If you're not pink , yellow or quite neutral, chances are you might be olive undertone. I have been getting a few requests to share my thoughts on what looks good on olive skin tones. Since this topic has not been explored much, hopefully the information I share based on my personal experience from being Olive will help shed some light.

• Best Foundations That ... - Jak na to + styl
If you look great in ultra white, your cool. Warm looks best in off-white or ivory.
Hmmm I look good in kind of both but I lean towards off white. My wedding gown was off white :)
I used to think off white would suit me because im yellow dull green lol but it makes me look more yellow white ultra white look like disharmonious! I’m confused
@@adaintydream8759 Same here 🥴
I don't agree...I don't look good in pure white and definitely not in warm colors
My safe colours are basically earthy toned colors, that's never failed on me. I thought that I am super yellow since I have super strong yellowish undertones but oranges makes me more...yellow lol. I can work with muted oranges or dull oranges.
For green it's actually nightmare for me because I look really off mostly blue based green like turquoise, it makes me sickly and ashy. But again, muted or dull green looks purrrfect.
For blue, royal blue is okay but somehow makes me look yellow but still can pull it off.
Earthy colors, muted rich colors, muted rosey pink is my safe choice.
Same here! I was just shopping for a dress last week and thought I could pull off emerald green and it looked so off on my skin. and yes muted and dull works for me as well.
Love rosey pink :)
You described that perfectly.....same for me & I’m a warm olive. I stick w/mostly neutrals & muted warm tones but can also do white/ivory & some deeper jewel tones (like deeper blues- navy). Also, I like to wear black but in truth, charcoals look better on me....it’s often trial & error!😊
@@lgempet2869 love it!!!!
Same !! 😀
Based on my experience Olive skin looks best in dusty shades. I love how it looks when i wear dusty pink
I look washed out in dusty colors...not all olive reacts the same
My skin is cold olive, it nearly looks yellow grayish somehow, and I always have difficulty on finding perfect matches. This video has helped me a lot, thank you so much!
Oh wow I am soooo happy it helped ❤️my skin also looks greyish 🙈
@@OliveEmbrace Can you make a video for the best hair colors for olive skinned people?
HMDY oh man that’s a tough one! But I can try :)
Same here! I have cool olive light skin. Try burgundy, eggplant, purple blue, lavender, raspberry pink, aquamarine/teal or mint. These make wonders for me when I match the intensity that looks good on me.
I'm olive skin tone n believe it that all the neutrals n peachy pinks tea pink rose pink white n off white and charcoal grey more than black enhances my olive skin tones and freshen me up!!!!
same here!!!
Ditto!!
I agree....I’m a medium olive, leaning warm & specially gravitate towards charcoal (warm) grays as opposed to lighter, cooler grays which aren’t quite as complimentary.
Thank you so so much! 😄It’s really helpful, I can now sort out my wardrobe and actually tell what colours look dull as I’ve seen it on you💗🙏🏻
Mar04 ahh awesome! So happy to hear ❤️
thank you dear ..i have been struggling for many years as i always felt most the colors look off on me especially that i am muslim and wear hejab so the color of the head scarf really affected how i look ..some looks wonderfull while others look awfull and i never understood why until recently one cousin told me i am olive skin tone and suddenly i looked in the mirror VOILA i can see it ,i am olive indeed . it was so relieving to understand the reason why many many colors looked off on me
to sum all the colors that compliment my warm olive skin tone :
off whites are nice . white look bad
all saturated beige ,hot choclate drink color , laté , camel and ecru colors
all nude beigy pinks are nice
red must be saturated and definitely not orangy
very deep greens are okay like the top in your video
pastels are no no but i use them in skirts and pants
and actually neon colors except blue are very flattering in bikinis + all colors above
blues are a no -- no i never found a shade that works with me
some shades of gray look nice too
thanks for your very informative videos
Love hearing this! Yes I agree with those colours :) I love nude beige pinks as well.
I’m a olive skin tone and my cousin says I look dead sometimes I do seem to look gray more than yellow but on a good day I’m tan
But I still don’t know what color suits me
It's all about my experiences..,whenever I used to go any drugstore I didn't find any of my skin tone foundation, hard to find the colour but now my problem is solved thanks!!!!!
