I suspect the "1000" at the end, is because 3D printer's base unit is millimeters, while Blender's base unit is meters.

Most probably because I have my blender setup in milliliters since I only use it for 3d printing and i don't have to change the scale while exporting.

Thank you for this video and for sculpting ones ! As suggestion, could you make one about how to split a model and add joints for 3d printing ?

Grant, not sure if you know the name Verlinden by chance, but he gave me a personal tour of his facility before closing shop and retiring. World renown for his models. He'd be super excited to see something like this. Immediately thought of him as you show off your finished product there. Amazing.

It doesn't look like you need as much supports as you used. On an FDM printer, the layers build up, so anything like the fur you pointed out would print well.
The body should print with no supports needed. The tail might have issues in the beginning, but looks good without supports. The ears would probably need supports, since they are practically parallel to the ground. It all depends on your printer, though. I have ran an overhang test on my Ender 3 and got decent results from 50 degree and less. It's fun to think about modeling with 3D printing in mind. Any slope that is 45 degrees is my friend.
I have been really enjoying this series, since it's been easy to follow along.
    Thanks!!!

In the add-on section there is a 3d printing add-on. If you click it you'll have a "3d print" tab next to your properties window. In there you can check your angles, check for non uniformity, make your object manifold, and much more. It's quite helpful because with one click it will tell you what's wrong and with one more click will fix it.
Also, I would recommend switching to PrusaSlicer even if you don't have a Prusa printer. IMO Cura is literally the worst slicer out there, and the quality of prints it produces is very low compared. It seems trivial but when it comes to generating the gcode, setting up your settings, your supports, etc... Prusa has a much better and easier interface. I can guarantee if you try Prusa once, even as a beginner, you'll notice the difference in print quality. Plus your print times will always be estimated spot on.
Side Note: A lot of people will likely get mad at me for putting Cura down and freak out, so for any trolls... Truth is truth and I'm entitled to my opinion just as (you) are yours. So please try to remember that before you bash/troll me for not agreeing with your opinion. And also remember when I don't troll (you) back for not agreeing with (you). Then understand what makes us different. Not judging the community here, just pointing something out.

About overhang areas (or ones located at the angle), you show the result of using supports on 4:33, but did you specifically model them? Or was that done with a slicer?
Thank you very much for tutorials in general and this serie in particular btw, very nice material and explanation.

@@grabbitt that makes sense, thanks again. One small nuance also - the printed sculpt color is looking very nice. Is it made by you manually after printing or is that color of material? If that is covered in the next video I'll wait for it

Why didn't you use the 3D printing addon which comes out of the box with blender? With this it is really eays to find nonmanifold areas + export to .stl!
