How to Cook the Perfect Rice Every Time!

- SAVE THIS FOR THE NEXT TIME YOU MAKE RICE!
•2 cups rice, I prefer using long grain basmati
•4 cups water (if you need measurements)
•1 tsp salt
•1 tsp avocado oil
1️⃣Place your rice in a stockpot & rinse it 6-10 times until the water runs clear.
2️⃣Add enough COLD water to cover the rice from the tip of your fingernail, to the bottom of your fingertip (video shows you).
3️⃣Add salt & oil, bring to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat to low, cover with a lid and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
4️⃣Fluff with a fork.
Rinse 2 to 3 times. Add enough water to come to first line on your middle finger while touching the rice. I learned from my Mexican grandma.
The "first line in the middle finger" dont work all the time. That will only work at a certain amount of rice like maybe 3-6 cups (like for a family), less or more than that you'll need to adjust. She cooked like just a cup, it will need less water. Or use a cup, just add an equal amount of water to your rice plus a quarter cup for evaporation, perfect rice everytime.
@@jha.681 yeah I tried it for 1 cup and it was way to wet😅
@@sinbad8562 same 😂
W grandma
In south india its "battesar" , just its second line of middle finger
Wash 6 to 8 times...
That was me when I cooked rice the first time when I was 8 years old, and no. 🙃
u have ecoli
you for real? you won't get anything from once or twice washed rice. you're cooking it you know?@@lettucetim
@@ssncns tell that to the coroner. Mattafact put it on yo headstone mf.
@@lettucetimwashing it is only for conscience. in reality, if there was anything on it, you couldn't get rid of it.
knowing this, just dont rinse it at all.
make sure you buy from a clean place, that is the only thing that matters! in a country with proper regulations, that should be easy
If i don't thoroughly wash my white rice it gives me bad heart burn from the excess starch@@tanko.reactions176
Just cooked my husband dinner using your recipe and he LOVES it! Told me best rice he has ever had! Thank you ❤
If you put oil or broth before cooking rice, you need to reduce the among of water. Because the oil would make water vapor slower, if you don't, your rice will get wet.
Ppl r just crazy delusional making their own shlt and believing what they want to believe... Its not about water evaporation thats making it not wet its about water absorption by the starch in rice.. If we correct use your delusion logic it would not actually evporate the water slower but instead making it evaporate faster since oil gets very hot
Tips! ❤
1. Washing rice
- “Knead” a handful of rice while moving your hand around in circular motion when washing it. Rinse once the water turns REALLY milky.
- After the 3rd wash if you can “visibly” see the rice then that should be fine. 6-8 times are just inefficient, 2-3 on average, but no more than 4.
- Washing rice will make the excessive flour that was coated on the rice came off quicker. Tastes better imo too.
2. Cooking rice
- I recommend using *hot water.* It’s life changing and super efficient - especially for those who use microwave rice cooker. I pretty much finished washing rice once the kettle got off so no waiting time at all!
- Either use the pinky knuckle rules or follow the water ratio, they all depends on your equipment so good luck! (Yes i numb my pinky in cold water then dip it in hot water lol)
- Once your rice is cooked, flip & mix it around to *let most of the steam out,* let it cool for a bit. This way it will be less soggy and last longer!
uncle roger is not happy
😂
thnaks for the help
i was clueluess!
Should i summon uncle Roger? xD
yasssssss
Yessir!!
Why? She is making basmati, it will release starch this way
No, she cooked it perfectly, rice police.
Yes please we need to see what he thinks
Thanks. I had to press the save to playlist button 3 or 4 times before it would work - CZcams is very buggy lately.
Thank you☺️
Use that water for your HAIR. REGROWTH, thickening , strengthening, shiny, bounce back in your hair remineralize your hair. Hair n scalp
wow!! great idea. thank you!!!
Thanks going to try fast time
6 to 8 times 😑. It's such a waste of water. Just clean it 2 time or 3. This is enough to make the rice clean enough to eat
“Such a waste of water 🤓🥛”
I think that's for when you're dieting because it lessens the starch, but I don't know how much of an impact that makes if you're still eating a massive bowl of rice.

