bro as an editor i am so impressed how much work these editors are puttin in
Shoutout to all the editors 🙌🏻. You guys do a really great job.
I imagined spooks editor making an alt YT acc just to make this comment and give himself a shoutout
Literally the only thing i could concentrate on 🤣 I came here to get out of Diamonds and here i am going "How the hell did they do that?" watching all the animations and subtle background blurring 🤌🤌🤌
Bro must have a squad of ace editors.
Presets save lives👏🏼
Like this video concept, I would make a part two but instead of it being F-S tier, I would make one where it’s Bronze to GC or something. Ranking the mechanics would be when you should learn them, giving players at certain ranks a good idea of what they should be working on, and what they should already have mastered.
this^
ngl i thought it was gonna be like that because of the tittle
@@Gutimine2004 same here I thought that’s what the title meant
Yeah I was hoping for this. I want to know what mechanics I should be good at, I'm in platinum but I go can't keep the rank I always go back down to gold :(
Get good at speed flips…. That’s literally for every rank
Spook : "that's all the mechanics u need to learn to get better"
Me : "great"
Dribbling : "I'm bout to end this man's whole career"
I dont hate you im gonna be happy with any help i can get
Trust me brother practice this stuff. It helped me immensely. You don't really have to be insanely mechanical to get to gc
@@tysonjewell4673 you do have to be mechanically consistent though i have gc friends and their lobbies are insane they dont mess up flip resets mustys nothing they hit and do it consistently
What rank are you?
Same
Same
Guys don't learn speed flips till ur higher than champ. I learnt them and i always did the kickoff so early that the ball always went to my net. The opponents always have a slow kickoff and they aren't even consistent. U can still learn them but if you see that ur opponents kickoff is bad just do a simply kickoff, now im GC and i think im right
If you know you are going to beat them to the ball you should just hit the ball around them no?
if the ball went into your net maybe its bc u were doing it wrong! i learned speedflips in diamond and id always beat people and get a couple free goals cuz of it
Ya speed flips above fast aerials and shooting is horrible advice. Speed flips get you to the ball less than 0.1 seconds faster at most. Speed flip kickoffs are super easy to beat as well. If you want to get better, I'd recommend other mechanics over speed flipping
im c1 and most people i play dont speedflip, and if they do its not normally very fast
Speedflips for moving around the field are cool, but as you said, not necessarily in first touches. I have the same problem you have mentioned about
I must add - Make sure on controller you dont have major stick drift going on! It can really hinder learning complex skills
I do have major stick drift but only on my camera stick is that bad too?
Whats that
Your videos are so chill and calm and greatly edited great job luke I love your content!
I think bounce dribbles and double jumps in general, not even just pops, are the two biggest things that have enhanced my game. Effectively double jumping I feel has provided me with the ability to ad depth to shots and give chances to incorporate air dribbles or fakes
I would say directional air roll is S-tier. The amount of improvement I got from watching your videos on it was incredible.
Especially with how helpful it is for recovering from bumps and such
I've started putting time into DAR dispite not playing long and only being plat 2, I wanna get good at this game and eventually I'm gonna need DAR, on top of that I see it like an instrument, I've seen some absolute dumbasses shred on the guitar, not because they're particularly gifted or anything, but because they've taken the time and put the practice in so now they do it without thinking
My theory being even if I'm not currently imploying it in games spending some time learning DAR now means once I need it I'll already have it
just learning directional air roll made all my aerial mechanics 10x better and more consistent, its a necesity
Fast aerials are s tier as well. Using them with tornado roll is my bread and butter
Air roll is good but not s tier rated
Always appreciate the advice. You can never go wrong listening to someone that is above you in rank even if you are champ. Coming from GC a champ to them is like a gold to you
Lotta hot takes in this one, most of which I agree with. But I have to say, ceiling shots, in the low ranks, are incredibly overpowered. At least for me, learning them (not mastering of course, i pretty much just started learning them) didn’t take as long as e.g. air roll or speed flips, but when i hit one in game, even if it isn’t a clean one, the opponents are rarely able to save them.
