The issue with "probable cause" is that they can essentially declare anything "probable cause" and change the story or act like they thought they saw/heard/smelled, etc. something later.

Make sure to check your tail lamps when you get pulled over for just that. Take pictures and video the tail light performance after getting pulled over. That's still one of those mechanisms that the cops can bend and say were out or not working properly to pull you over if they don't like you or think you don't belong in the area.

Way too many officers get the ability to perform a pat down wrong. They falsely believe they are allowed to pat down anyone for any reason. This really needs to stop. They need better education and training on this.
They just assume everyone is armed, and therefore they can pat anyone down because they "reasonably suspect" them to be armed. Remember, if it's for "officer safety," it's okay to violate your rights!*

One time I got pulled over for a suspended license because I was related to the owner of the vehicle and they somehow connected me to the vehicle. The judge threw out the case.

The crime in question was a pedestrian collision, not a drunk driving case OR use of deadly weapons.
Making the probable cause unrelated
It's probable that someone who runs over a pedestrian like that is drunk.

My uncle got pulled over cuz it had seen like he was speeding, my uncle pointed out they have no proof, and they quickly changed the topic to having on foglights
one thing I found out with car insurance is, unless you put a person on your policy the insurance won't cover them if you let them drive your car and they are in an accident. they provide a one time emergency exemption if they are driving you to the hospital but other than that if they are not on your policy then they won't be covered.
Depends on your policy. Mine will cover any licensed driver. It will also cover anyone with a learner permit as long as I’m the front seat passenger

I live in California, I was driving home from getting a late night snack when I saw a checkpoint coming up in the next street. However, this checkpoint had all the lights turned off and I don’t recall seeing a sign saying that a dui checkpoint investigation was taking place. So I assumed that the rode was closed. Well i made a right turn while I was halfway through the intersection before the checkpoint and thought I was ok. A minute later a cop in a motorcycle pulls up behind me flashing their lights and pulls me over. He says that I made a wonky turn and that he pulled me over because that was illegal and because I was avoiding a checkpoint. I told him that I only made that turn because all the lights were turned off and assumed the street was closed so I thought I had to take a different route. He gives me a citation and tell me that I can either pay it online when it posts, fight it in court, or go to traffic school. I’m just wondering if I can fight the ticket and have it dismissed. I also realized that he input the wrong license plate by 1 letter on the citation. If you see this message and respond to it I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you and keep the content coming!!!
You have a case the wonky turn was his “reasonable suspicion” but if the cop has it on his body cam which he probably doesn’t then it would show the dui check points with no lights making it an illegal stop. Most definitely fight the ticket

I’m an older woman who was driving from Denver to Fort Worth. My handicapped mom with dementia was with me and we had a ton of her stuff in the back seat and the trunk. We got pulled over just north of Amarillo by a TXDPS trooper. It’s pitch black, in the middle of f’ing nowhere. My mom and I look at each other talking about what could we have possibly done to get stopped. He asks me do I know why I was stopped? No. Did I know I had a taillight out? No. It’s late, I’m exhausted and my mom with starts bringing up all kinds of random crap that was making me feel like I landed in an Abbott and Costello movie. Finally I said to the trooper, my mom’s handicapped and has dementia but if it will help move this situation along we’ll get out. You can search the car, I’ll open the trunk: I just want to get to Amarillo. He said no it’s ok. Just get your light looked at. I thanked him bc in the end it was comical. Right then he says maybe I should look under the blanket in the back seat. I said sure. I rolled down the back window and he used something to lift up the blanket and guess what was there?! My mom’s pads. I thought he was going to drop dead with embarrassment. It was hysterical. He said have a nice night and be careful. Maybe I did everything wrong but I was tired and taking care of someone with dementia is exhausting. It’s hilarious now. Not at that exact moment. 😂😂😂😂

It's all one quick question. If you answer "No" to the "Is there anything illegal" you also said "No" to the "Mind if I search" question. That will stand in court because the last question he asked was if you mind a search, and you said "No".

Police can pretty much always search your vehicle pretty much no matter what all that h can really do is say I don’t consent to searches an seizures which can protect u in the unlikely case that they break or rip something especially if a canine eats up your seats on your old or new car u can definitely get reimbursed from that unless u give them right to search willingly than it wade be harder to do

Something needs to be specified about search vehicles. If an officer observes something, like swerving or speeding, and that person manages to get home and park in their driveway, as long as the officer never lost sight of the vehicle then the car can still be searched if a search is necessary
