The Elder Scrolls VI (working title) is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It will be the sixth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following 2011's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The game is scheduled to be released for Windows and Xbox consoles.
The project is led by game director Todd Howard, reprising his duties from previous games in the series, as well as other games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. The Elder Scrolls VI will be the second game developed on the studio's in-house engine, Creation Engine 2, following Starfield (2023). The game entered pre-production by 2018, formally being announced during Bethesda's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 conference. The game entered active production in 2023 following Starfield's completion and launch.

Fans will create the entire planet of Nirn through Skyrim mods before ES:VI comes out.
☝🏽This is accurate
And will probably do a better job.
Of course. What would be surprising is if they didn't.
Shit, fans will make Akavir in its entirety before TES 6 comes out.
The Beyond Skyrim teams are doing pretty well so far so its very possible lol
I remember watching videos like this 10 years ago thinking “its gotta be out by 2018 at the latest right?” Lol
The pain we all feel. At least they've started proper development now and we know it'll be their next game
Yeah I remember the valenwood and nukaworld leaks
Hopefully in 2026 🥲
Exactly, they better made tes6 than starfield
@@Jason-hl2wy tbh, I feel it's fine for it to be release more later than that as the video have stated that Bethesda had only started on the development of it 6 months ago and I'm the guy that doesn't like rushed games so we should give them a little more time at least.
Wasted so much resources and time making starfield
And coming off of 76, no less? Not great.
Yep not looking good
Maybe they will learn from the mistakes of Starfield and give us a better TES6 🤷♂️
I found that starfield is a pretty fun game if you take it on without any expectations.

When Skyrim came out I was blown away and played non-stop for months. At the time I would have never guessed how long it would take for them to even attempt creating it’s successor. It was their most successful game ever at the time. Insane it has taken this long.

What we know: (1) Most of the senior staff have already left and have no interest in the project. (2) The ones who remain are Todd Howard which refused to do any advancement on any aspect of the engine and the Head writer who... wrote Starfield... nuf said. (3) Microsoft refuses to get involved which means no new advancements. So, personally, I'm not expecting a release worth mentioning.
It's not going be to half as fleshed out as skyrim and that was unfinished. Starfield blows and look how long that was in production.

What I hope for ES6
1- 16 times the detail
2- take out all the npcs, make it multiplayer. Other players ARE the npcs
3- live service
4- lower the frame rate to about 25-30 fps
5- please keep some of the bugs and glitches from previous Bethesda games to keep its charm
6- I only want the game to be about 75% finished upon release date so the modders can finish the game for Bethesda at a later date
7- give me a voiced protagonist with less dialogue options and more illusions of choice rather than actual decision making
8- let me pay more money for a premium edition so I can play 2 days earlier
9- take no responsibility for any issues the game has and just blame the player base
10- instead of pc and council release just give me a mobile game

It would be nice if Todd could bring over some of the writers from ZOS and Obsidian. I feel like they do a better job writing these kinds of games than Bethesda.