As he said lil bro
What rank r u
@@ajairose6268 High Diamond. Ik I'm in no position to give Rocket League advice, I was just giving my experience as a Diamond player
ceiling shots are not important im gc1 and people almost never go for those.
@@daone_vac1002 You're probably right but Luke mentioned all the mechanics on his list in the context of them being useful to "the average player". I think that excludes GCs as you guy are pretty high up the ranked ladder
I think that air roll should be higher since it significantly improves air control once mastered, air roll enables more maneuvering while airborne and overall looks sexy.
Oi did you learn air roll? I'm in the learning process right now and am getting the hang of left air roll in ring maps but idk how to implement the stuff I learned in game. Any Tips?
Hi, i'm diam2 in europe and for me this is the perfect explanation of how you should learn mechanics with priority..
The only thing i'm struggling to learn are the powerslide cuts..
Anyway awsome video!!
I think I just diss agree with double taps because double tap/backboard reads are pretty common. But what do I know I’m just c2
i find it interesting you're take on wave dashes, because from the start i was the opposite for people, i really only used them for getting off the wall, and even now thats pretty much the only time i use them. i fail so much trying to use them just on the ground
I’ve been needing this video
Gotta love a high quality video
Keep it up Luke
@@rushinrounds4702 it's a bot😂
@@fiyibomiolabode i know but luke should see it
This helps immensely, thank you
I would actually put wall dashes and zap dashes in c or low b tier just because zap dashes are very useful after kickoff similar to wave dash kickoffs. I’ve found out that wall dashing in the corner is way easier than doing it on a flat wall, so it could easily be used to recover from your opponents corner or to push up from your corner to make a play while being boost efficient.
I LOVED THIS. Thanks bro
As a gc this video and a bunch others have been incredibly helpful!
interestingly, I got caught up practicing re-directs because I thought that was just the next thing to practice when I was working on aerials.
Was this video in time to help you or did you move on from redirects before the vid?
Honestly if you yourself felt it was the most obvious thing to move on to.. it probably was.
there's so many mechanics, that theyre so situational, that they have their own situations in freeplay and in game, like flip resets, no matter how good you get in freeplay, youll need experience to do them in game
Super helpful thanks Luke
This game is great!
Directional air roll was one of the hardest things to pick up for me because I went a couple years with regular air roll only.
same it created bad habits
how do we do directional air rolls with xbox controller and is there a way to increase the spin speed
Fast Aerials are my most consistent and best mechanic, and I believe its the biggest reason I'm in GC, too put it simple, I just mostly beat opponents to the ball, but I'm also pretty good at Halfflips, backboard play, and decent at air dribbles/ground dribbles.
i think its a good list. gonna practise a bunch of these and hopefully hit champ soon
Me, a GC2 who still has the shooting consistency of a diamond, seeing you put it in A tier
I kinda think curve dashes belong in mid-high C tier because me, in champ, I use them a lot and when you get consistent with them, they can be very useful in some no boost situations when you and your opponent are on the wall
Dope, thanks for the tips
Bro thanks so much hopped into musty's training pack right after and this fixed it instantly!! the part about canceling the same direction did it for me
I'm in gc but a singular wavedash or front flip on the kick off can be helpful because your going straight down the middle and they are going to the side so 8t could end well for you
half flip is definitely A/S tier for sure. They can easily win you a game or lose you a game. lol
Love the RoadHog. Fits the Octane frame amazingly.
What a time to be alive, thanks 🙏
We love you spook ❤
The problem with flip resets is that most of the time you see that people want to set them up and can prevent it from happening.. Totally agree with you.. They are useless especially in 2v2 and 3v3.
Bro! I have been using these mechs that you preach since before I knew you. You are speaking FACTS. We could play so well together!
Bro Your Edits on EVERY SINGLE Video are Super Nice And high quality!!!
I would challenge that, while it isn’t a mechanic per-say, learning how to make controlling touches should be strongly considered for your next list.
