  • Hey guys. So I made another video expanding on my first DAR tutorial video. I tried to explain things better and provide more context on how to apply the learning technique. I hope you find it helpful.
In this video I cover the wrong way to learn DAR, how to start learning it and how to continue to improve it after getting good at it. There are time stamps below. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback

I'm gonna be honest here, when I first watched this video I thought that this had to be a load of rubbish. It contradicts what pretty much every other air roll video says. But I've been trying everything and nothing is working, so I thought I'd try it anyway. At first it was painful. I was lucky to get through the second ring, but within 30 minutes its like my brain automatically knew certain ways to turn (Not everyway yet though). I thought it had to be a fluke at first, but I kept doing it. I think I finally found my way to learn air roll. Thanks a lot man, great video.

Id just like to add. Air roll left sticks should move in a counter clock wise pattern and the opposite for air roll right. I was struggling getting big adjustments down and it was because I was turning my sticks the wrong direction. If your rotate the sticks 360 you'll notice your car moves a lot more vs when you do it the wrong direction your car goes straight.

Thank you so much for this method of training! I think this is really much more effective than just doing micro adjustments from time to time.
I only just started doing this training, and I want to note there my progress. So I will edit that comment after next training sessions.
Hours are the summary of all sessions.
    1) 1:30 hours - I already have completed the first level and half of the second of the Neon Rings map.
    2) 4:20 hours - completed the second level and maybe 1/3 of third. And I can complete the first level in 3-4 minutes now
    3) 5:20 hours - after restart I did one more hour of training and didn't complete the second level, but I feel much more consistent in flying at left or right. I just don't understand how to fly up faster, and this is why I can't consistently complete the end part of the second level.
    4) 6:00 hours - after 40 min more I can complete 1st level within 1-2 minutes, and 2nd level within 3-5 minutes. Now I am stuck in a half of 3rd level. I really feel the progress
    5) 7:00 - after one more hour I finally completed the 3rd level! And I can complete the first two levels in about 10-15 attempts. That's really great
    6) 8:30 - I can complete first 5 levels continuously air rolling! But I didn't try to do that with fully boosting, I feathered it. Maybe later I will try to continuously boost, but at this stage I think it's more effective to feather it.
And I can complete first three levels in about 3 minutes! That's awesome
    7) 11:00 - So, now I'm fully boosting every time, and this is really much more effective than feathering. I already completed first four levels with continuous boost, and I feel way more comfortable with turning in every direction. I can even recover from many of weird situations. And I will continue to practice!
    8) 15:00 - I have completed the first five levels with const. boost! And I feel much more stability and control in my actions.
But I can't pass the next levels with the boost constantly pressed. Also on the Giant Rings map, even the first levels have very sharp turns, and with a constant boost it looks impossible to pass.
But so far I don't feel full control over the car yet, and I clearly haven't reached the ceiling of my passing capabilities with constantly boosting. Now I need to make my movements very smooth so that I can turn my car as I want and when I want.
So these five levels I will be constantly boosting, and the rest - as much as possible.
    9) 19:30 - the subsequent levels were a real torment for me in the first hours, but gradually it began to work out.
As a result, for a total of four hours of grinding, I passed 16 levels. The playing time of the last session was a little over two hours.
I hope next time I will spend much less time on this, because I have to go through everything again every time, and I don't really want to spend two hours each time. But I feel that I am gradually approaching the level that the author shows in the video.
    10) 32:10 - I spent 6 hours only on the last level, and I could not pass it. Firstly, I have a very low FPS on it because of the camera covering the entire map, and secondly, this movement - in fact, free fall, also with a 180-degree turn - has not been practiced anywhere before. Together, it became too difficult, and I decided that it was not worth spending even more time on it.
But! I feel very confident about my air roll. I can complete all the levels up to the last one within half an hour, and I don't experience any great difficulties on any of them. In principle, I can turn absolutely in any direction, and go through the entire map with the air roll constantly pressed.
But I haven't started using it with air dribble yet, as I have difficulties with air dribble itself. Accordingly, it is still difficult to understand how I manage to use air roll in the game - I already knew how to turn a little when flying. But, I think, the application is only a matter of time, and the mechanics itself is now at quite a good level with me.
At this point, I will finish training this mechanics for now. Many thanks for this really effective method, thanks to which I feel very comfortable using air roll.
    Upd: New start of training!
I finished my training of the left directional air roll for a few months for now, because I feel really good with it. And at the last sessions of training aerials and redirects I was able to apply my left air roll mechanics to score some really hard shots in very effective way. It's something that comes with time - I wasn't able to do it just after I finished to train in the workshop map. But I've been improving my car control for a while with some other training methods, and now I'm really enjoying of what I can do with my car.
So! Now I started to train the right air roll :)
    11) ~5:00: When I started to train the right air roll, I did not think that I will write reports about it. So I don't have the exact time, but I think it's about 5 hours.
It's going much easier that it was with the left air roll! Of course, there is some mess with my muscle memory of the mechanics with the left air roll, and many times I failed because I just was going in a wrong direction. But now I am able to understand the difference between inputs of left and right air rolling. Of course I continue to fail because of it, but now it's much less often.
Overall, it's much easier because I know how to turn my car with the left air roll, and it's basically just opposite with the right. So, I just need to add in my muscle memory the opposite of movements that I already know.
For now, I have completed the 2nd level a few times, and the 3rd for a half. I am going to continue my training sessions and do it more often, so wait for the updates :)
    12) 13:09 - So, what progress have I made in the last 8 hours? I almost finished the 17th level with the right directional air roll 🥳
And for today I feel really confident with it, so I'm going to finish the last 3 levels and be done with this training for now. I think I'm going to end at the 20th, the last level, because I haven't even completed it with the left directional air roll, so why would I try to do it with the right?
Basically, my computer is really weak, and my FPS on the last level starts to become really low, like 30-40, and when there starts a motion of the free falling, it becomes really weird and I can't do anything to recover properly.
But I think it's not necessary to complete this map to prove to myself that I'm good with the directional air rolling.

