- Welcome back to my cross-country trip for the 2024 @LifeOfBurch meet-up ride. This is a raw edit of my return trip on Sunday and Monday after the group meet-up. I'll try to publish the "production" version on my primary channel soon. Skip around with the chapter markers below.
The weather was wet and crappy again on Sunday. I rode out of it for a while in the afternoon, but it returned late Sunday night and slowed my progress. I decided to skip the stress and danger of riding at night in the rain by stealth camping at the Alabama welcome center. That was a mixed success, but I did manage to get a few hours of shuteye.
Monday's ride was mostly dry, but the rain found me just inside of Texas. The trip total was 3185 miles, and my Michelin Road 5/6 tires still look brand new. The rear tire is just starting to square-off in the center, but it's on track to last ~10K miles or more. However, my posterior didn't fare nearly as well... my butt flattened out more than my rear tire, and the Levi's tattoos are still firmly branded into my cheeks. 🤣👍

Thank you for talking freely
Perfect timing sir! First! 🎉🎉🎉
Wow… what a video. This one’s going to take a few to watch.
Great start so far. Was an honor meeting you dude. Again happy you made it back in one piece. Still can’t get over your none stop ride to the Airbnb lol. Crazy man.
3 hour raw ride footage of beautiful rainy scenery and Quasitalk. This is my kind of entertainment right here😂
Chattanooga is a tough ride. A lot of crazy cagers there. That gas station you stopped in Tennessee is called a Wiegels, pronounced (Ygels). Mike and I have been there several times.
Great as usual. Thanks Quasi. Respect for the non stop trip up this time. I haven’t done more than 8 hours in the saddle at a single stretch - you’re the man!
Been dealing with 2 abscess teeth 4 four days. Just now getting some relief as the antibiotics are finally kickin' in so I don't need pain pills. THIS VIDEO was an awesome 3 hours of chill that I needed. THanks, A A ron!
I-66 to I-81 is a GREAT run as you head south toward Harrisonburg, VA. Beautiful country down there. I try to ride down toward Luray, VA when I get enough free time.
A Tennessee meetup would be amazing. Straight shot down I-81 for us here in the DMV (DC/MD/VA). Set the cruise at 75mph and steer with the butt. If you'd want any help planning something/leading a group from the North East, I'm game! 😀

Really enjoyed this video, Quasi! Glad you made it home safely!
Thanks, Terry! It was a great trip despite the wet weather and my Levi-branded butt cheeks! 🤣👍 --QM
Can confirm that the southern route was pouring rain. It was my only option! Got home safe though. :)
Been Lagging - Great video, but you do nothing less. Stay safe
Thanks, Bob... you too! 😉👍 ‐-QM
You are right, Quasi, about certain jeans. I have the same problem with mine and the imprints they leave. Gotta be some better ones some place.
As a local to where you pulled over an someone who has fixed a flat right there, thats not a great place to pull over. If you had already crossed in to Georgia, you would have been been wrong about the law. Georgia's move over law only applies to emergency vehicles as i understand. Tennessee's move over law does cover you to but its fairly new an the news only ever talks about it covering emergency vehicles. I know more than one cop that has been rear-ended on that short section of I-24 that is in Georgia. It would not have have been surprised if a cop had pulled over to fuss at you. You were about 10 minutes from nickajack dam. You can camp there. Payed camping on the east side, free camping on the west. Tennessee is also pretty good about letting you camp pretty much anywhere. Especially near the river.
Thanks again for awesome video back home to Katy Tx! Mr. Aaron 🍻
The large plant you passed after the Lake Charles bridge is Phillips 66 with Excel Paralubes and Sasol in the back. The plant you passed by Houston - Baytown should be the Chevron/Phillips joint venture. Polyethylene and PAO Synthetic base oils are made there.
Quasi you should come down to South Africa there are some very very nice quiet places to live down the south coast. It's beautiful and the US Dollar has great value
I'd love to visit SA sometime. I've never been to Africa or Australia... two continents that are on my bucket list. 😉👍 --QM
Love the vids, how about a "Tail of the Dragon" or a hungry mother's state park meet up (Back of the Dragon). Lets meet up soon.
That monday morning when you were packing up in Alabama, I had left kosciusko, ms at 4.30am heading to jackson, tn.
I love Cracker Barrel, the best catfish! But their breakfast isnt good.
Just wish your bike had a windscreen wiper :)
You and me both! 🤣👍 --QM
The 180 degree wide angle spot mirror is a terrific idea, i just got one for my fj-09. Did you do anything special to mount it or just used the sticker and stick it to your shield? Really enjoying your videos!
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I just used the original adhesive (3M VHB) that came in the mounts. I cleaned the windscreen with alcohol and heated the surfaces with a hair dryer to ensure a good bond. It has been stuck on there for 8 years so far! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Speaking of paper maps I used to have an atlas way back when I was in my early teens. Also before gps some people were just really good with directions.
