I realize that this light side of the olive spectrum hasn’t been represented enough- We all know the struggle being green, so hopefully this video will save you time and money.

Hey everyone! Just noticed from comments that most see kaylah as cool toned- I promise she isn’t since most make up is also too pink for herself. It’s also my fault for playing with the colours when I was editing my video, which probably is the reason why she looks pink but I guarantee you she is olive :) hope this helps!
My sister in law insists I'm cool, the Ulta app says I'm pink, and every time I go to Ulta I get told different too. I'm have a lot of redness just like kaylah so I feel her pain. Thanks for this ❤️
Maria Pelino-Lemons so happy to hear! Yes I have met a few olive skin peeps with a bit of red but they’re not cool toned at all.
@@MsLemonhead Most at Ultra were matching my foundation to the redness in my skin instead of my actual color!! It wasn’t until a fellow olive sister matched me did I find my matches!!
@@mamashiraz exactly! People always assume I'm pink because of the redness 🤦🏻♀️. I'm so happy to finally know what shade I am even tho it's so difficult to find foundation matches 😔. Why do companies always forget about us pale olive peeps 🤷♀️
@@MsLemonhead try the green primer trick on the other foundations! I can’t wait to see if it works!!
What’s so frustrating is the comments claiming she’s pink tones… this is the problem I have when I go into the makeup store. They want to give me Neutrals and Pinks based on the redness sitting on top of my skin. Then I go outside into my car, try it on and it is a completely different color (too dark, orange, pink, etc). Please understand that just because you see pink in her neck does not mean she’s a pink undertone. She can be a mix of multiple cool colors and be a cool olive. You are likely sending people home with the wrong foundation and wasting their time and money. My pet peeve is that I am being matched in a store with horrific lighting… when am I gonna be sitting in a store all day? That’s why now I test it in my car in the natural light of the day.
I feel you! i have the exact same experience most times I go into a make up store. I learned that before I buy makeup, I should ask to test and let it sit on my skin the whole day, so I could see it in different lighting.
is difficult to be olive, and even more difficult to be light olive hahaha
I couldn’t agree more ahhhaha!
@@OliveEmbrace it took me 24 years to understand my skin color and find the right makeup hahahaha
@@francisca8026 ahahaha I feel yah! Took me about 27 years 🤣👍🏼 after purchasing many makeup that didn’t work
Thank you for doing pale olive! This is me! I’m not pink, I’m not yellow.. I have a green caste, yet people seem to say I’m warm. But when I wear “warm” colors, I look grey. It’s so odd!
The Revlon colorstay 150 works perfect for my skin in the winter :) just found out I'm olive! My season color and everything makes sense now. If anyone is looking for more olive info Audrey Coyne, and Ali art have some helpful videos!
I know you posted this a while ago but What’s your season color? I’ve been so into the season colors lately and just discovered I’m a very pale olive! Thank you :)
I'm in my 30s and had a revelation that I'm a very pale cooler olive lady! Thank you for this video since all the cool toned foundations make me pink and the warm & neutral ones turn me yellow.
I just recently determined I’m olive after years of struggling to find the right foundation. So glad I stumbled upon your video and channel.
I have REALLY pale skin. I’ve decided to get rid of liquid foundation even though I have acne and redness. When I did use liquid foundation I used NYX can’t stop won’t stop! It was awesome. Recently I switched to mineral foundation. My fav drugstore mineral foundation is absolutely Neutrogena mineral sheers in classic ivory 010. Gives me a glow and evens texture and color!
This is my skin tone. I am a pale cool olive and am struggling to find foundation and other makeup too.
Wow yah not easy being green. Hopefully this helps ❤️
Same here. Everything is too yellow.
Same. Every foundation/bbcream turns orangey on me.
@@giuliaoswald7864 either orange or you look dead because the foundation is soooo pink. 😭
@bruannamaniac this is my life.