Honestly, it is a mechanic just often overlooked. I was gonna say for average ranks just hitting the ball when and in the direction you want is huge
training redirects is great to learn aerial control or practice it, kind of like warming up for a bball game with free throws but you made a good point here
Bro this editor is insane wow
Thanks man it really help no joke i promise
Love the content fam
I liked all of them thanks👍
I'm D3 and idk why but being lumped in the same tier with plats has me dead 🤣☠️
i love your videos they teach me lots of mechanical shots even though i am a gold 1 I can speed flip
I disagree with ignoring ceiling shots and double taps, if you get good at these it completely opens up your playing field and you can put your opponents in vulnerable situations simply because they’re hard to predict
Agreed
Ceiling shots r ass
ceiling shots are not important im gc1 and people almost never go for those. double taps and double tap attemps happen allot.
@@daone_vac1002 im gc1 aswell and i think ceiling shots might be the most useless and dumbest looking mech in the game but i go for quite a bit of double taps just cause i can hit them cause ive trained them alot
Yeah but if your in plat bounce dribbling or something is enough, you don't need to be freestyles on them.
I did not actually think it would make me better thanks man I love you not hate you❤❤❤
For me you are the best Coach on YT
Luke has the best rocket league intro!
I think it us a good list thats really going to help
Luke i completely agree with you on the defensive side. My diamond friends can't even powershot or backwards save. I tell them to practice it but they don't listen
High rank redirects are more about “can I beat my opponent to the ball and throw him out of position to score” so for me I practice timing those
You remind me of Michael Keaton, that’s a good thing lmao
Very good advice! I’ve been diamond three for few months so I’ll definitely try to practice some of these!
Luke I’m below gc and directional air roll is easier than free air roll for me dw 💀
is that good or not
Love your vids
i remember picking directional air roll in gold back in the day and it felt broken because of how much better it made me at shooting
It is so easy to follow your gameplay. No wonder you're top tier educator.
For me I learn dumb mechanics just to have fun. I know how to do a really dumb wave dash that doesn’t even help you recover it just makes you look cool
The editing is insane
nice list
luke: i havent scored on a double tap
editor: shows clip of luke scoring a double tap
Ground plays are so underrated but I think double taps are actually pretty useful because not a lot of people below champ have good backboard defence
meh they are okay he placed them in the right category
Great editing
Hater gonna hate bro, thanks for all your time and advice, us average players really appreciate it 💯👍🏻
What plug in were u using for the backboard defense
@spook
Would it be useful to make a tier list like this every ~6 months? To see how the game is evolving? I imagine lower ranks won’t change much and that’s probably who your fan base is mostly consistent of. Most of us watch bc it’s interesting to see the game changing.
What’s a lower rank? I see good rocket league players make stupid mistakes every day. A lot of his advice stretches through most ranks because most people don’t think enough when playing.
@@jarviselmerhath7769 bronze-diamond is considered a low rank
@@SirbigaballsI’d say bronze-gold are low ranks
Plat and diamond are mid ranks
And champ+ are the high ranks
@@oZqdiac I mean some people see plat as a downgrade from gold cause its known as the 'toxic' rank, diamonds I guess could be considered mid rank depending on who u ask
I actually have the opposite opinion on speed flips in diamond and champ on kickoffs. I usually get excited when my opponent does it cause I just end up jumping before they hit it and the ball ends up shooting to their corner giving me a free look after kick offs.
Ever single vid he makes is amazing I was c1 last season and now am gc1 of js doing everything he said
for bounce dribbles u can get more accurate and power when hitting it when its falling from a bounce rather than hitting it after a bounce
Shout out to ur editors! And shout out to you!!! Ur videos are much appreciated. Hold my beer as I miss this flip reset.🎉🎉🎉
imo ceiling shots and flip resets are good and something lower ranks should try but no focus on. One thing I will say tho is that I don't like these by themselves. I mostly do flip resets and ceiling shots combined with air dribbles. But this requires someone with good car control and someone like that below gc is hard to find, not impossible but hard to find
I would say below c2 they r hard to find. Just now reached gc for the first time but imo it feels the same as c2
do you use directional or stick air roll for half and speed flips?
listening to this while im playing 1s while u were talking abt flip resets being bad i just got scored on by one😂
good list
I'm regretfully that guy. I find redirects really useful for training but not necessarily for the goal of doing a redirect in game. I've managed a couple nice ones but what it really does for me is help me get better with is defense and general field awareness. Also helps with my general shot accuracy
Love the concept and the video but correct me. if i'm wrong double jump pop can be A tier and air dribble B tier if you gonna need air dribble most of the time you go for a double jump pop ?
