- A Green party politician in Dresden has been attacked just days after another candidate was assaulted and hospitalized by a group of youths. It comes as the interior minister hosted an emergency summit to discuss how to prevent political violence amid rising threats against politicians.The latest incident happened while Deutsche Welle was filming with the politician in the eastern German city.

The very confrontation, shouting at and following them around was assault. Tearing down the sign was vandalism. Actually spitting on people is battery, which is worse than assault.

I've been noticing this same sentiment as well.

Well, they basically think that the Greens are responsible for their miserable lifes. I'd say it's a conflict between authoritarian and liberal views. The Greens stand for liberal migration politics, equal rights for all no matter what ethnical background, gender, sexual identity, etc., taking care of the environment (with real actions, i. e. reducing car lanes in favor of bicycle lanes) ... That's all what right wing people hate.

The question is not what X party has been doing to have people react like this, but what has been promoting people into engaging in such aggressive behaviour. Those are very different questions.

I highly doubt the Green Party being in favor of sending weapons to Ukraine brings people to violence. What other policies are they pushing that is negatively affecting people to act like this? Humans are simple beings, this can be broken down to a basic psychological level. The fact that the video even states that this particular party is a major target, indicates they have been pushing something(s) that are extremely unpopular, hence the original question.

This is not good :( ... There has to be exemplary punishment for such cases so it doesn't repeat and people should be afraid to behave like this. They seem to be also immigrants.. I am not this type of person to say this and generalize something (I know what it means to be immigrant too.) But they should be glad they are there. Period, no hard feelings. .. There hasn't been a serious wave of far left extremist attacks in Germany since the 80s. They happen, but they are rare. Right wing extremism on the other hand is on the rise. It's not a comparable situation. Right Wing extremism is the current problem.