After fallout 76 and starfield I almost dont want them to release ES VI... I cant imagine a world in which this game comes out and its not absolutely trash
The only hope I can see is that Microsoft will put pressure on them to put something better out. Microsoft has a reputation for being real demanding about stuff (even though they haven't always put great stuff out themselves). I could see them looking at complaints and working forward from there. Not saying it will be, but it *could* be.
Yeah, I feel the same way
People have been extremely clear on what they think about FO76 in particular and there's little doubt that it was a commercial failure... I think there's definitely a world or two in which Bethesda takes a fresh approach after that kind of feedback. If they ARE willing to take a fresh approach then it becomes easier to see how different approaches could lead to a quality game with an IP as flexible and deep as TES. ESO has some problems but new storylines and settings are none of them.
I remember some guy went on a ten-thousand-word rant about how he knew GTA4 was going to take place in London before it came out, citing all kinds of information.
I don’t pay much attention to hearsay or rumours this “far” into development.
Fantasy land... some minds thrive there.
tbf that's the only time TO rant since any further along and it will just be known through leaks or sloppy teasers
I think my last hope is that Bethesda go back to handcrafting everything, like they're known for. I understand why they went down the procedual generation route with Starfield, but to me, the whole magic of Bethesda game's is in the organicness of exploration. Like entering a tomb, and there'd be a corpse with an axe in his back, and a wriiten note. You'd then pick up that note and it would give you a quest further into a dungeon. Or reading a book about Red Eagle you found randomly, and then actually visiting his tomb and fighting him. That to me is what Bethesda's all about.
I much prefer the handcrafted stuff too
Oblivions landscape and dungeons were pretty much procedural generation. But yeah! Skyrim set a bar for the next game
I know it wont happen, but I really hope we get Valenwood.
Valenwood would be amazing!
Never say never.
Yes please, i love gigantic trees
I hoped for the same, but seeing that rocky landscape in the short promo i would say Highrock is far more likely at this point.
I was hoping for High Rock :D.
I would love for the next game to take place in High Rock because as someone who plays a Breton I just want to see our homeland!
Just play daggerfall then, its got all of the High Rock you need!
We already have Daggerfall.
Hey, I think you're cute, and playing games just made you 100x more attractive for me :'D
Damn, Imma be 30 when the game comes out 😭Still remember watching the trailer 6 years ago, sucks they didn't make this instead of starfield.
Clear and informative. Great editing. Great video! your videos deserve more views
The Elder Scrolls used to be my favorite game series and overall game universe since Morrowind. Unfortunately, I've lost all faith in Bethesda to provide a game worth playing. I'm much mote excited for Avowed from Obsidian, which will not only arrive sooner but most probably be a whole lot better than whatever Bethesda jumbles together in ES6
I hope they really take the time and care to make something good
With every showcase of avowed my interest in it wanes.
I did initially see it as a potential competitor to TES, but i can't anymore.
Admittedly i have bias against obsidian for a roundabout reason of
FNV's fanbase being rather distasteful. But even that aside, neither FNV nor outer worlds have been "bethesda killers".
FNV aside, there's nothing out there that strikes quite the same feeling as BGS RPGs due, with all the issues around them, the overall experience is really a thing of it's own.
@RangerGeorge don't get your hopes up.
avowed looks terrible
Im more excited for skywind and skyblivion than anything Bethesda is working.
They're also pretty exciting projects!
hell yeah, both projects look awesome, Skywind for me though.
skywind! skywind!
@@user-ip6wq7vr7m Same, Current Vanilla Oblivion looks great on PC at 4K. Morrowind...not so much. And Morrowind doesn't even support widescreen 1080p format either.
I was 23 when Skyrim came out. I'll be pushing forty when it's successor comes out. Dang.
I think Hammerfell would be a good location for ES6. It's only a bit larger than the lands of Skyrim and would provide more than enough room for vanilla content. Expansions into High-Rock, back into Skyrim, or into Western Cyrodiil could come later or with mods. I feel like it's going to be Hammerfell aswell because there were a lot of dialogue with redguards in Skyrim about the current internal strife taking place in their country with the Empire, the Redguard factions, and of course the Thalmor that now occupy the southern coast.
I could also be wrong and they could try and bite off more than they could chew and give us Cyrodiil, Hammerfell, and High-Rock. I feel like we will get to play through the conclusion to the Thalmor wars in ES6, and that war would be more than just a local conflict like the Skyrim Civil War. I just hope they do it well whatever they decide. They've set up the 2nd Great War really well in Skyrim, would be a shame to slip and fall at the finish line.
I hope ES6 is good it would be disappointing and embarrassing for Bethesda to just botch their favorite child. They should just go back to design documents and get better writers. I’m sure Bethesda has seen what the community said about Emil especially since Emil commented on what people have been saying about his writing.
They did Cyrodil already in Oblivion.
@@TheUnseenPathJust a part of cyrodil. Just like how we visit morrowind in skyrim
It’s going to be a section of the daggarfall map. The top left corner specifically.
I don't know I'm happy to hear that it's only been in development for 6 months now. Maybe that way Bethesda can learn from the utter mess that is Starfield and maybe - for a change - NOT repeat their mistakes. I know that's hell of a lot of copium but a boy can dream.
I think Starfield was too ambitious, like 76. But like that game I feel they will largely try and fix the issues present. They need to downsize the scale of what they're working on
It entirely depends what you mean by "development"
Because if you take everything into account, TES6 has been in development since before skyrim released, when they were creating an overarching story of tamriel, taking future events when designing skyrim.
And of course you know there have been assets shown well before starfield released.
So naturally the assumption is "the primary project in development", in which case yes.
It's about making money in the smallest time frame with the least amount of expenditure. All games are like that and it's not going to change. These guys get on stage and outright lie to 1000s of fans. Once you're owned by a megacorp, artistic integrity and backlash from fans is the last thing that matters.
This specific game keeps you immersed in it honestly, after beating the first version it felt like i needed to do some more stuff lol
I've lost a lot of anticipation for ES:VI after Starfield, but part of me is still hoping for the best
Let's see what happens, maybe they'll bring it back for their best franchise
@@RangerGeorge I hope so. I think ES:VI is going to make or break their future. If they flop this one then I can see it being over for a lot of fans
@@zachcollins4368 You're 100% right. This is such an important moment for the studio, they have to get it right
Your Optimism is better than mine.
I will be pushing 40 by the time this game comes out. Skyrim was released during my freshman year in college…dear god
Great video. Firstly, Todd Howard in the Lex interview said it's going to be in Tamriel, unless he was throwing a curve ball, no akavir 😢 I was really hoping for Akavir. Secondly, the trailer for es6 shows iliac bay to the right, which would make the land hammerfell. Also, in eso, that part of Hammerfell looks very similar to the trailer. I'm guessing the story will be based around the Direnni Tower and the thalmor, so maybe it's highrock as well. And if it is Hammerfell, hopefully a Yokuda dlc? Ty for a great video.
Thank you ! I would really like a game exploring Hammerfell, High Rock and Orsinium! Great observations!
They need to nail this release. You're spot on, we'd all much prefer a smaller but hand-crafted experience with the attention to detail Skyrim had - we don't need the game to be 100 hours for it to be exceptional. They can always make DLCs but that will heavily depend on how successful the launch is.
Damn I was 17 when skyrim was released and I’ll be 32 when the next one comes out 😢
