Review and setup of the Zhiyun Crane-M2. Zhiyun Crane-M2 is a small and portable 3-axis gimbal perfect for traveling. It is specifically designed for the lightweight cameras. You can forget about carrying around heavy, expensive gear as this gimbal is very affordable. Zhiyun Crane-M2 can hold point-and-shoot cameras, action cams, smartphones and ASP-C mirrorless cameras such as the Sony A6500 and the Fujifilm XT3, or compact cameras like the Sony Rx100
In this video I review video of the Zhiyun Crane M2, I unbox it, balance it, talk about setup, review the features and various gimbal modes (such as vortex and vertigo) and talk honestly about what I do and do not like about it.

Cool - you are the only reviewer who took the time to go over the modes properly - most other reviewers just show how to balance it al correctly. So thank you - it is rare I subscribe to a channel, but yours provides more information than others, so just clicked on the button :) I have ordered one for use with an RTX100 VII so hopefully will have more luck with vertex mode!!!

Hey Evan. The reason you had issues with vertigo mode may not be the weight of the camera, but because you neglected to balance the third axis. On the video, when you enter that mode you can see the camera rotates around excessively quickly on the base axis, which would indicate that's where the problem may be.

Thank you for this! I have only been able to get vertigo mode to work once and I honestly believe it was by chance. My Pentax X5, like yours, has the "eye peice" that bumps into the back motor and keeps you from tilting the rig downward more than about 40 degrees and this is what caused the warnings and shutdown. 10:46 I can go to Vertigo mode in my Zhiyun Crane M2 with my a6500 + 16-55 kit lens which weighs around 720 gr. I think in your case the eyepiece hits the gimbal itself. Try removing the eyepiece.
13:29 Also when you balance your camera you didn't balance the tilt axis completely by turning the camera up (lens looks up) and then balancing by shifting it on the vertical slider. I believe that is the reason of the crazy vibration (thinking that you repeated the same procedure on balancing your a6500). I know it because I had it too, due to the incomplete balance.

    Nice video!
I used it for a couple of days with my A6400. Some issues:
    1) couldn’t find the setting to control motor speed with the camera. I believe it works when you use a phone on the gimbal, so not useful for camera users. The speed in my opinion is quite slow.
    2) the plastic body can induce some serious scratches on the camera’s body especially while moving it around with the gimbal off. There is only one axis lock and the camera can become super wobbly while transporting. I have scratches on the back of my flip screen and some around the lens cover.
All in all if you’re okay with carrying a little bulkier but more robust and safer gimbal for your camera then go for the DJI ronin-SC or something in that range.

The axis lock isn't a software error. The camera is physically too large. If you look at the eyepiece of the camera, it is hitting the gimbal when it tries to roll the camera back. The axis is blocked, so the gimbal is protecting its motors.

Is your camera out of focus the whole time? The video from your girlfriend's osmo looks a lot sharper.

Forgiveable for some regular youtube content, but for a videography guy this is just weird.

Yeah, that's weird. And it's not like he's using very shallow DoF either, so focus is off quite a lot.

Hi, I noticed every time I turn it on I have to reset the motor to high power. How do I get it to stay there? Thanks, Ken
