    Funny their limited edition is still not that limited even after 3 years! 😂
    Let me thank you for the video btw Leigh!
    *Update:* I ordered one recently and returned that immediately, the next day. Crybaby is no longer as it used to be but total shit in quality. I found:
    - lightweight material for the body, cheap looking footplate
    - shitty pot with crackling noise right out of the box
    - ultra lose pivoting that a slight motion of foot moves the entire footplate and no way of tightening it.
    - they literally used plastic cable clamps for the pot contact and used mineral grease which is the no 1 enemy of any plastic or rubber item. Oh, even that was broken inside.
    - the DPDT press switch was loose to press too!
    JD really has quite an overconfidence or audacity to mark the price $219 for that!
    Got a Morley 20/20 Bad Horsie now for $180. Never to go for any JD (also MXR) products ever again.

      Are they still available? I haven't actually checked if they're still around. I'm guessing its surplus stock that hasn't been sold yet rather than the item being still in production. They told me they were only making a certain amount of them - I was given a number that I might have mentioned in the video (but as I shot this 3 years ago I don't remember...)

      @@LeighFugeGuitar Yes, I just ordered one, specially after seeing your video. I was in between CAE (Red/Yellow fasel) and this but not a fan of red fasel so went for this with Halo and Yellow. I vaguely remember the website had limited written somewhere but now even they removed that limited part along with guitar center, sweetwater, amazon and other websites. I think you said in the video 750 or something, it could be that amount in Europe only and not many ppl went for it or they continued producing this seeing the popularity.
      Honestly, my first choice was Joe Satriani's VOX Big Bad Wah but for some unknown reason it's no longer produced and not into wasting extra $100 on something where the alternative/better is available.

    As someone has always preferred darker wah wah's; i.e. Dunlop Hendrix and Cantrell, I'm gravitating towards the Halo with the frequency set between 0-50%. Or the Fasel with the frequency at 0. Great wah. But my Crybaby Cantrell has been serving my tonal desires since it's release.

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  Před 3 lety

      I prefer a slightly darker, throatier wah. I hate wahs that are just all top end and sound shrill and bright. I don't find them pleasing at all.
      The Cantrell wah is meant to be great. I haven't personally tried one but I've heard nothing but praise for it!

    This is my 2nd comment but I had to say it. I was already playing and MXR/Dunlop had only been around for 8 years. To this day and I'm now 55 I don't remember a single MXR/Dunlop limited edition that did not become part of the regular MXR line up. So when they say "O this is limited edition..." They mean "until we make more."

  • @mike1967sam

    Hey Leigh, I've had a lotta Wahs, I'm 55 so I've had a lot. Most were Dunlop. I settled on the Xotic XW-1 which has a slightly smaller footprint but the sound is perfect. I usually use a wah in almost half the songs in a 2 hour set but in most cases I don't rock the pedal, I simply step on it to achieve the timbre I'm looking for in the solo and hold it in that position. But a week ago I bought the Custom Badass Wah and it's great, a breath of fresh air. Cheers. Mike.

      Hey since you went for xh1 a year ago, does it still clicks when switching between wah/clean (like about a second gap)? I retuned mine several years ago because of that finding the huge waveform gap while switching during recording and thinking whether they fixed this issue or not. Although I believe that’s not a try bypass pedal as well. But I liked its tone tho!

    That pedal looks like the accelerator in a '67 T-Bird. Sounds like a dual inductor version of the Jerry Cantrell.

      Yeah it does have that old car vibe haha. It's the same footplate as the old UniVibe pedals apparently, which is pretty cool.

    Great demo. Cool wah. Do the frequency knobs act like the q knob on the 535q? Sounds like it’s more versatile on this puppy

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  Před 3 lety

      Hey Tom,
      Thanks for checking out the video. I think they do a similar job, but I think overall this wah is voiced slightly different to the 535Q. The knobs control the frequency when the pedal is fully forward, it does work like a Q control, it chooses which frequency gets pushed as the pedal is down.

    What do you feel about the build quality given that its lighter than the other Dunlop wahs?

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  Před 2 lety +1

      Good question! I actually feel it's still pretty robust. I'm not sure how they got the weight down.. I suspect just a lighter weight metal for the housing, but it still feels as robust as any other Dunlop wah. I wouldn't hesitate to take it out to gigs.

    Excellent review! Is it True Bypass?

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Sebastian,
      Thanks for checking out the review. I'm not sure to be honest. It's probably not true bypass, I believe most Crybaby pedals aren't true bypass except some of the Dunlop special ones. Not sure if this one is, but I'm probably guessing it isn't.
      Personally, I've never worried too much. If the pedal sounds good, roll with it.

      @@LeighFugeGuitar I got a mail from dunlop (23 june 2022) stating that the final quantity for this pedal has not yet been decided. To me this limited edition term is only for commercial purposes. The pedal is very nice, although mine needed a repair within less than 10 hours of use. Also, great demo in this video!
