Hints 1) Put some anti-seize on the threads of steel bolts threading into an aluminum case. 2) Check for proper oil flow after the job (there's a screw for that up on the cylinder head near the spark plug) 3) Never fiddle with the dipstick on this ATV while the engine is running. Trust me on that one.
Carter Vanden Bos if it hasn't quit running in 21 years, I'd say it ain't gonna. But I did change the oil and filter. Old oil looked like it was 8 months old. Still running good. Just got a bearing somewhere that needs replacing.
I own a 1992 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 2X4 and my manual says not to screw the dipstick in but just to set it on the threads to check the oil level... you probably need more oil.
Three questions. Were those metal shavings in the small filter on the oil drain side (why didn't you dump them out)? And was that a new o-ring for the big filter housing in the box with the new filter? What is the carquest part number for the filter?
There were no metal shavings in the small metal filter. There might have been a little bit up build up in there that I cleaned out but was not included in video. I never need the extra o-ring that came with the filter. I do not remeber the filter number off the top of my head. I beleive I had them look it up for me at carquest.
I have the same quad. I was wondering have you ever replaced the front brakes. I made a stupid mistake and I am left over with an washer and do not no the order that it goes back on.
I have a 92 and i found the service manual and owners manual on yamahaforum.com and the link is www.mediafire.com/?41iytxnr0me look through 92 and 93 because all they did for the 93 section was add the pages that changed from 92 to 93. good luck!
My drain plug won’t come off for anything I swear we tried and tried for two hours prying and tugging on the thing but it just won’t budge so we ended up having to get a oil pump to get the oil out 😂
Mine is the same. I'm going to try an impact gun in the morning. I was wondering if you could raise it up and tilt it and let it drain out the oil filter side? I may have to get an oil pump if that won't work.
You guys probably did it already but what I did was I took a pipe and used it to get leverage on the wrench. It eventually came off with almost 1/5 the pressure I originally put on

Hey folks, the FRAM # for this filter is CH10759.
Thanks for the simple video on this job buddy.
Thanks for the video. I haven't changed mine in 21 years.. I'm thinking it might be time.
I think that would be a good idea, especially if you want it to keep running!
