    At 3:19 he says "only rechak, purak, kumbhak.. this is best pranayam!" Rechaka is exhalation, puraka is inhalation, kumbhaka is breath retention, either out or in. The way/order he describes it, one would assume he's talking about Anuloma Viloma, and technically this is the only "pranayama" in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the others being considered "Shat Kriyas". It's also the only pranayama I could imagine someone doing for 3 hours at a time!

      +Clark K I tried once meditation where I tried not to think and I entered something it was so different but I never could repeat this meditation. It lasted only for sec because I immediately started to think: what is this???.. So I ruined meditation. I want to do it again. And I also had OOBE but I didn't know what was it. I think the way is through surrender. Light be with u my friend.

      As I have learned, this is a misinterpretation and I also thought it for a long time. Meditation is not to think Nothing or clear your mind completely. It's more about focusing on one thing and not let your mind wander off! When you concentrate on your breath, you may also count with your thoughts - the important thing is to stay focused on the present moment and not to think of the past or the future.

    A couple of corrections/additions to the subtitles, for the sake of clarity:
    - Ida is the moon system (left nostril, parasympathetic nervous system); Pingala is the sun system (right nostril, sympathetic nervous system). Sushumna is the central channel.
    - Rechaka is exhalation; Puraka is inhalation; Kumbhaka is breath retention (antar kumbhaka is holding breath in; bahir kumbhaka is holding breath out; sahaj and kevala kumbhaka are retention of breath without considering if the breath is in or out).
    Note: there can be slight dialect variations with some of the Hindi/Sanskrit terms.

    Steps
    1) Close both nostrils
    2) Open only left nostril and inhale -2 Counts
    3) Close left nostril and hold the breath - 4 counts (Both nostrils r closed)
    4) Open only right nostril and exale - 1 count
    5) Close right nostril and hold - 4 counts (Remember both nostrils are closed now)
    Continue steps from 2 to 5 again in same order for further rounds.
    Pl note initially u might feel loss of breath or suffocation, but with practice it gets corrected.

    If you loop the part where he mentions 'the best pranayam" (he leaves off the 'a') you will get loosely "Rachuk Puru Akumbak" or Rechacka Puraka Kumbhaka :
    "The building blocks of pranayama are inhalation (puraka), exhalation (rechaka), retention after inhalation (antara kumbhaka) and retention after exhalation (bahya kumbhaka). For the microcosm that is our body, puraka is the generative force, kumbhaka the sustaining force, and rechaka the destructive force that removes toxic substances."

      There is enough technical knowledge on pranayam given by swami ramdev in his videos.

    • @garichar
      @garichar Před 3 lety +3

      Lucky Singh it’s not dangerous per se. Just like anything in life, take it slowly and ease into the discipline while continuing to educate yourself on the subject. Consult a guru if possible. Would you start bodybuilding by walking into a gymnasium and racking up 400 pounds of weight and begin to bench press it? Or is it better to start light and read up in the subject, and possibly consult a trainer? The same goes for any yogic discipline. Too much too soon can overwhelm the brain. Slow and steady wins the race!

      shankar ashok what according to you is purpose of pranayam ?

    • @prt-ql1cv
      @prt-ql1cv Před 6 lety +8

      shankar ashok Sir प्राण +यम is pranayam
      Where prana (प्राण) is force according to physics
      This is the same force/pran which is used by Honorable Nicola Tesla for his inversions and yam (यम) means controlling that pran/force
      When you practice pranayam PROPERLY body starts purifying and the effect of this purification is the fragrance
      Since the body of common human being is impure that's why we have to use deos or sprays
      And and and this is just one outcome of pranayam among its thousand outcomes

    • @prt-ql1cv
      @prt-ql1cv Před 6 lety +3

      shankar ashok before starting pranayam one must do nadi shuddhi

      shankar ashok I believe everything on basis of proofs
      Tere is nothing if you don't believe it or not.....

      @prt-ql1cv Před 6 lety +9

    Only rechaka (exhalation), puraka (inhalation), kumbhaka (retention full and empty lungs) is the best pranayama....Here is the testimony of a Frenchman translated in english by me about square breathing: " I meditate on the breathing (especially on the moment between inspiration and expiration), little by little I no longer feel my body, I feel good along the spine, I have tingling on my body, my eyelids are shaking, I'm in a kind of trance, I feel myself rise (I lose the notion of "space" such as my office) and I stop voluntarily because the feelings are too strong and I have the feeling of controlling nothing."