Korean brands do a fantastic job with pale olive skintones! Yensa works really well for me personally and it is very kind to my skin. I used to use maybeline superstay but moved away from matte foundtions but that worked well in 110-120 as well
I am light yellow olive originally from central Asia. Estee Lauder double wear 1w1 mixed with fenty beauty 145 just works so awesome for me😘
I can wear either Ivory or Buff in Revlon Candid on my pale olive skin. Buff is better for light makeup and Ivory for full makeup. Beautiful job in the testing and final look!
would love a high end version of this video!!
I love this. I am extremely pale. I have always wondered why light shades (I am talking like kvd l41 light) were too pink/yellow even though the lightness of the shade was right. Being olive makes so much sense. The colors and tones that look good on me match it 100% over warm or cool. Now the struggle will be finding a foundation light enough or that mixes with a white foundation well lol.
I've seen where you can buy a white foundation and nyx makes an olive mixer. Just use those 2 to create your perfect olive shade. 😊
This helped me so much!!! I paused the video to order the L’Oréal one!
Thank you so much for doing this video!!
Love this video tnx so much for making it, also love the pillow where did u find it and what were they called? The peacock one
Been struggling for over ten years trying to find something that matches my pale olive skin. This is the third video I’ve seen that recommends revlon candid so def gonna try it. Thanks so much.💕💕💕
Great job on her makeup she does look flawless
Ahh his glad it helped 💕 thanks so much
Can we do a light medium olive slin? Im about a nc20 but even that is off in undertone for me
I'm light olive...she looks fair olive
I use Revlon Colorstay Buff 150 and (as you mentioned) it can sometimes almost cast a tiny bit too yellow but is overall a good match! I’m very pale olive like her in the video.
So pretty!!!! Thanks for this video very helpful💕
So happy 😀
I don't know.. I feel like those foundations did not match her skin tone at all. It's supposed to match your neck, not that "maybe I'll try blending it in" - it should basically blend in by itself since it should look like your neck's skin color. She looks either cool or neutral toned maybe, not olive. You cannot see any green in her skin.
I don't know if the camera pics up colours differently from what they look like irl, but at least in the vid, her skin seems much more pink than an olive skin tone actually is 🤔
@@LourStirling agree.. Must be a camera thing.. The one they gave 10/10 doesn't match either. It was too yellow /orange than her neck.. 🤔
Exactly what I thought. Her neck looks pink to me.
I needed this !!
So happy 😀
Even though the lighting is less than ideal, I find this interesting. Thanks!
I’ve long described myself as neutral, with the majority of warm and cool foundations looking off on me, so I’m looking around at the reviewed foundations that work on cool pale olives.
When folks ask what I am, I say I’m two-toned, because I’ve got a fair amount of superficial redness, which looked great when I was young, but now add mild rosacea on top of that, as well as middle aged, sun-damaged, psoriatic skin - ugh. Would love to find something that my skin doesn’t react to (very, very dry, and highly sensitive.)
Thanks again.
Yes working on lighting :) oh wow I hope you do find makeup that works for you. You are most welcome 🥰
I have tried these foundations which I think look good for light olives: Benefit Hello Happy in Shade 2, UD Hydromaniac in shade 30, Maybelline Matte and Poreless in 118. I've tried some of the ones that we're in this video too and they looked good on me also. I'll be trying some of the ones in this video that I have not tried.
I love hydromaniac. 20 is close but not quite perfect. I will try 30 next! Thank you!
I am confused. She looks cool and pink. Her neck area pink red. That Warm 2.5 is my exact shade. I am fair Olive when I don’t tan and when I tan I turn the darkest brown almost black looking. Of course I don’t do that anymore that’s so 1998 but still. Is she really Olive/yellow if that L’Oréal doesn’t suit her at all? I would say she is fair then.
I have a high pink overtone so finding any foundation to take the edge off has been hard. Everything was too pink or too orange. I got so frustrated that I've taken to using just green primer mixed with pore filler and then loose powder on top! Thanks for some leads on products!
I love how helpful this was! ♥️♥️😂 Thank you :) I've naturally always been receptive to easily tanning, held golden-brown undertones, am a warm undertone but it's a very unique blend... I've used a color detecting app before & it pinpointed greys... and overall, a site recommended an olive foundation selection for me. 👀 Am starting to realize, I'm a light to olive & warm undertone blend. It's very interesting.