Wallahi I think you're right - the brute force method with constant boost is the key.
The problem with trying to learn while feathering boost is that the direction your car travels depends on where it's facing when you're hitting boost, and if you don't already have a good idea of how the car moves in each different orientation, you won't be able to get your feather timing right and your movements will be more random (which is exactly what happens when people try brute force + feather.) Well done!

Thanks for the great video, definitely earned my sub! There is one thing that I want to mention that other commenters might be struggling with is something that helped me notice improvement immediately. Focusing on the rings and only keeping your car in your peripheral vision will help not only with not overthinking your stick movement, but also translating the skill over to in game or other training packs. Im only about an hour in but that first hour was spent with my eyes locked on to my car. Shifting your focus to the rings in front of you will help to plan ahead for the next turn or elevation change, or in game situations to adjust for a read/bounce/etc.

Was learning directional air roll by only learning one input at a time from a youtuber called Grifflicious, he made some interesting points, but after practicing and making more research I came by this. I'm still not sure what method is best, but this one seems more logical, so I'm gonna give it a go. After practicing Grifflicious' method for around 7-9 hours, I could do around 3 neon height levels with no real consistencies. Might hate myself for torturing myself like this, but lets try. Will try to update my progression for those who are interested.

      @joncius1450 Před rokem +3

Update: about 6 hours of torture and I finally beat the level in the last hour a few times, I had to release boost at some times, but I think that still shows that the training is working. I didn't want to get on today, because it just felt like torture, but I did and I am glad I did. Ending the day on a W and going to be excited for next training sesh, which is going to be in like 3 days when I get home to my real set up after vacation. Props to Axiom :).
I would still say that I'm better at my old method since I am a lot more consistent on it. But I'm faster on this method. If I keep practicing I believe that, when I start grasping the mechanic for real, the progression is going to start growing exponentially.

Now, the concept of this video sounded absolutely stupid to me, but trying the different methods: Straight to Hoops with constant airroll feathering boost with the mindset of the different directions to push when the hood is facing me, trying to learn the different directions one at the time etc. for weeks (!). I've thought to myself: this sounds so stupid it could work... Fast forward to now, 8 hours after finding this video - 3 training session each beeing around 1h with 2h breaks between - I can actually control my car while constantly holding DAR & Boost - managed to go to Neon Rings Level 13. In 3 sessions. That's insane. My brain is doing something I don't understand, but my brain does - I didn't know I could do this.
Thank you so much for this video - and every one reading this, give it a try, even though it sounds super dumb.

