Im a better shooter/I get better results at the range with the P30L than with my G19 !

    I started out shooting 1911's. I quickly learned that I liked flipping the safety down to shoot. All of the 9mm back then had to flip the safety up to shoot. I did switch to HK P7M8 no safety. I really wanted 45 so I settled on an HK USP compact. This is still my favorite. I kept hearing so much about Glock that I bought a 21 and had the dealer install the 3.5 pound trigger bar. I might as well be throwing rocks. The HK magazine release also turned me against push buttons.

    I always go back to carrying my H&K VP9SK LE bc it's just a very nice feeling and firing weapon. Even with my other carry options of a Sig Sauer P365XL, Glock 19 gen 5, H&K P30SK V3 LE, and an Arex Rex Zero 1CP, I still come back to my H&K VP9SK LE time and time again. A very underrated pistol and I have the full size version as well along with the H&K P30L V1 LEM LE which the H&K VP9SK LE takes all the magazines. The 10rd, 13rd, 15rd and 20rd magazines which is nice. All those H&K pistols I mentioned just feel substantial and like quality. They were a really great deal at the $500 price point new until the Covid gun craze hit. I purchased all my H&K pistols for $600 or less new all with the tritium night sight options on them as well.

Out of 250 rounds i had 3 flyers that opened the group up to about 4 inches but the other 247 rounds were darn near hole through hole. I wish i could post the target picture. I do have an aftermarket trigger, springs and trijicon sights as well as a good bit of internal polishing which makes the trigger even smoother. Specifically polishing the sear catch made a wonderful difference in the trigger break.

    I completely am with ya about hammer-fired pistols. Besides the fact that I've found their triggers to be better outa the box, plus i just think the aesthetics of a pistol look off without seeing that hammer on the back, i know - lame, but that's just my opinion. I also took forever to get into strikerfired guns, not just HKs - but any of them, for a long time. It wasn't till my favorite company came out with one that i finally decided to give one a try, and that of course was the HK vp9. I have a USP45, USP expert match, and a P30L match, (with the latter being my favorite HK pistol ever made and imo one of the two or 3 best pistols on the planet), so i had some high expectations. Friends have had Glocks that i've fired and pretty hated whenever i did, so i was hoping worst case scenario that it would be a better shooter than the Glock out of the box. And yeah, i was blown away -no pun intended. I went and got a vp9 longslide a year later cuz i love the thing so much. Unfortunately once i started buying other strikers to give them a try after liking the vp9 so much, more times than not i was disappointed due to being so spoiled with having a gun of such quality being my first foray into the world of strikerfired handguns. That said, i have found a few that are great guns, and if it wasn't for the VP9 i never would have given them a chance. Great review man

      @kevinknapp9473 Před 2 lety +1

      Agree. I fired a lot of 9mm in my search for a first time purchase. The vp9 was hands down my favorite shooter and the grip was no comparison. I ended up being a Walther PDP compact but went to Walther because I disliked the paddle mag release on the HK and the internet told me the PPQ was similar. I had my mind made up on the Walther but almost changed my mind when I shot the Canik TPS9. Such a great feel and smoooooth shooter. But the grip on the Walther was second to none (plus I get sweaty hands) and I appreciate the aesthetics of the serrated slide. But if I had to trade, I wouldn't be sad. None of them were on my radar at first until I tried the VP9 at the range.

    Ok great video. I wanna trade in my FN 509 tactical full size in for the Hk Vp9 Tactical Or. Not saying the FN is a bad gun but the vp9 is the one I always wanted. I been carrying since July 30th last year and I carry Appendix. I never carried any other way or used any other kind of holster. I'm so used to it I forget its there. I'm Serious sometimes I have to pat my self to see if I'm carrying my Firearm. But I'm also 6 foot over 300lbs. I lost alot of weight in my past so I had Extra Skin taking off so I can't feel my lower stomach and it dosen't hang over. So I'm lucky there, So I'm happy I can carry it appendix and It's the full size one.

    I love my VP9! I would recommend changing the firing pin for the titanium one and change the plastic support sleeve with the aluminum one. Nice enhancements

    • @shinigami1925
      @shinigami1925 Před 2 lety +3

      @NewbieDad Correct. These “upgrades” do absolutely nothing that the factory parts can do- the plastic support sleeve is perfectly fine if you don’t try to use a pickaxe to strip the slide, and the Ti firing pin is both softer and weaker than the original. Definitely not a good idea.

    One CZcamsr with a gun channel claims he got a blister on his thumb from the take down lever getting too hot after putting a few magazines o through his VP9. So bad it was that he wore a glove on his left hand. Sounds like you didnt have that problem. Actually, he's the only one I've heard mention that happening. Is he the only one? :)

    • @TheConcealedCarryChannel
      @TheConcealedCarryChannel  Před 2 lety

      It's never happened to me, but I suppose it's possible. I would be interested in knowing how many rounds were shot in a row to generate that much heat.

    • @RodGreenshields
      @RodGreenshields Před 2 lety

      I think I saw that same video a couple days ago, too. He was shooting a massive volume of rounds outside, in the desert, during what he described as the “current heat wave destroying the west coast”. Clearly outlier conditions. I’ve owned my VP9 for nearly two years and have never experienced anything resembling that issue. Just the typical heat buildup you get with any gun.
      FWIW, I loooove my VP9 and VP9SK (superb for appendix carry with a 13 round mag and a 15 round mag in the sidecar). Tested about 20 before buying and these were the clear winners for me. For many people, the rave reviews of its ergonomics will be legit. CZ P-10 models were contenders, but the VP series was the clear winner.

      P30 being a tank is a topic for discussion. The P30 is the Norwegian police standard pistol and that includes the Norwegian equivalent of SWAT. They went back to Sig P320 since the P30 wasn’t reliable enough for their use.

      @@Birdfeeder795 - And many police here in the U.S. have switched from their Sig P320 to the P226 or Glocks after many of them had accidental discharges due to Sig's safety failures. I trust the H&K P30 over the Sig P320 any day.....at least the P30 won't fire accidentally.

      @@Birdfeeder795 P320’s break often and most gunsmiths will confirm that. They also have tons of lawsuits for the trigger going off without the user touching it. Never heard that issue with any HK. That said, when agency’s switch from one duty weapon to another, cost is often the main deciding factor and Sig offers the p320 for a super cheap price compared to Glock and HK etc.

    Personally I prefer hammer fired pistols as much as I love my glocks and my smith and Wesson M&M P. And My VP9, and I worry about the sig P320 series to be honest especially after what I heard happened today I did have have a sigp250 I sold for $850 on utahgunexhange, Wish I couldn't believe what's happening. And those I was able to get a brand new HKP30 long slid for $650! Just a few weeks ago in fact. I have 2P 2000HK's and said quite a few signs and Berettas which I think are all amazing and 1911s of course.
    While I plan to get a vp9 reg size for carry at some poinpoint.... I really struggle to think of a better pistol in the HKP30LS , because it is they perfect training plot for him for anyone who is new to firearms little alone Let alone The Perfect carry pistol for anyone experienced or not.

    N my local group including some pigs and Maya parking idiots dressing to play soldiers. Sensitive people lol. Every one but one guy with a revolver and a 1911 guy I outshot. A guy with the walther ppq did as well and the two vp9 guys did extrewwe!l but not as well as I did and I'm halfway blown who with one good eye. A purple people eater. Anyway....having borrowed a VP and having owned the sk of the p30 I just CAnt get enough it and outside of a very special 1911 . just see hearing my story sorry I'm using a new tablet the keyboard is a bitch