Loved the video can’t wait to see 👀the emergency kit video on Monday and all the other back to school videos coming ❤❤ can’t wait 😁
I'm sorry but that does not look fluffly
Simple and quick
Thanks love!!
The thumpnail scared me i thought you were washing the rice with dishsoap 💀
I think it worked for me🎉
The rice looked uncooked! In a hurry to make the video?
Didn’t let it rest
That rice looked absolutely disgusting and hard🤣
Perfect
wow genius
In India, we prefer draining the water as it is full of starch. We also make in this particular way (boiling and the let the rice soak water) but the former is much more preferred for a healthy diet (by removing the excess starch). Also, such type of rice is exactly the same in texture and taste.
And you can drink it with some coconut milk and sweetner ❤
Adding oil and salt is illegal
Me watching it while eating rice 👁👄👁
6-8 times???
This rice looks pretty good, what kind is it?😅
6 TO 8?! YOU JUST HAVE TO WASH IT 3 TIMES 😂
Thanks....works perfectly!
Do not need to wash more then three times
im told to not rinse too much that the water turns clear 😂😂 2 or 3 is sufficient
6 to 8 times sounded like 68 times 💀
omg can you imagine? just washing rice for 4 hours straight lol
Wait did it matter of what bowl you have to use to put the rice in and boil it
HIPPIE RECIPE!!!!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me an Asian: oh good lord
true best rice is steaming white rice which only requires water to cook the rice, no oil or anything else. which is why I use a rice cooker which you can easily find in asian markets. there is always a measure line in the pot of your rice cooker white rice require the amount water written on the measurement line you need the exact amount of water as the amount of rice for 1 cup of rice fill the rice with water until you hit the one cup mark on the white rice measurement of the rice cooker bowl, and the rice cooker will usually take 30 minutes to cook the rice until it is steaming hot, and will feel a bit sticky so that you can easily pick up that rice with your chopsticks..
very good
Hey beautiful friend, I’m your new subscriber😊 I used to cooked in rice cooker and I tried this way but I messed up😢my rice was too soft and idk what to do…
How to make rice in cooker
Last time I made fluffy rice whatever it’s called u just litteraly use a rice cooker and move it around with chopsticks
not everyone has a rice cooker! this is great for those without that!
3 times is enough :
Guys everyone tags Uncle Roger
My ancestors are disappointed 😞
She wouldn’t need to clean the rice a lot of she had a reverse osmosis water filter system or water pumped from underneath since that’s the best type of water anyone in a city can consume.
For a moment there I thought they said gold water lol
lol!
Without watching the video, this woman looks and sounds like the last person id trust to teach me how to make rice
😂 i hate to say i agree. It's too easy. I so wanted to believe this was a thing and a hack 😂
youre quick to judge buddy! im full persian & rice is literally in my blood
She's good I trust her. I tried it and it works God bless you girl ❤🙏
How do you make it with rice cooker again?
same thing - just in a rice cooker! press on! about 50 minutes if you want crispy rice!
@@JazzLeaf 👍
Look it’s 1-2 ratio w/ any rice. 1cup rice - 2cups water.
1.Bring your water to a boil
2.Pour rice in
3.Place lid
4.Set timer to 20min
This is a bad take, sorry viewers.
Just to add,
The ratio is depending on the kind of rice grains.
Here in Asia there are lots.
There are 1:1 ratio kind and 1:1.5 or 2 kind of rice.
^^like the previous reply said, it depends on the kind of rice. I usually put more water in short grain rice and less in long grain rice
Your ratio is wrong. This doesn't apply to any kind of rice. SORRY KIDDO. GO HOME NOW AND LEARN SOMETHING. 😂🎉
Reduce to low heat after placing the lid***
You should measure the rice first then add water that double the height of the rice.
It depends on the type of rice.
Lady you don't rinse all the dust out. Leave some it adds flavor
Rinse your rice in cold water with a caullender
I wash mine 6-8. Some day 2-3 but water still be filled with starch
Thanks im gonna cook after 1 day i mean tommorow bye
My Asian self: no🤓
Everysingle person cooks rice differently
This gurl learnt cooking rice from ohio
mmm nah , she looks middle eastern/southern asian. They cook their rice perfectly.
@@BrunO-lj8ys Your brain left the chat

It looks like normal rice
You only rinse the rice to make it clean and rinse it only two times to make it clean.
I think not madame
WHY THE AVOCADO OIL?
I always add oil!

Chineese do this but with rice cooker, not pots. Your rice look half cooked.
In my country we call that Shelly rice nothing fluffy about it
It aint supposed to be wet
No rice cooker..
no rice cooker needed!
Or you could just use a rice cooker, they’re pretty dang cheap
Totally agree!
It only cooks does not prepare it
Save Water Also
Thats basmati, u should drain the rice. A lot of varieties in India needs to be drained.
Most varieties in the world- the way u do is good
No you don’t drain it I can tell you can’t cook I cook rice all the time and I never drained it. The people who do can’t cook lol 😂
@@gemmaloveseveryone5854 you don't wash your rice ?????
@@gemmaloveseveryone5854 Rice is a staple diet of indians and we prefer draining the water after the rice is completely cooked. It’s bcs the water is full of starch and we remove the excess starch to make our rice healthier. And it is exactly the same in texture and taste but just a bit more healthier
Ps: if you are cooking rice this way all the time, believe me, you are gonna get obese very soon.
@@apoorvabhatnagar6903 I been cooking rice for 30 year you wash it then cook it never drain it. Your rice must be hard as rock
@@gemmaloveseveryone5854 you wash the rice thoroughly, then soak it in water and boil it. After that, drain the water. You may try once. They are soft as cotton. This is being said by an Indian who eats Basmati Rice at least 4 to 5 times a week.
No oil. No rinsing. Should work otherwise. 😊
That rice came out wet asf
Maybe just needed some rest time 10’mins sounds good
10 minutes the bag says 20
YOU PUT OIL?!!!?!
family has always put oil in our rice. makes it so flavorful!

I JUST BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN
You don’t have to rinse it that much
My son tried this. He ate one single grain of rice prepared this way and died later that night. Becareful of who you take advice on the Internet.
Asians relax ffs.

Use a rice cooker
6-8 is the perfect way to waste water
The finger nail trick won't work for everybody. You have not seen my severely chewed nails. I only have about 3 mm of nails lol
🤣about 1/2 an inch is a good place to start!
68 times 🤔🤔
Omg. No. Rice is white and starchy. So white water will keep coming till there is no rice. Wash it 2-3 times.