1 day) Even after watching your video about air roll, I passed level 1 on neon rings in 30 minutes, and I passed the second level in 30 minutes too! Further - more! If I don't forget, I'll write)
2 day) hello everyone! the second day of training on this method has come! The 1st level was completed in 8 minutes, the second level in 4 and a half. in general, I feel the car better. in general, I tried to pass 3 lvl and decided that I would hone levels 1 and 2 for the time being in order to feel better on them. Now I have completed two levels in 8 minutes! I think I'm going to Lethamyr's Giant Rings now. And so I passed the first two levels in 7 minutes! Then I went back to the neon map and also passed the first 2 levels in 5 and a half minutes! Well... after 5 or 6 hours of training, I feel tired. I can't do the things I used to do. I think that's enough for today. See you all tomorrow:)
3 day) Аnd so, the third day has come! It's 3:15 pm and the training starts! In addition to the neon rings, I also sat in the freeplay and reduced the speed of the game in order to still figure out the turns in different positions of the car. Then I set the normal speed of the game and did circles on the map. Then I went to the neon map and passed the first two levels even faster, and then I also passed the 3rd level for the first time) Now I will try to pass the fourth! WOW! After passing level 3, I passed level 4 for 18 minutes! Level 5 passed in 8 minutes! Still, I can't pass level 6 yet. Therefore, I will fix 1-5 levels. And so, I went through more levels and it turned out that I also passed level 6, albeit with errors, but still passed. As a result, I completed 6 levels in 50 minutes.
I tried different combinations of turns with a stick. Some actions, indeed, are done as if automatically. I remember how I passed 2 levels in an hour and immediately think that I am progressing) I hope so! So the 3rd day of training has come to an end! What can I say... The day turned out to be productive, I began to feel the car better and completed more levels on the neon map in less time. Before going to bed, I decided to go to the "ALL KINDS OF SHOTS" map to practice hitting and try to fly with an air roll. I can say that it turned out pretty well in principle. To be honest, during the day, as I just started training on the map, I didn't do much and I lost a little self-confidence. But then I decided to just fly in a freeplay with a reduced speed of the game, as I wrote earlier, and look at the movements of the car. And after that, everything got better and I caught fire with the idea again. Don't give up friends (I hope I won't either), we will walk this path together! See you all tomorrow!
4 day) Hello everyone! The fourth day of training begins! The time is 12:00 pm and I'm starting! And so, the time is 21:18 pm and it's time to finish training. Naturally, I didn't train all the time, there were intervals when I rested, but I played for 5 hours. In the morning I started to train on high morals, but then, like yesterday, when I didn't really succeed, I drooped. And specifically drooped. But all sorts of videos on CZcams and in tiktok prompted me to go and train further. After that, I reached level 7 in 16 minutes. I also passed level 7 for the first time :) But I also passed level 8! And then I passed level 9 in 2 attempts :) Then I went through other custom maps and played a little casual, because I don't want to merge the title in competitive mode yet. After that, my morale increased again. You know, it's really hard when you think that nothing will work out for you, and because of this you load yourself. It's really hard to get out of this. I hope I will reach the final goal and learn air roll! See you all tomorrow!
5 day) Hello everyone! Another day of training. I recently came from college, so I start at five o'clock in the evening. The plan is about the same, go through rings and other custom maps, because if you go through rings all the time, you forget how to play on the ground, so I will also train strikes) Let's go! And so, the results of the day! I was able to get to level 15 in 45 minutes. Levels 10 to 14 passed for the first time! But still, in some moments I don't fully control the car, and sometimes I rely on the position of the car when its roof is turned on me, but with turns I seem to be fine. Another thought occurred to me, guys, don't be afraid to fall. Combine different actions of the stick, do not look at the time of passage at the beginning. Also, when you watch all sorts of videos on rocket league, try to analyze how a person turns his car, imagine in your head how you would turn the stick at that moment. It happens to me, I even automatically scroll through in my head how I would turn the stick. This also means that you are progressing! In principle, the day was calm, see you all tomorrow!
6 day) Hello everyone We continue to train! Today I'm flying in a freeplay in different positions of the car in order to better try to grasp the essence of how the car turns, I think it will be even easier because of this, because I still don't really understand how to constantly control the car during the flight. Let's go! In principle, the day passed quietly. Again, I went up to level 14, but in 20 minutes. I flew in a freeplay, all the time trying to adjust the car, there seems to be something. Before that, I flew in different positions of the car, maybe it helped. See you all tomorrow!
7 day) Good afternoon! Wow, it's already day 7. How quickly time flew by. It's one o'clock in the afternoon and it's time to start training! And so, the results of the day! In principle, the day passed quietly, I practiced and played competitive games. Reached level 17 in 27 minutes! There was also a feeling of control over the car, but not all the time twisting the stick, but it will come with time. And so continue to train and everything will work out! See you all tomorrow!
8 day) Hello everyone again! We continue to go to the goal! The next day of training is declared open! And so, the results of the day! I reached the last level on the neon map in half an hour, the last one did not overcome. It became clearer how to adjust the car when its back is to you and in other positions. Now it's a matter of practice and experience to learn how to adjust the positions of the car all the time and hit the ball in the game. In training with hitting the ball, everything is more or less. See you all tomorrow!
9 day) Hello everyone again! Today is January 27, the 9th day of training! In principle, I will do all the same, let's go! The time is 21:13 pm, which means it's time to finish! In principle, everything is more or less normal on the cards, but in competitive mode I still rarely hit the ball. Okay, we'll adjust soon :) See you all tomorrow!
10 day) Hello everyone! Today is a day off, so I will devote more time to the rocket league. Let's go! And so, I played rocket league all day, and you know, the feeling that I began to feel the car even better. In the game, I started hitting the ball even more and even scored. In general, I think that when you already have some idea about air roll and have already more or less figured it out, then you should already start playing either normal mode or competitive mode in order to adapt to the speed of the game and, perhaps, discover new techniques. That's it for today, see you all tomorrow!
11 day) Hello everyone! The 11th day of training has begun. Today I'm thinking of flying on other maps besides neon. Let's go! The end of the day has come. In principle, nothing unusual happened, except that the ball in flight began to hit less, but I think it's because I outplayed. Okay, we'll continue tomorrow. See you all tomorrow!
12 day) Hello everyone! Today I have some kind of drowsy state, but I still need to practice. So let's go! Another day has come to an end. I did the same thing, nothing unusual happened. I think I'll come back here when the progress is even better visible. So see you all for new updates:)
    ...................
Hello everyone It's been a while since I've been here. Where I would like to start... Definitely the control of the car has become better. Based on this, I tried to learn air dribbling, but so far I very, very rarely succeed, because I don't understand how to jump off the wall with the ball correctly, but it will come with time. Today, for the first time in a long time, I went to the neon map to warm up and went to level 20 in 14 minutes. I almost always control the car, often always keep a boost, I was even surprised that I passed the levels so quickly) And, by the way, yesterday I was promoted to the rank of champion 2 1 division:) This is my first time and I am very happy, but I understand that there is still a lot of work to be done, there are still a lot of mechanics worth learning!
Basically, that's it. If you really want to learn air roll, then please do not give up, if I have more or less learned air roll, then you should definitely succeed! See you all again!

