There is a serious flaw in the video. First if it’s fully discharged the old acid is buried in the plates . He drained out mostly water and little acid. When he puts fresh acid in and then charge the battery, the acid will get too strong from the discharged plates as they are leaching out acid from the recharging plates back into the electro light! When the acid gets too strong, it will break the plates down faster. He should charge the battery with old electrolyte first and use a hygrometer to verify what the acid strength is . A shorted cell will not charge properly at all as the hygrometer would not read 1.28 or better in that bad cell.
The coke neutralized the acid or should i say reacted with acid on the plates.
I believe the point was to neutralize with Coke first. Not just dump and refill asap with acid.

Know a guy who started a business selling reconditioned batteries and recap tires to service stations in the sixties. He has 20 stores now all over south Florida. Junkyards used to do this ,back in the day. The old batteries back then were much more robust and used higher quality materials.

Во время работьі АКБ активная масса осьіпается на дно , и потому АКБ нельзя переворачивать вверх дном , активная масса забивается между пластинами , что приводит к саморазряду , и даже к короткому замьіканию !

Груша с тонким кембриком (шланг) вариант , но очень тяжело до дна достать . Легче просвелить отверствие у самого дна , заливая сверху дистилят, хорошо промьіть банки АКБ . Отверствия закрьіть смолой и лентой для удаления течи .
Применять короткое сверло , дабьі не повредить пластиньі . Следует также помнить , что осьіпашиеся пластиньі не восстанавливаются , емкость снижается .
@@alexboy2772 тогда, надо знать конструкцию батареи, и сверлить, не промахиваясь, в углу каждой банки, чтобы наклоняя батарею, промывать её содовым раствором. В таком случае, получим чистую банку (если там не будет больших фракций свинца). Хотя, свинцовых АКБ, до 65 ампер/час, я уже давно не видел, ( пластик там, или картон противокислотный). Ещё стоит подумать, чем отверстия заделывать, чтобы кислота не съела.

Списанные отдавали просто так, лижь бы через забор не лазили. Были охотники, которые сами дробь да картечь лили, им отдавали. Да и сами в лянгу играли( кусок шкуры овчинка/козлятина и кругляш свинца, размера трёхкопеечной монеты, соединённые медной проволокой).😊😊

I agree should’ve rinsed it twice with distilled water maybe even three times and shake it to get all the settlement out of the bottom. Don’t know what the Coca-Cola does, but it must do something to get rid of some of the calcification on the plates?
As a dealership battery warranty tester in my previous work ha ha ha ...just get the new battery and forget it !
Boy you got that right as I tried everything that I saw to rejuvenate my wheelchair batteries and all the little tricks you see on YT don't really bring it back to new and they discharge very quickly and don't have enough amps to power anything over a lite bulb.

voltage might be restored but the true test is a LOAD TEST as in AMPERAGE. I've seen batteries with 13+ volts that couldn't turn a blower fan let alone a 300 amp starter motor. This is definitely worth trying but don't rely on it until you've FULLY charged the battery- then drain the voltage to round 9 volts then fully recharge the battery again; then do another load test.
Good points. Often times many cycles of charge/discharge are required before one gets the battery to accept a decent amount of amp-hour capacity. But sometimes it just won't work no matter how many times you do it. Those such batteries can only be discarded or completely torn down and rebuilt...but it's not easy imo to source the materials needed to do so. If anyone has good info on where to get new plates and electrolyte, i'd like to hear from them.

@@richardjohnson4373 well, i think a lot of batteries after a few weeks might fail that 100ºF test but, you can't just attach a 2 amp bulb to a 'restored' battery and call it a day. I'm batting about 50% when trying to recover a battery but even then--- you MIGHT get maybe another year out of the battery which will at least give you time to budget for a brand new quality battery. I got a battery in service now- almost 7 years but when it does die, being that old, it'll be a 'quick and final' death.

When recharging the battery you should leave the screw plugs out so as to release vapour build up, otherwise the battery could explode.

