one thing I am kinda sad they never did, was to summon up OP captain planet. there was one ep' where a "gaia" of another planet showed up (mars?) and gave the planeteers power gloves, to use instead of their rings. what would happen if they tried to "let out powers combine" with those?

Morty clapped cheeks and became the Avatar this week. It didn't work out. But this is clearly the best relationship Morty has ever had. I was ready for it to get some much more messed up than it did

Heart was actually the most powerful of the elements in captain planet. The reason it didn't exist here was because it would have saved them all. Without heart you just become monsters too.
This shows the difference of how Rick and Morty handles their situation in face of breaking up.
When Morty love someone, the girl loves him back. Making it really difficult for Morty when they split up or leaves him behind.
But when Rick love someone, he already knows that the girl might not love him back. That's why he's already accustomed to the situation when he's being left behind. He then just moves on like nothing happened even if it really hurts him inside.
He tried to kill himself after Unity left him, I think he didn’t care about that alien because he was also just using her for an escape just like she was using him
The only time Rick felt bad was probably in S4 finale when he says "I am a bad father"

This episode is also an allegory for teenagers who have had experience requisite to appreciate someone older
Ways that heart is the most badass power:
1) The ability to cause heart attacks at will.
2) The ability to mind control people by manipulating their emotions. Why bother fighting when you can make your enemies commit suicide out of fear, or fall deeply in love with you and join your side?
3) The ability to detect the other magic rings, and therefore the ability to pick off their wielders one by one to steal their rings and gain their powers.
4) The ability to control animals.
Seriously, since when did people start considering actual mind control a weak power? Ma-Ti is straight up Professor X in this bitch. He could end any episodes central conflict instantly by just commanding the enemy to surrender. He doesn’t do that because he’d consider it unethical, but the power is there.
Ma-ti could walk into the White House and take control of the president of the United States if he wanted to. And there wouldn’t be a damn thing anyone could do to stop him. He’s got the fucking Mind Stone.

I feel like this episodes A story was the most relatable plot in the series which is what makes the ending hit so hard. Morty just experienced his first love and ended up breaking her heart at the end. He’s beginning to grow and can handle himself without Rick but he’s turning more and more into Rick.
Not his first love, he’s been in love with Jessica for most of the series, and remember that girl he was with in the Vat of acid episode, he was in love with her too, but still I think it was the first time he had to break things off himself which is why it was so hard

Adding to what Suraj said, Dan Harmon himself probably had some input towards Loki. He was pulled in to help out with Doctor Strange but ended up leaving shortly after. Since multi verse of madness is heavily connected to Loki and Michael Waldron not only worked for Dan Harmon on R&M but is a screenwriter for MoM, he probably recommended Mike for the job and helped plant the seed in the early meetings he had.

@@mindwarr It's just a theory I have from being a long-time fan of Dan Harmon and putting this stuff together. But I think it's unfair to say baseless since I gave a lot of base and built up from there. I'll quickly walk you through it just in case you aren't as much of a Harmon obsessive as I've been for the last 9 years.
BASE: Dan Harmon helped out with the writing of the first Doctor Strange movie. He said after the fact not much of what he contributed was used in that movie. What I think this means is that he was helping out with more long term planning. We know Marvel plans their shit out far ahead. Also I think Dan Harmon was probably pulled in to help that movie because of Rick and Morty was gaining a lot of popularity for being about multiverse dimensional hopping etc. Additionally Dan Harmon has very good connections with the Marvel universe. The Russo brothers started their career on Community, Dan Harmon's break out sitcom. Mike Waldron(writer of both Loki and MoM) got his first job when he was hired by Dan Harmon in the first season of Rick and Morty as well as his other show Harmonquest. Dan Harmon now has one of the biggest recent TV contracts with his 70 episode deal on Rick and Morty. This was what caused him to end his podcast Harmontown. He started that podcast after being fired from Community and having nothing else to do with his time. He ended it shortly after getting one of the most secure TV contracts in recent history. He's basically admitted that he's probably going to effectively retire after Rick and Morty. This leads me to believe he doesn't have the schedule to be continuing work on DS, so as a compromise he recommended an up and coming writer he hired to flesh out the MoM stuff he likely talked about in his meetings with Marvel for DS. Marvel were probably happy with this recommendation because they probably like hiring fresh writers, especially ones who are as familiar with R&M-like story telling such as Mike Waldron.
To be clear though, I don't think Dan had a very large impact on Loki beyond starting the career of its showrunner. His input was most likely directed more toward MoM.

This is one of the best episodes of the season, for the Morty story. It's so heart-breaking. Not my favorite of the season due to the heavy canon laden throughout, but that song over the relationship (Kishi Bashi's 'I am an antichrist to you') was just...oof.

What I like about this episode is how Morty genuinely love Planetina and how Planetina also genuinely love Morty back.
Just like with the Glasses Girl in Season 4 Episode 8, but only this time nobody messed up and ruined their relationship except for their difference in how they view the lives of the people.
Morty, even though we already know that he have already killed a lot of lives, is still against to killing innocent peoples. While on the other hand, Planetina can only see those people as the cause of pollution, which is at odds with her purpose of saving the environment.

Planetina is my favorite Rick and Morty villain character yet because she's such a self-righteous narcissist but it comes off in a realistically subtle way despite her actions. Like, she murdered 300 people and tried to separate a 14 yo boy she's dating from his parents but she pouted a little bit and said something only a manipulative narcissist would say before flying off in tears so I feel bad for her. She's totally going to go write a melodramatic AITA post and then wage a one-woman flame war on commenters before deleting it.

Like they say in the show, she's some kind of manifestation of the 4 elements not an actual person. Age of consent is not a single constant across the world, it's a legal thing. This is a fictional situation that literally could not happen in real life, so we don't have laws in place for it. There's no point in getting butthurt about it because, again, this isn't REAL. Get over it.
Funny you guys disagree with her about not eating animals when it's actually one of the easiest things individuals can do that would have the most impact.