Hey dude. I saw your original video a few months ago. Never even saw this one, and I to be honest, I dont plan to watch it because your original really laid the groundwork for me. I dont feel like I need tutorials anymore.
Just as an endorsement of this guys advice. Before I saw his video, I was like you, watching all the other videos telling me to learn directional air roll like a pattern, and I was getting nowhere really. After about 5 months of trying to learn this way I stumbled upon the orignal video. I took the advice to heart.
That was 7 months ago, but I was on console at the time, so spare a few random ocassions, I never got to try rings for more tham 15-20 minutes at a time maybe once a week. These sessions yeiled some very minor improvement, but even then I could tell that this was a more effective way to learn.
A little over a month ago I got a new pc. loaded up rings for the first time at home and dove in head first. After smashing my head into a brick wall for only a few hours the improvements began to be evident, and it snowballed from there. I think after a few weeks of really spending time practicing, maybe like an hour session at a time, I beat Neon Rings for the first time fully air rolling. It took me an hour and 15 minutes and I had around 250 deaths lol.
I just got off work, came home, booted up rings for a warmup before some games, and started vibing out. Frankly I just intended to do the first few levels and then do the rest of my warmup routine, but I decided to play all the way to the end to see how much I have improved. I beat it in 15:53 with 18 deaths. 4 of which were on the final level because I got excited that I was finishing so quickly. Halfway through my run I thought of this guys video and had to leave a comment.
I have been hitting shots that were impossible for me only a few weeks ago thanks to this new confidence in my arial car control, and I plan to continue to practice regularly. Thank you so much.

So I decided to try your method of learning DAR since I believe most tutorials are really bad at explaining how to learn it. In my opinion, I think your method is probably the best way to master DAR, but I feel like it's missing something crucial. I think jumping straight to rings maps is not the best way to start since I found out that when I screwed up, I never *really* had time to recover and re-adjust my car in the right direction because I would just die and restart the level. I believe you definitely should start practising airolling and boosting constantly but in a free space where you can fly around and give your car more room for freedom for mistakes.
For me, I like to use the training pack that makes me spawn outside the medieval rings map so I can practise there. After I started practising outside the map, I felt I really started improving since I had way more time to move my stick around and to change the directions how I wanted. Practising the rings maps was also frustrating and repetitive and found myself zoning out too.
I actually recommend first starting off that you shouldn't even go to the rings maps for the first 5-10 hours until you can move your car left and right *somewhat* consistently. In my opinion, rings maps is meant for moving your car in a specific direction accurately and freeplay is meant to understand the inputs that the car need to move in a certain direction.
Sorry for the ramble though, your method is still pretty good. I'm 12 hours in, and I already passed medieval rings level 2 for the first time which for me, I think is great.

