    For this project, I used Prismacolor colored pencils after the woodburning. I also applied Liquitex Basics acrylic paint with a wash brush #11, filbert #9, filbert #4, liner 2, and liner 5/0.

    A rotary tool with thin bit to do whiskers on animals on pyrography works great, the guy who shared the video used to do what you did at first, hope this helps.

    That is an excellent job, Minisa. I purchased your Woodburning Realistic Animals book from Amazon and received it today. Your book is also an excellent book for anyone interested in pyrography. Thanks for sharing this video with us.

    Hi Minisa. Hope all is going smoothly in your household. You said you were always looking for other methods for making whiskers. Well, I cheat a little and use a Dremel tool with a very sharp-pointed bit to make whiskers. I have tried watercolor pencil and didn't care much for the results (I did not try acrylics and should). Great video. You always make it look so much easier than it really is. You know I love your work and this one is no exception.

    Thanks for a very enjoyable and informative video. I haven't had chance to do much woodburning recently but hope to get going again soon and will definately have a play around with the acrylic paints. I do agree with some of the other comments that you do make it look easy - you do have a lot of skill !! Can you bottle some of that for me !! Please keep the videos coming - they are very helpful.

    Thank you for your video; amazing work. I do have a question.....if the acrylic paint is used on bare wood without primer first, will it stay adhered over time? Do you use some sort of finish over top? Thank you

      Thank you. Yes, the paint has stayed quite well. I do add three coats of waterbased Polycrylic after the project is complete. I hope this helps!

    Beautiful tutorial & easy to follow and understand. Question - what is recommended to seal the piece that won’t cause the paint to run?

    Hi, I know this video has been up for a couple years, but I just came across it and I wanted to ask …..after applying the prismacolor premium wax-based pencils to your woodburning piece, like you did…. What do you use as a final seal for the piece ..?
    I’ve had good luck in the past with polycrylic, Matt or satin brush on finishes, but I was wondering what you would seal this tiger piece you did with …?
    Would Polycrylic ‘spray’ semi-gloss work as a first coat and then the brush on after..or is the polycrylic (water-based) not compatible with the prismacolor pencils?

    I am looking to add primer to my pinewood so that I can easily paint it with acrylics. However, the pinewood will also have a wood burned design. Would you recommend using primer and then starting the wood burning design? Or should I first carry out the wood burning design and then avoid covering it in primer.

    • @WoodBurningUniversity
      @WoodBurningUniversity  Před rokem

      I strongly recommend that you create the wood burning design first and then add the primer for the color. If you burn over the top of a primer, finish, clear coat, pigment, etc. you can be exposed to potentially dangerous fumes. Please burn on unfinished wood only for health reasons. I hope this helps!

    Do you have a list of the colours? I just bought some prismacolors and would to print what you used. Thank you I tried burning on paper and colours didn’t show! The paper went shiny and wouldn’t pick up the pigment of pencil colours