One thing that came to my mind after watching this video is how this might change across gametypes. My guess would be you've crafted this "tierlist" based around 3s gameplay yeah? Which makes sense, it's literally called "Standard" and it's what e-sport level play is on.
I play more 2s with my buddy and solo queue 3s since we don't have a third. Which means I play more 2s. In my experience flicks are definitely A tier. If you're putting "Bounce Dribble" in S tier then flicks are the runner-up for a fairly similar groundplay mechanic. In 2s having good flicks can just outright score goals very easily. It instantly punishes any overcommit by the enemy team. It is at least a guaranteed win over the first challenger - and if you have good flick skills you can put it backboard to force the 2nd player out of net, or can pass it sideways for teammate to pick up or even shoot it.
But in 3s? Yeah i can see it not being as good, it's still nice to have and belongs in B tier there. You can still get guaranteed past one player with it - but in 3s there's still both a challenger and a goalie remaining. So your flick will be challenged right away and probably won't force anyone out.
Anyways just my thoughts on the matter, still really useful and interesting takes here and I appreciate the video, just wondering what kind of perspective you're coming at this from and if you think it might apply differently to different game modes!
but overall great vid Luke!!!
One first mechanic i lern was speedflips and it carried me to plat tre.
I completely agree even though I'm diamond and I'm working on mechanics like air dribbles and stuff(because i think it looks cool)
Yoo ty for the vídeo Luke.. peace guys
Nice video, i'm agree with you exept for shooting, i'll put them S++ ! You can reach champ with only good shots
And then no higher. Also technically that’s not true. U have to learn how to defend too
Thanks
When should I go for double taps and air dribbles in 2s games
the intro is cold
Would love a little talk about each mechanic and how and when to use it, was hard for me to understand the mechanic and when to use it:) maybe I got the video wrong!
Backboard defense is godlike, there's a lot of time that I clear a ball in front of the net at casuals.
I made a smurf account and speedflipping on plats and diamonds is so satisfying bc i beat them to the ball and I just hit it around them 😂
Yo Luke im at your discord and not finding that video you talk about at the end here.
What a nice guy
flip resets after reaching c2 to c3 was a leading factor to why I got to gc1 in the first place
For those confused: the lower the tier of a mechanic, the less useful it will be in early ranks like Bronze and Gold
"ThIs sUcKs" (i love you man)
How woild u suggest i learn airdribbles?
Could you make a video on how to use directional air roll, it would really help my out so I know how to use it and how to practice it. Thanks!
It’s something u have to bind. When using it u use your left stick to control where you go and how your car moves. Practice in freeplay by going in a circle around the field without hitting the wall
My two cents: for 3v3 only - D3/C1 OR if you have a squad you play with and you don't solo queue - redirects are A/B minimum. The higher up past C1 the better, but once you can actually trust your team mates, it's a core mechanic. Ive seen so many non flashy squads clap mechanical squads at D3/C1 and above (C3 now), it's sick. But you have to be able to trust your team mates.... Which... Eh? LOL. If I recall, that's one of the things rapid told spook on their last coaching session too 😉 correct me if I'm wrong
Completely agree. Redirects are what make or break teams ESPECIALLY in 3s diamond or higher
Also I'm in awe that he put speed flips over fast aerials. Just had to throw that out there
@@mdrieber it's a bot
@Mitchell Rieber I think spookluke is probably going to take in a consideration that the average person viewing this video is solo-queuing main and between plat-champ hence why he said you can't rely on redirects as often as a squad. Also beware of bots in youtube comment sections.
@@mdrieber Be careful with comments like the one you responded to. That‘s a bot and this giveaway doesn’t exist.
He means practising like in training packs.