So the trailer shows the coastline of Hammerfell. So my guess is that its going to take place there. But I really hope that it isn't just that country alone cause that will be very boring walking around a desert/rocky desert. I hope that they put Highrock and Hammerfell together and possibly some of the High isles as DLC later on. Cause 15 years of waiting and we get a desert right after Starfield space desert simulator. oof
Im currently playing Skyrim right now and this is the most ive been hooked to a game since RDR2 and now i hope i get to experience ES6 in my lifetime. This game is beautiful
Judging by the short preview in 2018 the sixth game must be massive! Can’t wait! 😁
That short trailer had absolutely nothing to do with the game. They made that specifically for E3. It doesn't exist. They weren't even in pre-production during that E3. It was simply something they used to hype up the crowd. Absolutely no part of the game world actually existed.
The biggest problems with recent games has been rushing an unfinished product. I say let them take their sweet time and give us a masterpiece.
Like Starfield? This approach obviously doesn’t work. I can’t believe how many times I heard this.
I was 12 when Skyrim came out. I’m 27 now. Cmon bro
We'll see how it goes, we got plenty of time to think about the game ^^ But having ships would be awesome honnestly.
Also releasing the Creation Kit for Starfield would be nice, but I'm afraid it's gonna take a while
Hey there, this is first video ive watched of yours. Love the content. People can say what they want about starfield (negatively), and i would probably agree with a lot of them. But as a video idea, maybe talk about the creation E 2's new mechanics and how bethesda could use the new tech for ES6. An example is ship customization or deeper RPG mechanics. Just food for thought. Great video! I subbed and liked.
Thanks Nathaniel. That's a great idea, thank you for the suggestion
I feel like they teased tes6 at a perfect time. I remember seeing Todd walk out on that E3 stage like a rockstar and announced it alongside Fallout76 and Starfield. Everyone lost their shit to all three announcements, which made sense as Bethesdas hype was at an all time high before Fallout76 stomped it out
But today? After Fallout76 and Starfield, hell without E3, if they teased tes6 this year or next year I feel like most people wouldn't be as excited. People are already showing concern for this game we're probably not seeing for another five years
we all have a very good reason to be worried....pretty obvious as to why.
tbf if FO76 and Starfield were actually good it'd be seen as one of the best announcements ever.
Sucks that things turned out this way, from an outside perspective it really seems obvious what to do. Move on from creation engine or fix it's most glaring flaws, the loading screens and clunkiness. Write NPCs and quests like in new vegas. Write lore like in morrowind. Give modders the tools to expand the game.
Any time bethesda screw up it's plain and clear why it's bad. Seems like there's some major directing issues, maybe corporate greed?
Elder scrolls vi is probably going to release on ps5 (or 6 at this rate) as seen by microsofts recent change in plans. They know full well they will make more money from cross platform games than they will from exclusive console sales, especially considering that these companys sell their consoles at a near loss.
I have a feeling it could launch as an exclusive then come out eventually on PS5, similar to some PS games coming to PC.
Microsoft is trying to build a good range of exclusive games to help rival Sony’s and drive Xbox sales which is fair. The issue is, mega franchises (which already pre-existed on other platforms) should not be exclusive, they will severely damage their profits and harm the community. PS is a larger platform, and now has a modding community too.
The footage is definitely Elderscrolls online...I've seen enough videos to recognize the scenes. But it's still cool. I wish there was a full length feature movie.
For how long it's been I still just want Skyrim with multiplayer that works
nothing against you but it’s funny how i have watched some variation of this exact video dozens of times since like 2015 and the only thing that has changed is the title announcement which was like 6 years ago
Well there's a couple of new things, like how development has officially begun, Todd Howard's regret around announcing it too early etc. Although there's not been gameplay there has certainly been updates surrounding it
two things I hope happen 1 we are given info and gameplay before its launch. 2 they take time to make a good game. I want to find ONE person who is genuinely as loving of starfield as a skyrim fan.
Hope we all still alive to see its release stay strong and healthy everyone
Baldurs Gate 3 revitalized fantasy gaming. Elder Scrolls 6 has a ways to go in order to top that.
I hope what we get is where the player character is more grounded in powers,so far we’ve had chat that have either became gods or a semi god I would just like to be able to have a game as a “civilian” with a more open path for role playing opportunities, and rich lore. Personally I think the next elder scrolls game should be focused around all races and factions of Tamriel uniting against a common threat like the second invasion of Tamriel. I think it would be awesome becuase it opens roots for rich lore and role playing opportunities, and we can have access to new races from akavir
Thanks!
I wish Todd would call up Chris Roberts (CIG) and look into a planet.
I wasn’t expecting to see an es6 video for another 3 years at least
I hope you get to play during the 2nd great war where a team of Morrowind, Hammerfell, Cyrodill (Imperial Remnants), Skyrim (Under the Stormcloak Dynasty), and Black Marsh all gang up on the Aldmeri Dominion and wipe them out! Lisa Pendse, Vice President of marketing for Quantic Dream, told IGN during a recent interview at the Tokyo Game Show that while the studio wants people to know this is an action-adventure game, it will still have ''all of the elements that you would come to expect and want from a Quantic Dream title," including ''intricately branching narratives'' and the ability to play as different characters. Another key element is that no matter how badly you screw up or who dies, the games story will keep on continuing.
Todd Howard and The Elder Scrolls 6 Team should introduce this feature into the Elder Scrolls 6, but they should also tweak this feature up a bit so even the main character can die and the protagonist can die and the story will end there and that will be game over. Once it's game over a new story will start with a newly created character and the player can create whoever they want and forget the vanilla main storyline.
That means once it's game over that the player can continue the game and do whatever they want without any disturbances and forget the vanilla main quest line.
That means the player can play by their own rules and ethics and can even break the game like they could in Elder Scrolls 1: Arena and Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall.
This feature should be a non essential feature in both the vanilla start and the alternate start. In the vanilla start the player has to be whoever they decide they are and they should bring back a feature from Elder Scrolls 1: Arena that lets the player abandon the main quest line and turn down the quest given by the quest giver. That means the player can run away from their destiny just like in Elder Scrolls 1: Arena.
Everything should be non essential just like in the Elder Scrolls 1: Arena including quests and quest items and Everyone should be non essential including children and quest givers.
Another feature they should include is the feature from Daggerfall where the player can talk to deadra, including deadra minions, deadra followers, deadric princes and deadric gods.
This could lead to taking quests from all kinds of deadra including side quests. Taking these quests from all kinds of deadra and completing them can lead to getting rewards upon completing them.
I think that could be a really interesting idea. One of my favourite Skyrim mods was live another life and just having entire playthroughs without touching the main quest content, having this in the base game as an option would be a massive improvement.
imo the whole branching story thing is kindof a meme, it's too difficult. the only games that pull that off are story-focused games like detroit become human.
Do you think it will be available on switch?
I doubt it launch but as with PS it's always possible it will come one day. Although I imagine if it did it'll be whatever the next switch is for Nintendo

