This is a must watch if you just got a Crane M2 especially if you are using a phone mount. The instructions are much more clear than on the official Zhiyun youtube channel.

I’m just not having any success balancing an iPhone XS/Moment case/Wide angle lens combination, even with various counterweight setups... I can only balance the rear motor with that setup. Any ideas?

Hi! can I ask you one thing: Is it possible to balance a smartphone well and leave some gap between the right side of phone & the tilt motor so that mic / headphone could be connected for better audio? I asked Zhiyun but they did not answer in a definitive manner. Thx in advance

I’m thinking of buying one of these so very useful, one question, does it matter which way round you mount the phone ( to allow access to the lightning port on my iPhone for a microphone)?
If mounted other wide am afraid camera of the phone might capture the motor on the side, however suggest to look at Saramonic Blink500 which should be still ok to use and enable balance on this.

I'm new to gimbals but if it's balanced properly shouldn't it just return to the upright position on its own when you move it to any position and then release it - even when the gimbal is powered off?

Hi, Please help. Single click on trigger button doesn't take me to F mode. I did single click from all other modes but it never took me to F mode. I cant go to F mode at all !!. As given in manual, Long press on trigger button activates F mode and it goes back to previous mode upon releasing the trigger. The firmware version is 2.02 upgraded on 27 June 2020, The Gimbal is purchased in January 2020.. Please help to solve the problem. How to go to F mode.
Thanks for the effort. But you should alert a person to make sure that ALL the knobs are loose before beginning. Since one can go crazy trying to get that slider onto the gimbal (at the beginning) without realizing how there's a knob underneath which allows you to slide it on. Mine came tightened and I went insane trying to slide it in. Until I realized the knob underneath needed to be loosened. You'd think this is intuitive, but it's not.

@@paultsworld If you watch him carefully, you'll kinda see his thumb (1:09) reaching back there to push the silver button. That's another thing which needs to be done which he doesn't explain. It's round and kinda resembles a screw head or something like it.
The entire step was hidden in the other video he did of this crane.
Hope you fare better than I did. Returned mine. But I really wanted it to work for me.

@@paultsworld It was mainly for my smartphone and I was going insane trying to get it to move without any jitters or motor error alerts. I tried all the varying motor strength settings and I'm pretty sure it was balanced. But no matter what I did I just kept getting those alerts and that occasional jitter whilst panning.
Not to mention how the darned thing scratched my phone's screen protector. So remember when trying to balance it...be mindful of your phone's screen.

When wanting to connect, the crane-M2 does not appear. I found all the smooth product (Q, Q2, 3, 4, and other compatible stabilizer) I found the "WEEBill-S", for action cam... I have tried to connect all of them but without success.

I just got this gimbal, and surprisingly enough am using it with a Samsung S9. (not plus)Anyway, I got it to work as shown, I also watched another vid which helped with connecting another phone, like my iphone to control the gimbal. Now, how can I control the gimbal and the S9 (attached) with another phone at the same time? Is it possible? write me please.

getting this to balance with an iPhone XS Max + Moment lenses is a major pain. Such a bummer cause all the other smartphone gimbals cannot hold the weight without counterweights, and mostly the size of the phone with case bumps into motors. I was so excited about this one, but balancing is such a chore.
Suggest check out other lens brand many of them are good and lighter.

I balanced the gimbal to the iPhone. But when you said “this is the most important thing” when you move the angle of the phone to see if it stays. My phone just falls back into the place it was balanced at! Any tips?
Then its bottom heavy hold the phone flat and move it up and down till it hold it in place then you can move it and hold it place.

I have a IPhoneXr with the Moment case ..I use the Moment anamorphic lens with ND filter.. I currently own the Zhiyun Smooth 4 but I have to mount counter weights to compensate which is always a pain setting up ..My ? is what motor strength do you recommend on my M2 .? I’m really stoked to use ..I just got my m2 in the mail today and want to use the correct settings with my setup. Thank you for the awesome tutorial vids ! Keep them up ⚡️

Carlos Salas did you get it working with the phone? I have an iPhone XS Max and want to know if it will hold with moment lenses and nd filter. Also are you able to use filmic pro and still use the buttons on the gimbal? Or do you always have to use the Zhiyun app to use the controls?
Maximo Gomez I was able to use my Moment case and lenses but it was a pain to stabilize, not going to lie lol but I eventually got it. The case is pretty thick so it’ll sit a little outside the holder but it’s firm and won’t fall off. I did put the motor on medium, seem to work better. Some reason Filmic pro does recognize the M2 and it does connect but some reason it doesn’t let me use controls on the M2. I still need to troubleshoot the issue but I’m sure it’ll work. Filmic pro does pick it up so that’s the plus but just need to find the reason it’s not letting me use the controls.
Maximo Gomez I have not been able to balance it and I have this same case with the wide lens, Nd filter and counterweight system. No luck yet, it is really hard to balance smartphones with top heavy attachments even though it can handle the weight.
Would it handle the weight if the phone is in a beastcage plus a lens?

Zhiyun's application is not enough. But i couldnt use phone's camera application (I am using Huawei P30 Lite and I can set iso, shutter speed). This is bad new.
Mine did not come with that screw to attached the quick release to the phone holder?

And what if you mount a filter holder and a nd filter too? Not possible with this Gimbal
ND on a phone those are lighter than a lens. They should work
@@chungdha He is referring to adding a filter holder and a ND filter to the anamorphic lens, no instead of it

@@vrdrifter4933 I dont have those stuff to test, but it should easily work as those a fairly light and this gimbal normally can handle larger cams. But adding counterweight is quite easy if needed.

Go to the zhiyun app go to the pro cameras click on the 3 lines in the top left and then it brings a menu up and crane M2 is on it... took me forever to figure that out

Yep. I think the oneplus 7 pro is too heavy in my opinion.
Great description on balancing! This has also made me think twice about gimbals altogether , seems like way too much hassle when time is limited to shoot.
I was of the same exact opinion but trust me, it gets way much faster.

dunno about iphone, but mounted Samsung note 9 on it. Yes have timelapse feature in app.

saujan rana I have G6 Plus its phone clamp open up to 97mm. No issues with iPhone XS Max and RhinoShield case.

Had this as a potential gimbal but going to be honest the balancing process has put me off.
All gimbals have to balance even phone gimbals, but because this is meant for proper cameras it balances more precise that most phone gimbals, but once done and only use with a phone you don't need to do it again.

Balancing this gimbal with the OnePlus 7 Pro + Moment case + Moment Anamorphic + counterweight was incredibly hard. But I got it eventually.

@@MilesAndHeights Yes the footage is smooth. But the moment case and lens makes it much harder to balance than just the OnePlus 7 Pro without a case.

David van Driel shouldn’t need to use counterweights. This thing hold 700+ grams right? I’m using a snoppa Atom with Sandmarc case and wide lens - no counterweight.

I have this crane m2 with my iphone 15 pro. I want to use it all works out great. But the ZY Play app makes me suspicious when it comes to privacy. Do people freely use it? Is it necesary?? Is it trustworthy? I don't want some unknown entity to acces my entire phone and all my videos/pics??