Absolutely agree!!!! thanks so much
The pink blazer looks gorgeous on you! Thanks for the video :)
Awe thanks so much!!!! And you are most welcome 💕
@@OliveEmbrace It may be the way its coming across, but the pink blazer looks more like a cool pink and you look great in it. From what I see, you are more of a neutral olive.
@@angel511000 I totally get what you’re saying :) you know what, you when might be right!
what eyeshadow pallettes/colors would you recommend? would urban decay naked basics 2 be ok?
Awesome video! I wish there were more videos talking about the olive undertone and clothes colors.
Please do more of these! I cannot figure out what kind of olive I am and this is really helpful!
Would love to :) also I recommend watching Merriam styles videos on olive skin for fashion!
@@OliveEmbrace ty!
Thank you for this great video! Il really helps a lot olive skintones !
Much love
I literally thought you looked freaking amazing in everything 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you this helps 💗
I just figure out my undertone is olive 🫒 and neutral
God bless you 🌸
The briight pink and Blue Look amazing on you.. ❤️ I love bright colours on me or blushes Tones.😘
Awesome vlog Jirah, love it got to check some of your videos to educate myself about fashion hehe
ELIE AND ME VIDEOS thanks so much 💕
Hmmm the shades I like are olive and military green, turquoise, burgundy, browns, gold. Basically earthy warm colours. I think the reason you like darker green isn't due to the olive skin but more to do with you having high contrast hair v skin, requiring as much depth of colour.
Ooo love those colours! Probably huh? I think eye and hair colour make a huge difference
I look awful in white - dead - and I know I'm olive. I'm pretty sure if you look good in white, you're cool. I also look awesome in red - though the shade is important.
Now that you say it, my wedding gown had to be off white because the optic super white ones I look sick.
I guess the bright colors wash you out because you are a warm olive - as you informed us in the beginning of the video -.
In my opinion of a cold olive medium skin tone person, i look worst with all oranges, peaches and corals, light brownish shades, yellow and rosey beiges, pastel rose, lavender, all military green shades.
My best ones are medium dark shades of berry, grey, brown, blue, green, red and purple/berry, plum, petrol, black and white.
The point is the answer to the following question:
What does "looking good" means? Apart from personal opinions, the answer is not unilateral.
First of all it depends on the temperature of your complexion.
In fact olive skin tones are very different one to the other, not only by the depth of the complexion but from the temperatures.
I am not an expert myself 😅 but i asked two color analysts before and they both considered my skin tone as neutral-cool.
What does it mean? As to begin we should understand that olive is a mix of maily two colors: green and yellow with a little bit of pink.
If your complexion contains more yellow hue than probably you have one of the many olive warm skin tones; if in your complexion is more visible the green and greysh hue than you probably have a moderate cool olive tone.
In the first case you would look great and healthy in peaches and coral both as regards of make up and wear since those colors are accentuating the yellowish hue of your complexion visibly putting aside the greenish overtone; on the other hand if you are an neutral-cool olive person peaches and yellows may make you look like a Simpson 😂😂 Instead greys, dark and desautorated magentas, plum, cool medium and dark reds, petrol shades make your face look less yellow, brighter, lighter ❤
Ps: i am a deep winter and i need some saturation in colors
I feel that being green is not easy but for me in the seasonal color analysis i thought im dark autamn but when i went to the market and bought a dull olive dress it looked terrible on me same with true and orangey red although im warm but warm browns ad true and orangey reds doesnt suit me i look great in colors you mentioned but i want to ask you a question you seem you know much information about that is soft colors look better or bright ones 😊 for example dark bright blue or soft blue and i have black hair and black eyes with medium olive skin
My olive just straight out of the bat loves green color 😂 I use deep green best. But peachy and dusty pink also looked good on me
Amazing video, very helpful thankyou so much 🙏
Oh my god you were spot on
It's not what looks good but what looks best. :) I agree with you. :)
Interesting. I have a medium olive skin. It looks warm, but I look best in cool tones, which has always been confusing to me. Anyway, I look best in very bright clothing, and I look bad and muted clothing. Hot pink, purple, royal blues are what I look best in. I’m also pretty high contrast. I am what’s considered a “vivid” whereas somebody who looks better in more dusty colors is called “muted”.
Thank you so much !! This is the most helpful video for me about olive skin ! Those colors are so beautiful I must try it !
