- Here is an easy way to balance Zhiyun Crane M2S in less then 2 minutes when using a smartphone. Balancing a gimbal may seem tricky at first, but if you follow a few steps it is actually pretty simple and after a couple times you will get pretty quick with it.

My problem with this gimbal is app support. Do none of the basic phone camera functions work with the gimbal (zoom, shutter, etc)? It seems like I have to do everything from my phone

I wonder if you could also do a similar video for action cams? I ask, because I have an insta360 mounted on a Crane M2S. IMO it captures too much of the top-right side of the gimbal, so the gimbal's motor comes into the picture too quickly. I have to adjust the (360 degree) video in insta360's software, but that result in a somewhat unnatural POV.

I don't have a 360 camera at the moment so I haven't tried that yet. So far I have used a GoPro Hero 8 and there were no issues. And to balance the GoPro I did the exact same steps as in this video.
@@MikusAusters Thanks for your reply! :-) - If gather that you had no issues with the recording results on the GoPro and there was no part of the Gimbel appearing on the right side of the video? That's good to know, because that means it is an issue of the 360 degree feature in my case. I will probably have to hold the gimbal differently to get a more reasonable result. Gonna try...
Yes, it works good with the GoPro and no parts of the gimbal appear in the shot even on widest settings. But yeah... this GoPro camera is not capturing 360 degrees. Good luck!

Is there a reason why there is only one threaded hole on the phone mount? There are two holes, one threaded and one that isn't...unfortunately I need the hole that does not have any thread so that my iphone 13 pro max isn't falling over when balancing.

I don't think you can. At least I haven't done it yet.
I don’t know what’s wrong with mine but my phone won’t balance like yours. I bring it all the way forward and it’s still a little heavy, so the bottom will lean forward a little bit, so I can’t get it fully balanced. It won't stay in the same position either, it will flop either way I balance it as best I can or not.

I haven't used a 10 s max with the Crane M2S, but I also can't really figure out why you have such a hard time balancing it. That's strange.
I don't know if its the same problem as mine, but I flip the clip so the weight of the phone is more front, at the cost of having the clip crossing the screen :(

It has Portrait mode (P) for vertical shooting.

@@coffeesniffer Thats strange. 🤔 I don't have the st-08 on hand, but from the photos online it looks quite similar to st-02s.

The Crane M2S has a mode for shooting vertical - it is called "portrait".