ive been doing one hour a day of what the first axiom has described, which is continuously boosting while ALWAYS holding air roll left and using analog over and over and i can say for sure that ive been making progress.
day 1 - i couldnt finish level 1 - it felt like i would never ever get it.
day 2 - still couldnt finish level 1 - but i was starting to notice what some directions do depending on the way my car is facing.
day 3 - i finished level 1 finally - now it felt like i was back to 0% progress because when you reach a new level you have to learn a different path so it becomes difficult again.
day 4 - i consistently complete level 1 - starting to understand how to go down and to the right thanks to level 2.
*i'm going to make my updates less often otherwise itll take me forever to type it out when i could really be practing DAR.*
day 9 - i finally completed level 2! now level 3 seems insane. you have to go high up and to the right. my brain understands how to do it.
day 12: im still on level 3. but im understanding it a lot more now. i have way more muscle memory and i can recover much easier. ive started to use the forward analog more often now as before i was using back on the analog which would make it harder. also when i watch these videos they all seem to use forward left and right the most. i finally understand what they mean when they talk about rotating the analog. sometimes you can rotate the analog anticlockwise completely with good timing and keep yourself going. i havent fully grasped it but its super helpful sometimes.
day 15 - just passed level 3! i can pass level 1 usually first or second try now. and level 2 quite shortly after (sometimes) im definitely not consistent at all yet but the progress is 100% there

I think there's a simpler way to do brute force method to learn DAR. I have basically mastered it now but there were several hurdles I had to overcome to get to this point.
I started off not knowing what i was doing and failed for months and finally got back into it after i learned what the cardinal directions were. Like if you hold up down left and right your cars nose will always travel in a set direction relative to the cars perspective.
After that i learned to do basic adjustments with the hood of my car facing me, then with the back of the car facing me, then i learned to do the full 360.
There was a problem. I could fly around the ball in freeplay going counterclockwise just fine with air roll left but struggled to fly around clockwise.
After a year or 2, i made the realization that for air roll left you want to spin your stick counterclockwise, and for air roll right you want to spin the stick clockwise. This made it easier to do adjustments but i still struggled to fly around the ball in freeplay in both directions.
Then i started to experiment, and try to figure out why flying around the ball clockwise while using air roll left was so hard. I got into a zero gravity workshop map and just played around with moving my car with constant air roll left. I could make my cars nose travel in a 360 loop, and then it dawned on me. If i can move in 3d space in a 360 degree rotation around from a srarting point, then there's no reason i cant use counterclockwise spins on my analog stick to go in the opposite direction of that 360 rotation around.
Once i learned i could go in clockwise and counter clockwise directions using counterclockwise spins of my analog stick only, then i stated to truly understand how to use DAR.
So, for a simpler method of teaching DAR by brute force method i believe you should break it down into simpler steps. Have your students fly around the ball in freeplay either clockwise or counterclockwise, and spin the stick in the appropriate direction for the air roll they are using.
So for example for someone just starting to learn Air Roll Left have them fly around in freeplay going around the ball in counterclockwise direction first while spinning the stick counterclockwise only. Then they switch to flying around the ball clockwise spinning their stick counterclockwise only.

I saw a lot of videos on yt trying to find the best way to learn directional air roll and decided to give this a shot since it sounds better than the others, indeed. I've just started and got to confess that the consecutive failures really are frustrating, but I dont intend to give up easily. Just to confirm: When airolling, you really dont think about your next move? Also how do you think is the best way to start incrementing this skill in game? One last thing: it would be pretty cool if you did a serie in the channel like "road to master DAR" at which you periodically post videos relating the phases and progress in learning air roll right since you mastered the left alredy.
PS: Sorry about my english. I'm not a native speaker and still learning.

    • @TheFirstAxiom
      @TheFirstAxiom  Před rokem +3

'Just to confirm: When airolling, you really dont think about your next move?" do think about your next move while you move your stick. Try to anticipate the next stick movement that you need to make to get to where you want to be.
In terms of transferring the skill in game, it comes down to getting really comfortable with it first then practicing it in freeplay or custom training pack with the ball
I'm actually starting to practice air roll right for the fun of it using my method again and today I was able to beat level 1-2 in neon in under 2 minutes fully boosting after roughly 10 hours. i'll think about recording a series with air roll right

40 mins in i started to have a little car control, learned how to stop or reduce in almos every position, get fast is harder.
60 mins in could turn right consistently, and realize the importance of the velocity of the counterclock rotations in the joystick, it depends on situation but matching, is usually good.

