Clay Turner The practices of these companies have not changed much. Nephew completed his certified welding classes at a local college; when a company hired him as an apprentice welder - he was only used as their slave boy - no welding. And they wonder why they cannot find skilled workers today.

New welders should visit welding forums which will not only answer their basic questions but cover many advanced questions in detail. The first thing to learn is how to use available resources. Videos are good for watching welding techniques, but the limitations of speech vs. text (and linked resources) make welding forums the best of the two options. There's no reason not to use both. For questions you need answered forums will give more detail and variety of info than videos.
Lincoln posts manuals on their website which are very useful when buying a used machine. Many Lincolns from the 1930s are still welding today.

Watched this for a few minuted, hit Pause and went to Amazon to snag a copy of "New Lessons in Arc Welding - Fourth Edition" (2007 printing). Is that the most current one as of 2017 or is it at least close enough? Looking forward to getting in to this stuff!
Regarding this video: There are two issues that I noted.
    1. In two places in Section 5 the music level comes up and the voiceover level goes down, with the end result being two long sections where the narration is nearly inaudible. I had to listen to these two sections twice to really get what was being taught because the music was distracting due to the alterations to the sound mix.
    2. When you show clipping the stick-out for flux core all is well, but when the actor clips the stick-out for MIG the brass nozzle is in place during the procedure until he goes to cut the wire, then suddenly the gun has the flux core tip black nozzle installed. Probably want to edit that part as it is confusing. I had to back it up to see what was up.
Otherwise an excellent video. I Liked and Subbed and will be watching all your videos that pertain to my particular model.
    Thanks!

Hey - at 18:30, the video has the Flux tip on the gun, but the audio says "install the copper or brass welding nozzle to the gun."
Am I missing something? I am new to this, so I would appreciate knowing what is right.

I am new too and you're right. That is not the flux copper/brass tip, which is larger diameter and I see a donut-like air space that lets the gas flow around the wire. Thanks for pointing at it. I would not bother fixing the video though. The audio is correct.

I see many of the welders here on youtube hold the stick electrode with their free hand to steady the stick. Is that a safe practice and why do they not receive a shck? Thank you from a newbie

Jeff DeLuca the spark is only ignited when when the wire coming out of the tip makes contact with the metal that’s grounded

Mine wont start wire correctly. I have to pull the gun assembly out of the welder then put the wire through then put it back in then bolt it back down. Does anyone know how to fix this?

What is the part number for the Drive Roll shown at 9:12 in the video. I have the same Lincoln Pro Mig 140 with the unscrewed black knob to remove the drive roll. I'm replacing my gun, and drive roll due to wear and wire feed issues.

Why don't you guys make a comprehensive video on the LE31MP? It's almost like you aren't really promoting that machine.
