    If you're not pink , yellow or quite neutral, chances are you might be olive undertone. I have been getting a few requests to share my thoughts on what looks good on olive skin tones. Since this topic has not been explored much, hopefully the information I share based on my personal experience from being Olive will help shed some light.

    My safe colours are basically earthy toned colors, that's never failed on me. I thought that I am super yellow since I have super strong yellowish undertones but oranges makes me more...yellow lol. I can work with muted oranges or dull oranges.
    For green it's actually nightmare for me because I look really off mostly blue based green like turquoise, it makes me sickly and ashy. But again, muted or dull green looks purrrfect.
    For blue, royal blue is okay but somehow makes me look yellow but still can pull it off.
    Earthy colors, muted rich colors, muted rosey pink is my safe choice.

    thank you dear ..i have been struggling for many years as i always felt most the colors look off on me especially that i am muslim and wear hejab so the color of the head scarf really affected how i look ..some looks wonderfull while others look awfull and i never understood why until recently one cousin told me i am olive skin tone and suddenly i looked in the mirror VOILA i can see it ,i am olive indeed . it was so relieving to understand the reason why many many colors looked off on me
    to sum all the colors that compliment my warm olive skin tone :
    off whites are nice . white look bad
    all saturated beige ,hot choclate drink color , laté , camel and ecru colors
    all nude beigy pinks are nice
    red must be saturated and definitely not orangy
    very deep greens are okay like the top in your video
    pastels are no no but i use them in skirts and pants
    and actually neon colors except blue are very flattering in bikinis + all colors above

    some shades of gray look nice too

    Hmmm the shades I like are olive and military green, turquoise, burgundy, browns, gold. Basically earthy warm colours. I think the reason you like darker green isn't due to the olive skin but more to do with you having high contrast hair v skin, requiring as much depth of colour.

  • @dysdaffy6905
    @dysdaffy6905 Před měsícem +1

    I guess the bright colors wash you out because you are a warm olive - as you informed us in the beginning of the video -.
    In my opinion of a cold olive medium skin tone person, i look worst with all oranges, peaches and corals, light brownish shades, yellow and rosey beiges, pastel rose, lavender, all military green shades.
    My best ones are medium dark shades of berry, grey, brown, blue, green, red and purple/berry, plum, petrol, black and white.
    The point is the answer to the following question:
    What does "looking good" means? Apart from personal opinions, the answer is not unilateral.
    First of all it depends on the temperature of your complexion.
    In fact olive skin tones are very different one to the other, not only by the depth of the complexion but from the temperatures.
    I am not an expert myself 😅 but i asked two color analysts before and they both considered my skin tone as neutral-cool.
    What does it mean? As to begin we should understand that olive is a mix of maily two colors: green and yellow with a little bit of pink.
    If your complexion contains more yellow hue than probably you have one of the many olive warm skin tones; if in your complexion is more visible the green and greysh hue than you probably have a moderate cool olive tone.
    In the first case you would look great and healthy in peaches and coral both as regards of make up and wear since those colors are accentuating the yellowish hue of your complexion visibly putting aside the greenish overtone; on the other hand if you are an neutral-cool olive person peaches and yellows may make you look like a Simpson 😂😂 Instead greys, dark and desautorated magentas, plum, cool medium and dark reds, petrol shades make your face look less yellow, brighter, lighter ❤
    Ps: i am a deep winter and i need some saturation in colors

    @Poeticdyme Před 4 lety +7

    I appreciate your effort but I think you need to do more research on undertones. Maybe watch some of Merriam Style's videos, she really breaks it all the way down. Icy and hot pinks and any blues are never going to be best on olive tones because they are cool colors. Neither will pure white for the same reason (off white, ivory, beige are better for us as they are warm toned). And I disagree about the dull green and "dull yellow" looking bad on you, I actually think they really brightened your face and made you glow... As Merriam explains in her videos, in those colors, you stand out and it looks like you are wearing the clothes as opposed to the clothes wearing you. So I thought they looked good. If it's just a personal preference that you don't like how those colors look, that's a different story. And any pink that looks good is probably because it has a bit of a salmon or peach undertone.
    Also, what you can wear may not be the same as a darker olive tone, I think darker, more tanned olive tones can definitely pull off brighter colors. They don't look as good on someone your shade, which is also my shade, because you look like you have warm and delicate tones, as opposed to warm and radiant. Some olive tones lean more towards cool though, and their color set will be different. But, if coral or peach looks great on you, then you're leaning towards warm (I'm the same). Check out Merriam's videos for explanation there, not trying to sound like an ad but she really breaks it all the way down better than anyone else I've seen on CZcams. Thank you for being a voice for us olive toned girls, so glad to see it finally being spoken about by multiple people! The struggle is real 💛

      Ahhh well I did mention I’m no expert I just try the best I could to share what worked for myself haha. Thank you for sharing Will watch it. My favourite video so far was from Audrey Coyne. She mentioned olive undertone leans more on the cool side and the hue of green depends on how strong the yellow hue is on your skin. Well I did search darker olive tones with neon pink I mean they can pull it off but I look at the clothes not them so to me it’s about complimenting and what works best.
      Also I do get very dark and tan during the summer and it’s the same unfortunately 🙈
      But again this undertone is not explained well ahhaha everyone has different stands on it but yeh reason I started the channel was to try and explore and as I explore and research I know I’ll keep learning new things like the one you mentioned :) 💕.

      AISHWARYA SHREE KARMAKAR hey! I have similar experience. Some warm undertone foundation oxidize reddish or pinkish and some are super yellow golden so depends on the brand. Usually green and purple veins are indicator or neutral undertones. But the. Olive also falls into that category ish - my veins are a mix of super few purple veins and and bluish greenish teal colour. I realized I was olive when most foundations warm, cool some neutrals just won’t work well on my skin. Also if your natural skin appear sallow, you might be olive as well. So I would say you could be neutral and also there is a possibility you could be olive. Wish I could see in person to help more :)

    In my humble opinion the military green shirt looks the worst on you than the bright pink and neon blue😂
