  • I broke a bolt off in my 1997 k1500 distributor. To replace it was over 130. Didnt really want to do that so i decided to figure something out. I drilled out the broken bolt, mixed up some JB Weld and covered the old hole and surround area. Let it sit overnight. The next day i tried fitting the cap on with the screws, it worked well.

maybe use a 1.25" long #6 screw with a washer and a nut. washer goes under the distributor

I have the same problem on a 97 Chevy express 1500 van , the screw hole is cracked and the distributor cap moves around and that makes the check engine light to come on and also it makes the van get bad gas mileage,

it's a good repair trick and will save a lot of money, but it would have been nice if you had said what drill bit and the tap size you used. thanks