I feel like I haven’t seen anyone say that a simplified version of chivalry 2’s combat would work well for es6. The slightly more physics based elements of it that means your sword actually has to collide with the enemy and offers control over your swing, which gives all of the weight and feeling like you are hitting something that people ask for every time it gets brought up. The best part is that it’s easy and instantly fun unlike other more complex first person systems that have a massive learning curve. It doesn’t need to have every feature but at least a solid block, swing and stab move set with proper collision. It plays well on controller as well as mouse and keyboard and just seems like the best way forward. If they are going to update fallout’s gunplay, it would be nice if they kept up with modern melee combat too.

I was really impressed by how nice and well written game Elder Scrolls 5 were... The main story line and the side quest were really impressive. I loved the game the day i started playing i used to play it in my cousins laptop. I wish i could play Elder Scrolls 6 but i don't know if i could even play it in my PC and i hope i will be able to buy a better PC by the time it releases. I definitely would love it if ES6 will also be able to be played in a low end PC so that i would have to spend money on buy a better PC😂
I'm a big fan of the Skyrim quests too, I like the nordic feel and the progression with learning dragon shouts
Bethesda should jsut make elder scrolls and fallout one after the other. I know that tends to be bad for companies to do that but this is what we want. We dont want anything new we want more fallout and elder scrolls. Starfield robbed us of so much dev time
I just hope it's a good game, and is as moddable as Skyrim LE. I'm looking forward to it, but I'd like for the developers to be given as much time as they need to make sure it's right. Don't rush it to release, if it takes a year or two longer to get it right, fans can live with the delay.
I'd be ok with some remakes after for Morrowind, Daggerfall and Oblivion as well after ES6 but that'as asking a lot.
Well we'll at least get skyblivion soon!