Agree on everything you say, most tutorials don't emphasize nailing the muscle memory by doing constant adjustments + boosting and I think that the "wait for car to rotate to front then adjust" advice they give is terrible. I ended up doing a mixture of a few different videos training which I think helped me learn it pretty quickly(I can do most Leth's rings in ~15 mins with about 15-20 hours dedicated training)
    # This is all PC advice
    BEGINNER
Air roll feel practice - go into free play and then start air rolling while attempting to cancel out all movement by doing the opposite movement on your left stick to your air roll direction. Air roll left example: spin left stick in a circle to the right continuously while air rolling. Doing this correctly will have you flying in a straight line. Don't do this much, 1 minute a day to get a feel for how your car is moving before training.
Freestyler plugin(Bakkes mod PC ONLY) - Set air roll to left or right at 20% speed and do speed jump: rings 2 if using directional air roll feels completely uncontrollable. Try to bump the air roll speed up to 40% as quickly as possible then switch to pure directional air roll once you can use 40% comfortably. This should take 1-2 hours to get you into air rolling full speed.
    INTERMEDIATE
Speed training - Neon or medieval rings: focus on speed, boost and adjust as much as possible to force blackout moments and really train your muscle memory.
Accuracy training - Leth's giant or tiny(depending on your skill) rings map / speed jump: rings 3. Practice feathering and the large angle adjustments forced by the sharp turns and height changes. Do leth's if you have time, do rings 3 if you only have 10 minutes to dedicate.
    ADVANCED
Zero gravity rings maps - Do the speed or accuracy training from the intermediate section but while using zero gravity mode from bakkes mod. Under current game -> gravity -> zero.
SUPPLEMENTAL for general aerial car control
Speed jump: rings 2 or Speed jump: rings 3 - Do a rings map but focus on each direction your car could face in game. Example: do rings facing your car to the left, then right, then backwards, then forwards. Maintain your set direction the entire map by air rolling slightly to maintain it. I recommend short maps as any Leth's rings will take you an hour or more to do all four directions.

Been practicing airroll left for 2-3 days now and watched tons of videos, did practice for like 5-10h total and sorta had some stuff sorta not, i was practicing mostly in slow motion which made me do great stuff and learn some movement but i couldn't pull it off in regular speed except for like 10% of the time with just tiny adjustments. I have started this tutorial now after watching his last video and I'm focusing on just brute forcing it now. I will track my progress throughout my practice and update every few days and just stop if i don't see improvement after some time. I will update this comment - or reply - with the edit of how well I'm doing.
--EDIT: Playing on PC, playing with Keyboard and Mouse. Airroll left is on CTRL. Rank: Diamond 2/3.
Currently on lethamyr neon rings map just brute forcing trying to smash every key on my keyboard, can pass 3 rings, sometimes 4-5 if I'm lucky.I will do a little more practice for 15min until i have to sleep and try to reach up to 300 deaths minimum since i have no time today. FIrst update tomorrow probably --------- (currently 1/16/2023) no real muscle memory from brute force. (rank D2/D3)
-Aftermath: i reached 555 deaths and at about 270 i got to the last ring of lvl 1 but failed, however when nearing 500 deaths at about 430-500 i started to go through the 4th ring more frequently sometimes followed up with the 5th but failing to continue. Im going to sleep now so goodnight and ill keep going tomorrow.
--NEXT DAY EDIT: went in neon rings again, got 300 deaths felt like i couldn't do anything except the first 3 rings, then it snapped to me whenever i hold my S key i usually mess up when trying to go to the left and turn to 4th ring and so on, so what i did is stopped holding and tapping s except when i beat first 4 rings then at 320 deaths i started to see a bit more of a consistency for beating 4th ring then at 340-360 i beat 5th and 6th sometimes it became a bit more often that i am not stuck on the first 3 rings. Then at about 370-385 deaths i started to come near the end of the first level a few times but failed. However, JUST NOW, 412 Deaths in, i beat the first level completely, and it made me a little happy so I will now keep going and trying to beat the 2nd level etc. JUST TO ADD, I still sometimes fail at the start or 3rd or 4th rings, i am not clean at all.
Started the 2nd level at 412 deaths, seemed very impossible at the start, i was having trouble going down and then down to the right, D(right) and SD(down right) fixed my problem as i started to realise at about 600deaths. I did cheat at some times letting go of boost for balance or because i needed to fall down, or just holding airroll and not touching anything to adjust because no adjustment was needed at the near end just needed to fly up. I actually beat the level unexpectedly at death 625. It was sudden and just happened. Im going to try the 3rd level now but i plan to go ahead and start from the start of level 1 again. Improvements are happening... I think.. or I'm getting lucky at some points.. :D
700 deaths in now and I decided to restart from level 1. I beat level 1 in just 9 attempts. This is much better as i needed about 960 attempts before to beat it. I am still not clean at this and do fail often but it seems to be improving greatly without me realizing most of it. I will keep repeating level 1 and level 2 probably to get better and then move to other levels once i am comfortable. I will do some more practice then go have some fun and stop training for today probably. Time spent on this is like 2h total i think? I'm not sure but it can be counted as i used to average like 10 deaths/min
---------QUICK EDIT: After beating that 1st level again i decided to try to beat level 2 again. I DID IT!!! I came close to beating it about 3-5 times within 51deaths (counted from lvl1) and after the 51st death I beat the level :D. One thing i want to say. I CAN DEFINETLY SEE THE IMPROVEMENT. I feel like I have more control than before that's for sure. Keep in mind I did have a tiny bit of knowledge before starting this tutorial, i knew and tested out what ARL + SD or ARL + AS or + WA or + WD or + S or + W or + D or + A does. I knew sorta what they did and as i mentioned at the start of my comment, i did like 5-10h training with these movements and didn't work out, BUT I DID TRAIN!! I believe that training also gave me like a 10-20% boost, if not more, in this current training, because at some moments i used that knowledge and it helped me finish the levels.
---My current tip is: TRY DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS. in some situations i don't use a specific letter and it i finish my movement without it. like i combo with A AS SD D and don't use W or barely BARELY tap it sometimes. But at different times i use A AW W WD and it helps me when i don't use S. Also, there are points where i don't fully use boost because i feel like i am able to deal with the situation if i don't use boost, and it does help but i only do this because i believe i am able to correct myself and you shouldn't do it if u feel like you can't.
Finally, JUST KEEP TRYING EVERYTHING, SOMETHING WILL EVENTUALLY WORK OUT!
-----NEXT DAY EDIT: went into neon rigns as usual and first like 100 deaths i was very lost but within 150 i beat level 1 and 2, today's focus was mostly level one so i grinded it a lot until i reached 650 deaths, at around 550 deaths or so i managed to beat level 1 once per about 10 attempts which quickly lowered to once per about 5 attempts. At one point, some movements just snapped in my brain and everything became like 30-50% easier to do as i realised these things. Ill speak more on this topic when i have time but i gotta go now. Im getting better.
Next day(for 19th January): small practice today, neon rings + aerial rookie + pro training. I did okay not much to say, still mess up a lot but can sometimes get incredible goals.
I am still missing that one thing thats gonna make me 10x better for sure
Next day: did some practice nothing too much practiced hitting the ball while aerialing etc. not much stuff today.
I will continue my progress in the replies.