Danach baute ich einen 3Jahre alten 45 Ah-Akku ein, der nochmal 5 Jahre hielt. Dann nochmal einen "alten" 45Ah-Akku, der wieder 10 Jahre überlebte. Nun ist ein neuer 90Ah-Akku eingebaut, damit wegen der Klimaerwärmung nicht plötzlich die Kühlung ausfällt.😮

Sometimes the lead plates in the battery can become corroded so bad they no longer make a chemical reaction with the battery acid which makes voltage by emptying it out flushing it out with water filling it with cokeacola which has a different type of acid in it which we know will dissolve some types of corrosion let it set a while to work dump out flush out again with water completely refill with battery acid an charge it will work but how well is the big question depends on how badly the battery was deteriorated
They used to induce a little AC current into the battery that would clean the plates but leave deposits in the electrolyte.
Hooking it up to one of those old school battery trickle chargers will also break up & dissolve that corrosion
You are right. The main reason for a faulty old lead/acid battery is the hardening and oxidising of the lead. There is a brownish slurry resulting at the bottom of the cells which makes a slight short, preventing the battery from keeping the charge. By rinsing the cells with soda and water a few times properly, the sludge will come out. The remaining lead in the cells will still keep the charge, although the capacity will be less depending on the degree of the fallout. The charge should start slowly over a few days.

Once I restored an old car battery just by flushing out the old batt. acid,
adding new acid, letting it settle for an hour, and charging it. The battery was over 5 years old, after the restoration it worked for 3 years more. The batt. brand was Die Hard.

I was a m/cycle mechanic, we used to by a 20 Litre container from a company named Kevorkian here in Cyprus. It was mid1990's it was easy to find in the market such materials. Now I quess the first place to look would be car electricians & maybe car battery shops. Since 2004 we entered European union, many restrictions applied regarding chemicals, recycling e.t.c. Now every 5 years i replace my car battery with a new one.

More then likely it won’t last long and voltage is registering good but will it produce enough amps to power an engine starter? Starters are high torque small motors and require lots of amps to drive them.
it worked for me, worked in a tire store and we did many with flushing and baking soda, then flush with water, strain the orignal acid, put back in and slow trickle charge for 2 days, almost all charged right up and were like new
this works best for EV's which don't need a starter motor.... just drill a hole in your EV main battery, as far as the drill will go..... and tip coke in etc....
12.4 is NOTT good on a full charge

Get a job and get a life. FYI, it actually DOES work it just doesn't have the amps that it needs and therefore will last about as long as a snowball in hell. If you can get all the plates clean it will work. The reason it won't last long is because during the cleaning process the lead plates lose a lot of their integrity therefore they won't last. But YES, IT DOES work to some extent.

Я просто промывал дистилированой водой раза три пока чтстая вода не вытекала,заливал свежий элктролит,заряжал и акб после этого жил еще два года. Такой метод имеет место быть,правда на счет колы не знаю.

Я уж останавливал старый аккомулятор, только при помощи содового росола. Разводишь в дисцилированную воде соду, чтоб не было посадка.
@@user-rw9ht2lc2f Это временно и не на долго. Благодаря реакции при смешивании щёлочи и кислоты сбивается сульфат с пластин. Но и активная масса тоже от этого страдает, а значит и жизнь батареи сокращается. Сульфатацию надо растворять дистилированой водой слив электролит и залив только воду. С водой ставишь на зарядку. Как это сделать, ищи у блогера РусланК. Он подробно всё рассказывает.
@@user-rw9ht2lc2f У меня есть две таких батареи , которые умерли лет 6 лет назад от сульфатации , потом просто стояли три года , потом я их содой помыл и они третий год просто стоят , держат вольты и могут завести машину . У Дениса Механика видео как посмотрел , так и сделал . Всё реально работает .
Соду сыпешь в воду до тех пор , пока она в осадок не выпадает . Если выпала , то уже сыпать бесполезно и можно лить в АКБ .

Thats a 6 cell 12v. I di0t. I believe he eben tests it at 12.4 (which is not good btw)
