    Just remember we don't heal as quickly anymore (I just turned 60 last week) as we did in our younger years when we were 10 foot tall and bullet-proof.

      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety +3

      True, we don't heal as quickly, but we also know how to enjoy the sedentary life better !! I'm taking it easy, and each day the leg is allowing me a little more use, so it is getting better... Just the bruising is really ugly.. No Bikinis this season Thanks for the comment !

      Just keep the shower side of your Aliner away from the road when you setup. Would hate to see you having LE interrupt your camping to investigate elderly abuse from receiving a report about some naked guy beside the road with bruises. Just for a fun fact, I live to the southeast of you near Rockingham in the Sandhills. I don't do well with the heat and humidity, so looking forward to the fall to get up in the mountains to camp. I watch your site in particular for your opinion on the different places to camp. Thanks, take care.

      The mountains RIGHT now are fantastic, 20 degrees cooler than the Piedmont. I did a review of Mortimer Campground 3 years ago. One of my first videos. Fantastic nice place. I may get back there. But keep it on your radar. It just about 20 miles northwest of Lenoir, and about an hours drive..LOL

    Thank you SO much for this video! I visited several years ago and took the same hike to the top overview of the falls. What a beautiful Hike, but tiring. Visited Moses Cone too, just wish I could have had a little more spending money. Thank you for brining back some beautiful memories. Love the Blue Ridge Parkway!

      Its okay, no need to have it checked, I know exactly what they would do, and I can do that all by myself, It wasn't displaced or anything, so it will knit back together on its own.. It been 3 weeks and its getting better. I Just have to keep an eye on this huge hematoma. LOL.

    I think next Summer I'll be using NC parks for my annual long journey. We really have a beautiful country.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety +1

      State parks have the best facilities, but tend to fill up quickly with reservations. I don'y usually like to plan that close on timing, so its a pain. I've noticed that a lot of peopl emalke the reservation and never show up. Talk ing to the host at Stone Mountain State park, NC, He pointed out 5 campsites in a totally booked campground that were reserved for the week and were not claimed by anyone. And then sometimes people reserved 2 sites, just so they aren't next to anyone, beuase they tend to be so cheap. But they are great if you can get them.

    Hey Rick, I was up that way last week (10/25/18). Stayed around Deep Gap. Unfortunately the color is a little behind this year. If you've never been, go up to Elk knob state park sometime and hike the summit trail. We hiked it last week. Awesome views up there! Thanks for all the informative vids. Love the dogs!

      Thanks !! I may just do that. I'm waiting on a "Cargo Liner" for the New Ride to try to keep the boys from destroying the car before its has 10,000 miles on it. But that is a place I have been meaning to go. Thanks for the comment !

    Beautiful views of the parkway. Just after the Viaduct opened up, my husband and I hiked on a trail that wound under it. We got photo's looking up at the Viaduct.
    Get well soon. Because of your injury the park left you a sad face at 3:12. Can you see it?
    Thanks for the great video!

      Wow.. Now that good observation powers... Yes on the Viaduct trail.. That was closed !!! Its from the "Linville Cove Visitor Center". They were doing some repair on the trail from the recent heavy rains. Its a neat area.

      You can look at Tsuki reply for the leg situation... Its almost 90 % after 3 weeks, so it is healing ok, I doubt they would do anything because it was my femur, my upper leg bone, you can't put a cast on it.

    Hi Rick, not sure if you see comments from your old videos. I stayted at the Linville campground Oct 2021 site 70 the last on the right as you exit.
    I did the hike down to the bottom of the gorge where that guy was on the rock. It was the hardest hike I have done, but beautiful. I have videos also.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 2 lety

      Yes, I get notified and see all comments on any of my videos, and also on anyone else video I leave a comment on. Yes that is a hard hike down. My prior boys were going to do it, but they really weren't up to it. But the bottom of the gorge in the hot summer is just heavenly!!

    Beautiful area and not a bad looking campground although a little more shade would have been nice. I enjoyed the series of videos. Take the time to heal !! I just cut a trip short after trying to push on with a broken rib. Get well soon and keep the trips coming for those of us left behind.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety

      Ribs hurt so bad, and take so long to heal because you use them to breath ! And they are usually accompanied with torn ligaments... I'd say just stop breathing for 2 weeks and they will heal faster... or maybe not !! Thanks for the comment !

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety

      I'm pretty sure I cracked the bone. If I pressed down on my thigh the bone actually moved, like it become a "U". But it wasn't dislocated or apart, so I figured it would heal in 3-6 weeks if I treated it nicely... So I have been staying off it. It doesn't hurt al all standing on it... Just any bending or twisting WAS excruiating.... very hard to sleep the first week.. but its been 3 weeks now, and its just a little painful when I walk to fast or take big steps. I even went up stairs today..

    • @kawaikui
      @kawaikui Před 6 lety +1

      Ouch :(( Don't forget to take your daily vitamins with supplements & minerals and eat well to help healing and pain from inflammation. Forgive me for sounding like a nagging Mom. Lots of sleep is important too, LOL! Carry on . . .

      HA ha... Thanks for your concern and the comment. I was thinking it would maybe heal crooked, and I would have that song to enjoy... "There was a crooked man who had a crooked leg, and raised a crooked dog."... Anyway, we used to sing it at summer camp !!

    You think you broke your leg...and your limping to get a video...down a trail...😳😳...I hope you went to Urgent Care somewhere! Something??😳😳🌷🚍

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety +2

      Well "Broke" maybe too strong for people to understand... I thin it was cracked along the bone, because I could pres on my lap and it would bend. But it hardly hurt to stand on it straight up and down. So as long as I kept it straight it was okay. When I got back to work though stairs were out of the question... thank goodness for elevators. Its mostly almost healed... I'll just be protective of it for another 3 weeks

  • @leslieewing9088
    @leslieewing9088 Před 6 lety

    Did Dakota go on this trip? I didn't see him.
    Break a leg, and you didn't go to a clinic, hmmm??? This sounds like something my husband would do, until I got on his case and keep on it until he got it checked out! He still thinks he's immortal!

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety +2

      No,, Wanted to bike so Dakota stayed home. He likes his girlfriend and doesn't like chasing the bike anymore.
      It was a lateral crack in the bone, meaning from end to end on my Femur. They would not cast it as there is nothing to secure it to unless they went all up around my waist. NOT HAVE THAT DONE ! It knitted up in a week or so and will completely heal in 6 weeks. No big deal. The risky part is the huge blood clot (Sub Dural Hematoma) in the thigh that I need to keep from killing me... So whats the problem !!??? A couple aspirin and back to work !!
      I could probably use a good women to nag me into living a little longer !!

    • @leslieewing9088
      @leslieewing9088 Před 6 lety +2

      Going NoWhereFast I didn't mention that people our age often get blood clots when a bone is broken. I didn't want to scare you! So you did get it checked out! Good! Take care of yourself so I can continue to enjoy your videos!

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  Před 6 lety

      Ya, I know the risks, and the treatment regimes. I have a pretty good medical background... I hurt myself a lot...LOL