Omg. I kept getting wrongly.. One day was a cool ELDD and when I went back and tried again... Saying nothing.. Walked out with a warm.. (2 diff girls).. But the ones I have that match me the best are the loreal pro glow, the Fit me 118, and colorstay buff... No clue as to why.. But now i know! Learning lots today and you got a New subscriber here
Please tell me what app you used that found your undertone! 😊
This was great!
Beautiful!
I have such a hard time buying foundation lol I think I'm pale/neutral olive....maybe just barely darker than hers. What seems to match my skin one week doesn't match the next week....or only matches in my bathroom lighting and nowhere else. Everything I buy ends up either looking too pink or too orangey or too dark or too light. I'm definitely going to look into these foundations.
Yes sometimes it oxidizes differently as you wear them longer during the day. It’s super frustrating I bet. Hopefully these help ❤️
@@OliveEmbrace Where are you located? I am in the NY metro area and I'd love to be your next victim. I am older with a light olive complexion, but not as light as the beautiful gal in the video. I also have some sun freckles and a couple of small age spots that are no darker than the sun freckles, so I need a foundation with good coverage.
@@sandycoulter ahhhh I would love to 🙈! But I live in Canada ahhahaa. Honestly been looking for more cool olive models!!!!
@@sandycoulter actually, I could even do a fun virtual consult with you too! Shoot me a message on Instagram if you are interested 💕
@@OliveEmbrace oh! I think I’m cool olive since browns, curry colors, baby pooh color lol make me look sick (I go green around my lips). I’m in Vancouver :) Where are you close to? If it’s too far please let me know if you’d have bit of time to talk? I’m older plus I have a big brown splotch on side of face that makes me camera shy with out make up.
Catrice true skin have olive shade I have to mix warm olive and neutral ivory to get my shade and mixing the two means it works all year round more ivory in winter more warm olive in summer it's really full coverage though you can try to thin it down with moisturizer if it's too heavy
Can you do a concealer video for pale olive skin?
Hi I'm pale olive too and my perfect match is revlon colorstay (dry/normal) 150buff.
I recently bought maybelline fit me matte pore less in the shade 110 and it fits me it's a little on the warmer side but it doesn't oxidize so it doesn't get orange it'a nice pale yellow tint.
I bought that too! I get the perfect match when I mix the 120 fit me with my 150 buff Revlon colorstay. I also have fit me in 110 (lighter warm) and (112) pinker neutral color . But I found that when I mix it with any yellow foundation it turns grey even then. Same with 150 on its own if it's built up. I can just get away with it as a light layer it's too pale for me. So definitely I think I'm an olive.
Try fit me Matt & poreless in 118
Finally!!!!! I'm pale olive!! I could never figure out my tone. Im not too warm or pink, it was weird for me to find good colors.
So good to know!!!!
Maybelline Superstay in true ivory fits when you have pale olive skin. I used it for years and it was the only color which matches my skin perfectly. When you look at it, you can see it is beige/greyish.
What a fun video! Thank you for sharing ❤
I’m assuming the camera isn’t true to color because beautiful Kaylah’s skin does not look olive at all to me. I’m still VERY thankful for this video because I have light skin (Fenty soft matte 145, MAC NW13-NW15) but my undertone is very obviously green. Sooooo unnerving because finding anything below medium tan olive foundation is pretty hard to come by. (Thank you Rihanna for soft matte shade 145, the closest I’ve found) I use green color correctors with most of my foundations because of this. Thank you ladies for breaking the mold!!! You’re both gorgeous!! *edit: should’ve read the pinned comment first. my bad guys*
Hey hey :) all good! Thanks so much for sharing your shades- super super helpful ✨🥰 . And I totally agree and can only imagine the struggle for cool olives! I am warm olive and I still have a hard time finding shades but there seems to be more options compared to cool olives. So good to meet you! Love love netting olive skin babes! ❤️
I'm wondering if the olive green shirt the model is wearing affects how she looks through the camera's eye? Because my skin has an olive green tone, I avoid wearing green. I look best in cool dark colors like blue, gray, burgundy, etc.