Awe I’m so glad it helped! Honestly it’s not easy having olive skin because there isn’t enough info out there.
which shade of white do you prefer? the dirty white, off-white, ivory, pearl, or cream? (i know there are still lots of shade of white to mention)
I notice super white washes me out so I kinda go for off white ish :)
@@OliveEmbrace ohh, thank you so much
Also can you do blue hues clothing for olive skin tones?
Hey! Well for myself, I look good with most blue hues except super light pastel blue but that’s for someone with my skin tone which is warm olive :).
I am a pale cool olive Asian girl. I cannot wear neon and pastel (except periwinkle). I look muddy and gray. I look best in Deep jewel tones and most dark or muted blues. I can wear emerald, pine and olive green but not lime or apple. I look horrible in optic white makes me look greenish gray. My wedding was a nightmare on photos
Girl I feel you! My wedding gown was off white with nude undertone cause I also look off witj pure white.
I’m cool olive. I look good in cool colors but they have to be muted and soft with a medium tone. I look AMAZING in sliver or diamonds or anything with that white-ish icy sparkle also pinks (best color), purples and blues which have to be muted.
I'm similar skintone to you but a little fairer, do you have any tips for what sort of blonde shade of hair could look flattering with our olive skin? I find the same as you with shades of green clothing.
Sure! One thing I do know is that I do not look great with ashy blondes (silvery). I tend to lean towards warmer golden blondes.
I just googled and found some article suggest caramel, chestnut, mocha and avoid too much red tone (because red tone brings more green and you might end up looking like green hulk) but towards neutral-warm hair colour to cancel out the dull green of olive skin tone and to freshen up our skin tone. Hope this help =)
@@JoanKSX Thank you so much that's really helpful!
@@veggiesaurus5834 And last time my hairstylist get me orangey-red-based colour (I think maybe she thought I'm just yellowish warm LOL) and ends up I'm looking sicker than ever ----- true green hulk XD
Luckily after few weeks the hair colour faded and it turn more like soft slight ashy caramel or else I'll stay green hulk as ever XD
And please give feedback how the new hair colour look whether flattering or other way round. I'm so anxious to know =D
I know you think you're warm olive but with the colours you love on you and your overall look I would definitely say you're cool olive... just my observation :)
It’s funny cause I was watching merriam styles video and both cool and warm olive seem to apply to me lol is there such thing as neutral olive?🙈 cause I also question if I am maybe cool as well.
@@OliveEmbrace I completely agree and think this is true since olive skin tones are close to neutral whether they're warm or cool. Usually you can steer more towards one or the other. I'm exactly the same way and our colouring is similar. I can wear soft cool and warm (just not too warm) and bright cool colours for special occasions. You should also check out Jen Thoden who is amazing too!
Lissa Croft oh wow that’s awesome thanks so much for sharing :) love
Learning new things throughout this journey. I’ll definitely check her out!!!!
@@OliveEmbrace I just got the most amazing foundation in the mail today. It's recommended for olive skin. It's a gel radiance boosting one and it's amazing and smells like candy and flowers. It's by bourgeois and it's the healthy mix serum 52 vanille.
Lissa Croft yes I heard of bourgeois 🙈 I did hear they’re good for olive skin I tested it on my light skin olive friend which is in one of my videos and I’m thinking of trying it as well. I might try the same shade as you if we have similar shades! Not sure about my summer shade though.
You have deep coloring, the green jacket is to light green for you. Maby the depth is Very important for olives. Muted ,a bit dull colors for olives not grayish. Im trying to understand , your videos are great
I think it has more to do what is person's colour season, than just our olive skin. People can look very different with olive skin. Someone has very light skin and is cool olive, someone like you, warm olive. So many different shades. 😂
Gorgeous...!🧡
Stilla Ramirez 💕
I'm olive but I look more bright while wearing dull colour outfit... and white outfit just washed me out sadly
Yes, I realized the optic white washes me out. I look good with off white or beige
The hot pink brings out the pink in you cheeks
Which jewellery suits olive skin
Hey hey apparently it’s usually different for cool or warm olive. But some say olive falls into the neutral spectrum so most can look good in both silver and gold, which is the case for me but I am also warm olive.