Hi, first of all thank you for this video, it helped me immensely.
I've been adopting this training system since the beginning of March.
I've never practiced training for more than half an hour a day and I've never done it continuously, there have been times when I haven't played for several days and even on the days when I played I didn't always dedicate that half It's training time, I used to play online matches.
Anyway so far, I can complete up to level 4 in about 5 minutes with very few deaths.
Level 5 is more complicated as my brain is now able to turn in more or less all directions, except left, as the first few levels of this map have virtually no moments where you are forced to make a fast left turn.
I recently made it to Champion and I have to say that in the air I have more flexible control and can move in any direction I want, except left when the car is in strange positions.
Hitting the ball on the other hand is a completely different matter, there are moments when I don't catch it and few when I succeed.
I don't have consistency in applying ball flying but in time I'd say I'll succeed, I see a lot of improvements despite having spent little time training.
Thanks again for this wonderful video.

@@maybe3432 Here man I just started the training two weeks ago(about 40-50hours spend on practice ARL). And I think I can share my thought with air roll left because I just hit my first aerial goal in D2 rank game. Not powerful and clean, but that is progress right there 100%.
first I suggest you watch tutorial by Lemniscate which share the same idea but with better explanation .
      czcams.com/video/OGqjLvBtSvk/video.htmlsi=8OSXD9C36FddfSsU
It is ture that if you put a huge amount of time in continuously spin you joystick, you can feel how the speed of spinning joystick impact the car in every orientation of the car.
For beginners, I found there are two type of spinning your joystick which you can feel the rhythm if you speed at the right speed.
      1.lemniscate twist
You won't be changing directions if you do it right.
      2. Tempo twist
This is a thing that doesn't have a name yet so I make it up. This twist is that you spin the joystick as the same tempo of your car rolling. When your car complete one spin, your joystick should also complete one spin at the same time. What tempo twist does is that your car will do a sort of spiral movement in the air. Un like lemniscate twist, tempo twist will continuously change direction where it feel like the nose of the car will stay stationary and the body of the car go 360 degrees.Tempo twist is harder to understand, but it help me start clicking a little bit.
I spend the first 30 hours doing Axiom method but I practiced spookluke method before, it make me always thinking about the roof of car and those adjustments. Those abjust are not wrong but it shouldn't be simplify like that. It do more harm than good for beginners like me. After that 30hours, I saw a viewer @juta6500 comments this tempo spinning thing. It help me let go of think roof, bottom of car quickly.
One last thing, I suggest you drop the aerial sensitivity to 1.It affects your roll speed. You can spin the stick slower compare to 1.7which I use before.
      Hope this helps !