I thought exactly the same thing.
Oh yay!! I have both the best 2 she chose!! I’m 55 and never found a good affordable match that wasn’t matte. Morphe’s olive is a perfect match but I can’t wear it...it’s so bad I can’t imagine who can wear it!!
I just stopped wearing makeup because it looked bad. Finally someone at Ulta helped me- she was a pale olive sister!! I have both the Revlon and the Candid foundation!! I’ll have to try the green primer to see how that cancels out the redness. Great video!!
oh awesome! So good to know. Thank you so much
@@OliveEmbrace Also, I’ve never tried it but supposedly EX1 foundation from Italy is made for olive skin. 🤷🏻♀️
@@mamashiraz I have tried ex1 but from what I’ve heard it’s more for warm olive and not sure about cool olive yet
@@OliveEmbrace oh wow!! Glad I mentioned it so I won’t order it!! My budget is drug store level anyways 😊
Can someone please help me lol I have really pale ghost white skin with grey veins and barely blue veins and I tan faster then I burn my skin tone plus my undertone makes me look kinda sick so does anyone know what undertone I have?
Omg thats me! So happy to see another pale olive person finally😆
I was looking for a review/undertone on the creamy natural pro glow foundation because this one seems to match me the best of what I have...but not enough coverage.. Any tips for that?
I wanted to mix the Matte version but I can’t find a shade to mix in. All seems too light cool or pink grey in the matte.
What green primer did you use on her?
Thanks for this. I'm fair olive. Loreal Proglow in the shade 202 creamy natural is a really good match for me. I wear the shade Buff - 120 in the Revlon Candid . I'd love to try the Bourjois but I don't think we can get it here
Awesome! :)
Amazon has the Boujous foundation
No. 7 perfect and protect in calico is one of the few that works on me
Gorgeous..!💚
I bought the candid cuz of a CZcamsr too and this is perfect for my skin as well.
Yesss!!! Love hearing that :) yay
Best to show in daylight
Can someone tell me exactly what would be a cool light olive undertone? I see yellow on my face but my neck is more pink?
I'm a neutral olive and my shades that are dead on are: Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia, Fenty 105, and Armani Luminous Silk in 3. I would KILL to find a drugstore dupe for any of these. I'm quite a bit paler than she is so I might try a couple of these and see what works.
Ooo! Yes I heard those brands are olive skin friendly and I use the same brands :) let me know how it goes.
Have you tried the Nyx vanilla nude? I’ve heard that that one is supposed to be good for pale olives!
@@OliveEmbrace I found the most amazing Revlon foundation its called colorstay light cover and I got buff. SO good
@@mirannda yes!!! I’ve heard good things about that
@Saturn Academicus fenty is pretty decent, rare beauty was a chalky mess, but I just recently switched to Nars Gobi in sheer glow and couldn't be happier.
I would be interested to see choices for light olive skin as well. I have an olive skin tone, but I am not as pale as the model, somewhere in the middle of light shades. And yes, everything looks yellow, pink, or orange on me. My perfect shade is Confidence in a Compact Foundation with SPF 50+ Fair but it's been discontinued.
Awe sure I can try if I see a model similar 🙈 are you cool or warm light olive? Is confidence a drugstore makeup?
@@OliveEmbrace I am neutral. Confidence is from IT Cosmetics. Thank you! Also, I just discovered that Loreal Infallible Full Wear Concealer #345 is my perfect match.
Irina Flowers oh awesome! I’m between neutral and warm :) I lean closer to the neautrAl on the spectrum but also a bit of warm. Oh that’s awesome! Good to know you found some that worked for you. I recommend checking out bourjois Paris as well
F1 yes I fell for that it's like white on me and pink lol
Where can you buy Borjouis foundation? I am in the states and can only find it on Amazon 😩
Awe I bought mine in shoppers drug mart here in Canada! Maybe check ulta?
Closest match for my light olive skin is Nyx Bare With Me vanilla nude. Morphe has a good light olive one but I hate the formula.