1:45 this is very much likely changing. Im 100% sure by the time ES6 comes out, Starfield will be released on PS5/6. Heck its likely Starfield will come out with the 2nd Starfield DLC if it ever does release.
Things have changed very recently with microsoft and xbox as a whole
What do they do during those 5 years in pre production? It must've playable
They were working on Starfield
I heard Todd was playing chess or something
I re-played Skyrim and Fallout 4 dozens of times. I played Starfield once and likely won’t go back to it.
Almost 15 years waiting ☠💀
Man it not being released on ps is a bummer
I hope it’s set in hammerfell and high rock .
Highrock is super small by itself.
It will be all of Tamriel with randomly generated terrain. Just like Arena!
True, let's hope there's both of them
Looks like ill be getting an xbox just for this game
Lets hope the new engine will be in good use for the developers.
Im hoping for Bethesda games without many bugs and glitches for once
They can take all the time they like, I still play skyrim till this day, I don't mind waiting another 2 years as long as they give us another skyrim.
Skyrim is a really fun game
@@RangerGeorge incredible my good friend. So much playability.😎
2 years? LOL ha ha, they just started ES6 and 250 developers as of right now are still working on Starfield DLC and updates. ES6 isn’t coming for 5-6 years and I’m sure some virus or natural disaster will delay it, we will all be gone before it’s out.
@@charlieb308 lmaoo oh well..
@@gravitydivide2576 it will probably release and I’ll have a heart attack on way to buy it lol. I’m old as dirt, near death, probably croak soon.
i think elder scrolls 6 wil be best game of all time. I have feeling it will be both huge and compact. Im thinking 2x skyrim but entire empire. But each area will almost be like entirely different map. All connected. Also think they add more role playing stuff, like houses, fishing, hunting, etc.
All I know about elder scrolls 6 is that I’ll be dead before it comes out cuz Todd is scared of hiring employees
I just want it in VR like Skyrim. There is something to be said about being in the elder scrolls world rather than see it in 2d on a computer monitor. I play both Skyrim and Fallout in VR.