Olive Embrace thank you❤️
Well for me I look good in silver and rose gold or like muted gold...yellow gold just looks so extra/too much for me...just try comparing different types of jewelry simultaneously to see the difference 😊
Actually I look the best in bronze jewellery...
@@musicdukhoo3004 same!
U look great in pink tho...like it or not...I'm like you...I look good in some colors but choose not to wear them often
you are cool olive
I appreciate your effort but I think you need to do more research on undertones. Maybe watch some of Merriam Style's videos, she really breaks it all the way down. Icy and hot pinks and any blues are never going to be best on olive tones because they are cool colors. Neither will pure white for the same reason (off white, ivory, beige are better for us as they are warm toned). And I disagree about the dull green and "dull yellow" looking bad on you, I actually think they really brightened your face and made you glow... As Merriam explains in her videos, in those colors, you stand out and it looks like you are wearing the clothes as opposed to the clothes wearing you. So I thought they looked good. If it's just a personal preference that you don't like how those colors look, that's a different story. And any pink that looks good is probably because it has a bit of a salmon or peach undertone.
Also, what you can wear may not be the same as a darker olive tone, I think darker, more tanned olive tones can definitely pull off brighter colors. They don't look as good on someone your shade, which is also my shade, because you look like you have warm and delicate tones, as opposed to warm and radiant. Some olive tones lean more towards cool though, and their color set will be different. But, if coral or peach looks great on you, then you're leaning towards warm (I'm the same). Check out Merriam's videos for explanation there, not trying to sound like an ad but she really breaks it all the way down better than anyone else I've seen on CZcams. Thank you for being a voice for us olive toned girls, so glad to see it finally being spoken about by multiple people! The struggle is real 💛
Ahhh well I did mention I’m no expert I just try the best I could to share what worked for myself haha. Thank you for sharing Will watch it. My favourite video so far was from Audrey Coyne. She mentioned olive undertone leans more on the cool side and the hue of green depends on how strong the yellow hue is on your skin. Well I did search darker olive tones with neon pink I mean they can pull it off but I look at the clothes not them so to me it’s about complimenting and what works best.
Also I do get very dark and tan during the summer and it’s the same unfortunately 🙈
But again this undertone is not explained well ahhaha everyone has different stands on it but yeh reason I started the channel was to try and explore and as I explore and research I know I’ll keep learning new things like the one you mentioned :) 💕.
@@OliveEmbrace Some olives are cool and some are warm, but if peaches and corals look good on you then you're probably warm leaning. Merriam breaks it down really well. It is definitely tricky having olive skin either way. Good luck!
@@Poeticdyme you just said that blues and pinks would never look good on olive skin tone BECAUSE they're cool.
Well if you're cool olive then they would absolutely work.
I believe I'm cool olive but I'm quite fair and I think I look better in cool colours, especially blues and greys.
I look hideous in orange, it clashes too much. I really think its so individual that you really have to just try things out for yourself.
Xana K. I completely agree with you!!!! All olives I believe have their own unique hue not all cool olives are the same and same thing with warm olives. I also do believe hair colour and eye colour plays a part as well :)
I didn't like Audrey's video at all because she didn't do a good job explaining and didn't do enough research in my opinion. I'm a light warm Olive and she said there's no such a thing as a light warm Olive. 🤔
What color is your hair in the thumbnail pic? :)
I believe it was chocolate brown :)
@@OliveEmbrace it looks very pretty on you, ty

@@OliveEmbrace hey , I want to ask why a warm undertoned foundation appears pink on my skin? I have green veins and a single purplish vein. Please help me out determining my undertone.
AISHWARYA SHREE KARMAKAR hey! I have similar experience. Some warm undertone foundation oxidize reddish or pinkish and some are super yellow golden so depends on the brand. Usually green and purple veins are indicator or neutral undertones. But the. Olive also falls into that category ish - my veins are a mix of super few purple veins and and bluish greenish teal colour. I realized I was olive when most foundations warm, cool some neutrals just won’t work well on my skin. Also if your natural skin appear sallow, you might be olive as well. So I would say you could be neutral and also there is a possibility you could be olive. Wish I could see in person to help more :)
@@OliveEmbrace I'll try sending pics on instagram and I have sallow skin slightly yellow and sometimes dull af.
In my humble opinion the military green shirt looks the worst on you than the bright pink and neon blue😂