Ooo nice! Thanks so much for sharing 💕
i love hte morphe color, but the formula...yeah, its tough. im playing with it myself
Mine is that NYx and the L’Oréal 2.5. the Pro Glow creamy natural works but it oxidizes.
I do wish y’all had used better lighting. She looks pink here, not olive. I’m confused.
Revlon colorstay 150 buff was my go to for SO LONG. But I'm trying to widen my horizons and it is NOT easy 😅
I know how you feel 🙈💕
I was thinking of buying this as I’ve heard it’s good for pale olive skin. What is the formula like?
@@mialia8120 well there are two, there's one for dry/normal skin and one for oily skin. When I was younger I used to use the one for oily skin in the summer and the one for dry skin in the winter! The oily one is VERY matte, and the dry one is not as matte but I wouldn't say it is dewy or anything of that matter. I tried them again within the last few years and I would never be able to use the oily one now as it's too matte and dry for my skin these days. Both are very long wearing, they were my go to for YEARS. Definitely worth trying for the price, and the shade is really hard to find in any other drugstore foundation because pale shades are usually either very pink or more yellow!
@@charmaineraynbow YES, pale shades are indeed usually pink or yellow. It’s drives me nuts. I’m not sure I can even get this foundation in the UK. I hope so. Thank you for the tips!
Just an FYI, for those willing to splurge...the La Mer natural #12 is luxuriously spot on for my pale olive skin.
Alexandra Anele has a good vid on olive foundations for fair to light skin tones
My only gripe is that you didn't match the foundations to her neck and chest, so ALL of them looked too light - making it difficult to see the tones.
Other than that it was a good vid.
Oh, I would have liked to hear the thoughts of the lady who acted as your model.
She gave her thoughts.
I do Wonder if I’m olive. Cool foundations look pink on me, Even neutral foundations turn pink. Warm foundation that is not too yellow, work. I’m very fair, but can get a tan if im out in The sun. Blue eyes, ashy medium blonde hair.
just when I think I'm cooler my neck looks warmer and more green. Then I try a more warm foundation and I look more cool.
She is NOT olive. I see mostly pink.
I can't seem to find 49.5 in the bourjois at my store....do you know the name of it? The foundations have names (like "beige" ) . Also doesn't come up on google :(
Oh what? I got it from shoppers drug mart here in Canada :/ and the names were just the numbers. It’s also the same on their website:)
@@OliveEmbrace I just looked for 49.5 as well and I couldn't find it online, not even on their website :(
@@DeepSeaBeauty2 oh what? hmmm I wonder if they either discontinued it or it’s unavailable at the moment. I actually just got that’s foundation from a drugstore here in Canada.
That’s probably the batch number and not the shade number.. I’m guessing she’s a 51 or 52??
@@pheebs2083 thank you!! I think 51 came up when I used the online foundation matcher and matched the revelon 150buff in colorstay. That must be it :)
So, with cool pale olive skintone, should we choose a cool toned foundation? Because warm & yellow tones don't work, and some neutral ones tend to look achy and dull.
Hmm I tend to avoid cool toned foundation cause they tend to be pink, but the ones I used on her were some neutrals but like you said, some neutrals can look ashy... each brand is different so it’s a matter of exploring which brand works best but for olive skin in general, it falls under the neutral category for most. I had some neutral foundation look ashy as well and I had some brands that are neutral that worked well for me.
I’m pale olive and it’s so hard. Anything warm looks too yellow/orange, but also a lot of neutral colours look too dull, peachy and grey, but neutral is better than warm. Cool is too pink. I still have yet to find my best match.
I'm pale olive I know the struggle I'm 41 and still looking for my ideal shade I've heard and I'm going to try glam shop Poland foundation does have olive shade from very pale to dark and warm and cool olives because you can still be cool warm and neutral in olive lol just to add confusion sorry but because of the shipping I'm waiting until there are few items I want There loose powder and eyeshadow palette are amazing too really good quality brand it's an indie brand so you're supporting that too
I'm definitely going to try that! I get my olive skin from the Polish side of my family so maybe the solution is Polish foundation :)
I am warm olive with skin tone in-between Kayla and yours. I wonder what would work for me.