ran out of space so im grouping days more effectively:
days 1 & 2 : pre-click, a lot of questions, couldnt really do anything. to be fair day 2 felt much more fluid including some good moments although i couldnt yet control my movements.
day 3: click. so for anyone interested in how long it took to be able to move in rings maps with this method, the click took 6-7h for me. but i also grinded some the basic adjustments in 4 directions before trying out this method.
days 4-12: gradual improvements so far, almost every day feels better than the previous one. i grouped so many days together because essentially the process has been the same and there hasnt been any huge revelation as day 3 was, but movement has obviously gotten much more finetuned. sometimes im quite comfortable but compared to axiom my aerial car control is still shaky, and i cant do much in real gameplay, although i did feel improvements there too.
im close to 30h in as of day 12.
days 13-15: everything axiom said up until this amount of time committed has come true. with around 30h invested i became good enough to finally complete neon rings in under 12 mins (specifically 11:30 mins), a goal he sets in the comments. honestly the map feels really easy, obviously if i try to fully boost on high levels its not easy to always get it first try. i feel far more comfortable, and my movements are far more finetuned. on day 14, i also completed giant ice rings for the first time. i set my goal higher as a result: tiny rings. with every run im getting farther on tiny rings but its difficult, got to level 7 so far. on day 15, i hopped into real training like air dribbles, and the difference is night and day to day 12. for the first time, this skill actually feels within touching distance. consistency will take time, but if i can do it even once ingame, the sky's the limit. actually, i hit my first carry ingame with continuous air roll. i carried the ball all the way into the backboard though, we scored eventually but not directly. feel really proud and far more comfortable - still need dozens of hours for my movements to be as finetuned as axiom though. when i think about his PB as well, 10:29 on neon rings compared to my 11:30 is actually a huge difference in speed. bottom line is: finally completing ice rings and practicing with tiny rings imo has been a gamechanger, propelling me to a level of finetuned microadjustments closer to what I need to do air dribbles.

So, I've spent around 4-5 hours on random drills, trying pillar maps, out-of-the-map routes, goal to goal in free play, etc. I've found out that somehow I manage to fly from goal to goal somewhat consistently while always moving the joystick, but I don't know why it worked and it's hard for me to understand my progress, as it still feels random to me.
I do have some questions to help me proceed on the right path:
      1. Is it okay to let go of the joystick from time to time? I've found out that sometimes my brain decides to leave the joystick for a half or full circle and then I am able to recover, or when I simply want to go exactly in the direction my car is pointing at.
      2. Is there any drill to estimate progress, in your opinion? I'm trying goal to goal which is great, and there is no doubt there is progress, but I've made no progress at all with doing even a simple half round of the pillar map, for example (for both sides), and haven't succeeded even once. So I wonder if there's any good drill that I should focus on.
      3. I've found out that I'm doing much fewer adjustments than what you show in the video. Does that make sense? I'm afraid I'll get used to "bad" muscle memory.

I also want to mention, there might be 2 reasons why you're stuck. Number 1: you simply need to continue improving your directional air roll while aerialing, so do more rings until you get REALLY good at them. 2: You didn't practice enough with the ball in custom training packs and/or freeplay or combinations of 1 and 2. Once you get pretty good at doing rings, you still need to spend a bit of time in custom training packs trying to hit the ball to get used to moving towards the ball.

cause that's the truth but the video also tells you HOW to practice not "just practice". Everything in this game needs practice, no shortcuts

I can do this map constant air roll with boost feathering... I'm trying with full boost and... wtf lv 1, 207 deaths (´。_。`)

That happened to me when I first started out. I'm 30 hours in and can almost do the first 4 to 5 levels of neon and medieval rings fully boosted while constantly moving my stick. It's so brutal in the beginning feel like you're doing the wrong thing because you're not. A tip I can give you is focus on the nose of your car and the path ahead of you.
There's another CZcamsr that explains it as a "feedback loop" like trying to balance a long stick on the palm of your hand.

I air roll left so when I first started something that helped me was tornado spinning with my joystick to the right or to the top right and I still do. From there you make small adjustments either up or down sometimes left. It's hard to tell you what I'm doing because my brain just knows what to do but one thing I can say is early I focused on tornado spinning like 80% of the time and making Minor adjustments from there just watching the nose of my car. It's a feel thing, like a feed back loop.
Another CZcamsr named Lemniscate explains it czcams.com/video/OGqjLvBtSvk/video.html