Oh yeah... the Rand McNally Road Atlas and AAA maps were great! The last national road atlas I purchased was in 2021 before a cross-country scooter trip. I wanted to have that with me just in case everything else went sideways... Murphy's Law, SHTF, grid down, zombie apocalypse, whatever! 🤣👍 --QM
@@QuasiRAW 😂
Off subject since you were mentioning the "power players" so to speak... have you noticed that nowadays there's so many recalls on food pretty frequently? I believe it's more to this than meets the eye...or it might be just me
@@jaycahuenga6416 The substances that pass for "food" these days is pretty appallng. The chemicals, additives, and GMO constituents are purely driven by profit, greed, and evil. There is no logcal reason for "food" to contain so many toxic and carcinogenic compounds unless it's a deliberate act designed to effect a specific action or to suit an agenda. The FDA isn't looking out for public health at all; they are a profit-driven enterprise, so that's a direct conflict of interest. 🤔
i got two quad locks in the mail today but no way to connect my phone to it. and the other is for my new GPS i hope to buy soon.
talking about maps at the state line i use to have a box in my sleeper full of maps.
Another cracking vido. What is the white sauce on the meal @26:22
Thanks for watching! That's white gravy, made with flour, fat or shortening as a binder (usually beef or bacon fat), milk or creme, water, and spices (like black pepper). If you haven't had it before, the flavor is hard to describe... somewhat salty and creamy at the same time. 😉👍 --QM
@@QuasiRAW Many thanks Quasi, I'll give this a try later.
@@edwardsp1916 It's also called "MILK GRAVY"
Stuckey's? I haven't seen a Stuckey's since the early 80s. lol
@ 1:48:20 What is it that you use to say about cagers using their phones while driving? 😉😄
True, true... but I made sure nothing else was on the road with me for those couple of seconds. The helmet cam doesn't show my eyes or point of focus. 😉👍
That guy overtaking you @ 2:14:32…didn’t he pass you @ 1:59:24? 🤔
Yep... speeding 85+ mph in a 55 zone with a dangerous load. He stopped to tighten something or check the load, then went speeding by again at 85+ mph. Dangerous cagers everywhere, even on "slow" rural highways. 😒
Where did you get the wiide angle mirror
That's the RiderScan Blindspot Mirror: amzn.to/3nJjXLp . If that one is out of stock, then there are several knock-offs that are cheaper and seem to work almost as well ( amzn.to/49WKaNu ). You can search Amazon or Ebay for "parabolic blindspot mirror" to find alternatives.
This mirror really helps situational awareness in traffic because you can see 180° behind you. There is a learning curve to use it properly because the image is distorted by the mirror's convex shape, but it becomes second nature after a few hours of riding. The convex shape also minimizes sun and headlight glare because it's refracted away (vs. being directly reflected or concentrated). It's very rare for me to be caught off-guard with a cager hiding in my blind spot while I'm riding with one of these mirrors. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Is this event by invite only?
No sir... it's an open invitation for anyone who wants to attend! You can follow @LifeOfBurch on CZcams for more details about upcoming meet-up events. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Bicycle world make boxer type underwear that have gel padding in butt cheek area. Contplating a pair as I'm older and my skinny buttox gets sore quicker.
Ill be honest. Ive watched you for years but pretty surprised you enjoy lifeofburch videos. I cannot stand listening to him
He's a great guy! His editing style is drastically different from mine. His content with the quick transitions and edits appeals to a different audience... and it's arguably a more popular viewing format on YT..
I prefer the longer and more relaxed video format... stream of consciousness. Unscripted, rolling brain dumps are my method. 🤣👍 --QM
53:00 hey man you come as as antisocial, usually in each video of yours i watch, i think to myself at some point - i wouldn't want to know that guy irl.
if you're bothered by something, exit & find a quieter place. it's not their road, it's not yours. it's certainly not your entitled personal changing room.
please don't give motorcyclists a bad reputation.
Change the channel?! 🤣👎
Hey man, that's an unfair judgement from my perspective, He is nothing as you describe, i speak from personal experience and i have personally met countless of others who feel the same way. I have a million and 1 questions for you... most importantly - is your comment intended to be advice or criticism, cause to me you are coming across as antisocial....
Quazi is a great guy to know! Your loss for so quickly judging him.
Happens more than once. Often complains about something, calls someone else names, then repeats the behavior himself & gives himself a pass. Look out for it, you'll see it quick enough
@honeyforce996 Yet, you keep watching and insisting on leaving negative or derogatory comments? 🤔
If this content and my personality don't appeal to you, then perhaps you shouldn't watch the videos? Why make yourself unhappy and try to convert people to your opinion? Life is all about choices, so maybe you're unhappy with something on your side and projecting your issues? Nobody is forcing you to watch these videos... just change the channel! --QM