Same
The first one. That is my perfect shade and I am what you describe. Milani conceal and perfect in Vanilla but it can oxidize just a little. For concealer Age Rewind Neutralizer is perfect.
I'm a very fair olive and my best shade match is revlon photoready candid in 120 buff. I don't like the thick texture though and it's a little too much coverage. I'm looking for a lighter coverage formula that suits my skin type as well as skin colour
Thanks for sharing! I do recommend Bourjois Paris. The texture is very lightweight.
That Buff color from Revlon used to work well for me until Revlon lightened it, making it too light for me. This 120 Buff color worked so well because it has pink undertones to combat the yellow-green undertones of pale olive skin. I switched to Revlon 220 Natural Beige which is a slightly darker but correct shade but lacks the pink undertones that 120 has. I look good in the mirror but sometimes in photos I look greenish, so I have taken to finishing with a light pink blush all over.
@@sandycoulter have u tried Revlon color stay in 180 sand beige ? Maybe mixing that in would help or some other foundation. Wish u all the best xx

It didn't seem you ladies wiped off previous trials of foundation before applying new ones. I'm not sure how accurate this is going to be...?
Do you think Bourjois Healthy Mix in the shade 51 is also olive?
Hmm I haven’t tried that specific shade but I do believe majority of this brand’s shades are olive skin friendly because they seem to lean towards the neutral side. For myself, I use the shade N53 I think.
I have seen that as well , although haven't tried it. I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know about the N range working for olives I probably would have bought the wrong shade possibly. Maybe I'll try that and let u know 🙂
Light olive.... mature skin (over 50), on the warm side with olive green eyes..... I find the color matching for eyeshadow with olive green eyes and olive green skin to be extremely difficult...
Anyone near you that can model with foundation issues/concerns of lack of luminosity, fine lines and wrinkles, dry skin, uneven skintone....and then with redness and dark circles that come on due to food allergies... with selfie photo-ready potential?
I personally prefer high end cosmetics for personal everyday use; however I am looking for drug store products that can be used for selfie photos and photoshoots for resumes, webpages, profiles, etc.
Unfortunately, I think (after digging for a while), the Revlon Photoready Candid is being discontinued :( :(
Oh no way! :(
I am not light olive but it was soooo satisfying to watch when you ladies found a match!!!! Looking forward to a video like this (especially drugstore foundations) for other olive undertoned people!!!

Absolutely!!!!!!! you might be cool olive? does your skin look sallow and dull with no makeup?
@@OliveEmbrace Yes! I’ve always thought I just had dull skin, because I also have a dry skin type, so I assumed I needed to exfoliate more, but it never changed the dullness!
@@theminnemouse7341 you might be if ever! Also if you find it super challenging to find makeup that works it’s also a huge sign. If you look ashy or green next to other people with similar shade as you, you most likely could be olive.

She sure is- very green in natural lighting.
There are cool and warm olives. Check out MerriamStyle videos. 😊
@@gabysam2136 yeah I know that. But she looks just cool toned maybe adjust your lighting because I see no olive
Karina Palazzo I was thinking the same but it has to be the lighting.
@@TracyD2 Not just the lighting but can also be the color calibration of your monitor or other viewing device. Too many variables to figure it out.
Neither of them look like olives, maybe it’s just the lighting, but olive means a green undertone, not pink as the paler lady has, or warm yellow as the other has. Plus there’s no such thing as ‘warm’ olive, if you call it warm olive then it’s Tan, not olive. Green is not a warm colour. It’s so hard to find actually olive beauty youtubers
Hey! You make a totally valid point thank you :) there isn’t a set theory for olive tones. Growing up I thought I was yellow- because of my Asian background but no make up has ever worked with warm tones. Until a lady told me I had a green hue and when I started using olive shades for makeup, it worked perfectly. Also based on my experience and research, green is a mix of blue and yellow and blue is a cool colour and yellow is a warm colour. So according to how much blue or yellow, it determines how cool or warm the green is. There is cool green and warm green, just like different shades of green we see. but I love your point! Thanks so much for sharing🤍 love learning with the olive skin community.
None of you have olive tone.
